Seven Lamps
The restaurant’s unique name comes from an extended essay by English art critic John Ruskin. The "lamps" refer to the seven principles of architecture: sacrifice, truth, power, beauty, life, memory and obedience.

I have been to Seven Lamps and dined inside a few times and always found it to be charming and romantic. We opted to dine outside for NYE due to Covid and it was quite disappointing. I knew when we walked up it was going to be a fail so I asked if we could sit inside as there were many open tables at 6:30 and we were rudely declined and told there were heaters outside. Big whoop! The heater did not work and the grumpy guy who greeted us at the front door was like, "it's not working." Not even a candle on any of the tables. It was literally akin to dining in a garage. Not romantic. At least our kind waiter got a new gas tank and got the heater going. His service was great and the food was tasty. The octopus appetizer was delish. The trout was pretty good but the burger was greasy and not very good. Best part - the cocktails. Scarlett Ginger = best drink ever IF you like fresh ginger. I cannot wait to try it at home. I will go back but will never sit outside again. TIP to restaurants - if you want diners to sit outside at least make an effort to keep them dry and warm and provide a bit of ambience. Candles go a long way!
The service was excellent. The 50/50 burgers were overcooked even tough had asked for medium rare. The fries were good.
We went to Seven Lamps on Christmas Eve 2020. The pastas were incredible, so fresh and delicious! We will definitely be back. It even snowed outside during our meal!
As a long time customer, the loss of Drew Van Leuvan is immediately noticeable in the menu. I have had the hamburger, one of the great surprisingly secret amazing burgers in town, and sadly this new version is average at best, and the fries are average as well - sad, previous version was just amazing. The menu lacked the creativity that made me come back for items that ranged from whimsical, to ingredients I never would have combined, but were amazing, and overall a great value. The prices seemed to go up, and hoping once we get through Covid, and the customer count is up, they will add items to the menu to further explore that are worthy of return visits.
It was really good lol
The food was creative and delicious! The staff was very attentive. We sat outside next to a heater that kept us toasty. We'll be back!
The place seemed a little odd. Covid I guess. Our table was dirty. Like sand and ind of the servers was standing on a chair behind us working on a panel.
The drinks and food were highlights. If food over decor wins then this place wins. The chef did extremely well.
Price? About what we expected. Little more than it should be but not over the top for downtown.
Probably not gonna hit this spot again but not bad.
We arrived early for a reservation to a mostly empty restaurant. We were seated right away and were very well taken care of until the end. It was only 9:30 and the staff practically pushed us out the door. Lights were turned up and they began wiping down all around us with cleaners that ruined a lovely conversation and what had been a good meal. If this was McDonald's and they were closing I would understand. But a supposedly upscale restaurant on a Thursday night? I know...it sucks when all you want to do is go home, but when you have people who are trying to finish a meal and are clearly on the way to leaving, give them some space! It was rude and I wouldn't think that this is what the management would have sanctioned.
good food and average service. restaurant is super nice.
The first problem is they sat us right next to a table with a baby that screamed through the whole meal and the second problem was we had ordered the steak medium rare and it came medium well. The manager did come over after the steak was almost all eaten and he said that wasn’t medium rare was it , no but the question was why he wait until the end of the meal to come over he did offer to send one home but we felt guilty because we had eaten most of the steak. I guess we were stupid we should of sent it back but everybody was hungry so we did not. I guess that’s on us.
Divine cocktails, amazing cauliflower, salmon was my favorite, trout was perfectly prepared but would have preferred a little more seasoning. The wings appetizer is delicious. The atmosphere was perfect- a little bit of noise and activity, great lighting, and the fact that you can see the kitchen preparing the food was a treat. We made sure to thank the chefs on the way out. We will definitely be back!
Seven Lamps didn’t disappoint! It was our first time here and will definitely be back! A manager called to confirm the reservation beforehand and asked if it was a special occasion. Once I told him it was my friends birthday he offered to do a champagne toast and what her name was so they could personalize the menu. Upon arriving our menus had a Happy Birthday message at top. The service was wonderful. We received change toast before they offered a complimentary birthday dessert. The staff was wonderful and really made my friends birthday special.
14 yo birthday
Outstanding evening, great meal and service. Lighting is perfect for a nice evening, menu is diverse and interesting. Super drink menu with good wine selections. Highly recommend.
The staff went above and beyond to be accommodating. The food is delicious and I love the environment. It’s a small, tucked away restaurant with a nice open kitchen. So hard to find delicious, unpretentious restaurants in Buckhead. My friends and I definitely found a new favorite!
Food was okay. Fish was burnt. Bread was salty. Butter was weird. Table across from us was very loud. Ruined most of our dinner. Not a lot of food for the price point. Won’t visit again. Our waitress was very nice.
The ambience was very nice inside, however the food was just okay. Everything that we ordered the flavors were just either very extreme or non existent. The vodka ginger martini had a very over powering ginger taste, the pimento cheese board was AMAZING, the gnocchi had no flavor and texture was nothing close to how gnocchi should be. Very nice date night setting but I was having to almost scream across the table because it was just so loud inside.
Everything about Seven Lamps is a celebration of life. The drinks are crafted and fun, the plates are absolutely delicious and also fun, and of course, dessert is the same. It's cozy and the service is always perfect - nice, fun waitstaff who take the best care of customers. I love this place as a treat, and it's affordable and comfortable enough that it can be a regular one. In this time, as well, they did a great job of keeping us well physically distanced and comfortable that we were safe from exposure to the virus.
Amazing service since we walked in the door. The food is always delicious!
This our third visit. The cocktails and meals very very good.
Seven Lamps never disappoints. Never.
Seven Lamps has done an excellent job providing a safe and pleasant dining experience during Covid which is most appreciated. And the food and staff are always wonderful.
The outdoor patio was warm on a fall night in Atlanta. Brittanie our server and the Scottish Salomon were wonderful!!!!! Good social distanced date night.
We love this restaurant. Every time we go the food is delicious. The menu changes seasonally so you can usually change it up and find a new favorite. The charcuterie is also delicious if you are just looking for a snack and some cocktails.
Wow! Fantastic food and service. Lobster roll, potato soup with smoked serrano were our favorites.
Dining on an outdoor patio with a view into West Elm -- not what we expected but it made for a wonderful pandemic dining experience. Our favorite dishes were the crispy brussel sprouts and pumpkin gnocchi, but every dish was delightful.
One of our favorites
We had an amazing lunch. The chicken with brussels was amazing. Also loved the meat and cheese. Drinks were delicious as well.
Food was excellent. Drinks were also and better than most specialty cocktails we've experienced at other places. Patio was perfect for a fall night.
Really exceptional food, as always, and very impressed with the beautiful outdoor seating, socially distanced tables, and contactless payment. Grateful for their precautions.
This was our first visit and the food really exceeded our expectations. Beet salad, fried okra, salmon and smoked chicken dishes all exceeded expectations. Bravo to the kitchen! Our waiter was super nice but either had too many tables or the bar was slow.
Great experience dinner menu for share ableist was good
Amazing, quality food and service! Ready to go back!
The pimento cheese is the BEST EVER!!! Also, the lobster bun is amazing. The food and service are always top notch.
This is my favorite place for lunch. The service is excellent. John B is always delightful and makes us smile. So glad that Seven Lamps is open for lunch again. Best French 75 Ever!!
I think they were having an off night with service- which they apologized for, but the food made up for it 110%. Butternut squash cannelloni was beyond delicious, savory and sweet. Burger was cooked to perfection- a little pink inside with pickles and sweet onions... and then the pizza my daughter ate... excellent!
The new menu is fantastic lots of side options and decent drink menu. Would like to see more options there. Like to see the tables cleaned a bit more (for bugs not germs, had a bit of an ant issue) but overall I love this place. Especially the current menu
Was a pleasant surprise didn’t know what to expect but it turned out good.
Overpriced and weird seasonal menu, no outside seating even though multiple tables open, and extremely limited drink choices.
Loved it so much going back with a different friend to share this great eatery! The food is all organic. The menu is ever changing yet so hard to pick what to eat because it’s all special and yummy- go with a friend who likes to ‘share dishes’;)
