The restaurant’s unique name comes from an extended essay by English art critic John Ruskin. The "lamps" refer to the seven principles of architecture: sacrifice, truth, power, beauty, life, memory and obedience. Inspired by the essay, Co-owner and Executive Chef Drew Van Leuvan recognized that these important principles are also very applicable in the kitchen as he "builds" plates.

Tucked in the corner of the plaza next to Lenox Mall, you might need a few extra minutes to find it. The food was very good and we enjoyed the table seating (family style).
Food and cocktail menus are on point, and the staff was terrific. The space is well-designed, but tight and a bit noisy. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience.
Love, love this restaurant- have been many times. My only feedback is that it can be very loud and it can be tough to carry on a conversation. Otherwise, it is fabulous- great food and great service.
Although I think that the ambience of a restaurant is very important - the food definitely is key. For our group, Seven Lamps was a bit of a let down. The positives; we had made a reservation and were seated promptly, the menu had lots of great options for both vegetarians and carnivores (the menu changes daily) and the decor and ambience were great. The restaurant is dimly lit and lively and the tables are "family style" which means that depending on your party size, you may be seated with those you do not know. I think this is a great concept and one that was being embraced by patrons. As for the food and drinks, they were just ok. Cocktails have twists on them that sound appealing however we received our drinks one by one (vs the whole table getting at once) with the last drink coming up at least 5 minutes later and in the end no one loved any of them. The best dish at the table food wise, was the hanger steak. It was cooked perfectly and had a great sauce with fingerling potatoes and greens. We also very much enjoyed the risotto which is listed as a small plate. The 3 pasta dishes we had were just ok. One was a bit too al dente, one was too salty and one the flavor profile was just "meh". We did have a burger as well which was tasty - however the bun of the burger was burned slightly and I ended up not eating it. If I can make a small recommendation it would be to provide larger water glasses. I felt as though our waitress was hovering all night because we happened to be drinking a lot of water and in such a tiny glass it was as if she never left the table. I feel like if I lived locally I would probably try this one more time to see if perhaps it was just an off night.
The most epic recovery we’ve ever had at a restaurant. We came in and were seated right away but because a large party was seated in front of us, we were not served for what seemed like a long time. We finally called the maître d’ over and explained the situation. It was as if the entire staff jumped into action.I won’t go into full detail but I will say that all of us were surprised and delighted by the restaurant’s response. And what great food! The absolute star of the evening were the duck rillettes on the charcuterie plate; like little savory donut holes that are the best thing you’ve ever popped into your mouth. My personal favorite after that was the smoked cauliflower; started on a Little Green Egg smoker – yes, the ones outside and they’re not for show – and finished in the kitchen on a bed of almonds and marinated peppers. Unbelievable! But there was not a single morsel that we were served that was less than fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.
Food is always great. Fun atmosphere. Staff always friendly and helpful.
Wonderful cocktails with fresh ingredients.....great service....food outstanding.
Absolutely delicious! Truly a farm-to-table restaurant! We started with a wonderful rice salad with squash and pistachios. Our duck and trout dishes were delicious, too. The only thing we didn’t like were the group tables.
Food and drink was great and the servers were super attentive.
Great Food. Great atmosphere can’t wait to come back.
Wasn’t very romantic but service was good.
Really enjoyed spending Valentine's Day here with my wife. Their special dinner menu was delicious and the cocktails really hit the spot.
We always have amazing meals here!
Always awesome food! Excellent wait staff esp Jared! Our favorite!! And let’s not forget chef Drew incredible fresh food with desert!
It was great but very loud
Great food, superb service and a great atmosphere.
The food here was amazing. I highly recommend trying a glass from their wine selection. This is a great spot to grab a bite to eat with friends. The service was decent but I enjoyed myself overall.
Made a reservation for 1:30 pm which probably wasn’t necessary. Great waiter Frank! Attentive but not intrusive. He offered great suggestions.
Good beer selection. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. Roasted to perfection & finished with a splash of vinegar which was bright & refreshing. We had the beet salad with grilled chicken & strawberry sauce. I loved the chicken goat cheese dates & sauce. I prefer roasted beets & they were more like pickled beets. They were fresh. The burger was AMAZING - juicy & delicious. The 1 small change would be a few less pickles or put on the side. They were yummy but took over the taste in some bites.
Overall a great experience & looking forward to trying many more menu items like lobster roll!!
Great service and food. The only thing would be the seating arrangement. Not too much of a fan of the connecting tables. Besides that though everything was great
Food was very good. We had a large group of 10 and the staff took great care of us. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It was difficult to hear everyone but still recommend highly.
Everything is always consistently wonderful!
Strangers were sat next too us (at our table) even though restaurant was still quite empty. The lobster in the lobster roll was raw, though the bread part of the roll was interesting and good. Hanger steak was medium or medium rare though ordered medium well. Restaurant was very loud. The cottage fries were decent. Waiter was polite.
Ginger cocktail was sweet but also super spicy. All you could taste was ginger. Was hoping for a bit more mild on both. Hubs loved the Red Hare beer.
Calamari was over fried, too dark and too much breading. Most came off on the plate and all you could taste was the used oil. Should be more like Davio’s calamari for price point.
Gnochi already had a spicy sauce but then they added too much pepper flakes. All I could taste was heat. Not expecting that from this "Italian influenced" dish. Also way too much oil accumulated in the bottom of dish. Was expecting a nice creamy, buttery, nutty, garlicky, salty dish with good cheese.
Kale salad would be amazing except there were red pepper flakes. Again.
Truffle dessert was stunning except we hate peppermint especially on chocolate. Don't mess with chocolate. Just don't. Should offer peppermint shavings on the side since that is a common preference. After trying to pick most of it off, we could tell it was absolutely delicious otherwise. Amazing.
Hubs liked the burger until he bit into a huge piece of grissell, perhaps due to the 50% brisket. He asked for well done and it was pink/red center, but he's also crazy to ask for well done meat, so I'll let that go. He still thinks BGR is the best in town as it's cooked over a flame and not pan fried.
Over all the theme felt like they were just adding way too much spice (and I love heat) on each dish and not allowing some natural flavors to come through therefore it was consistently unbalanced - for a $96 meal with tip.
The wait staff was amazing. They gave us free drinks and free dessert for hubs bday, which was super nice! Loved that. The free champs was awful though and would rather the dessert solo vs cheap champs.
We both agreed that for the price, either Fresca Storico or Davios would be much better for Italian.
I booked a 8:45pm reservation however nobody checked or asked as I walked in and they repeatedly said that they were closing at 9pm. The waitress kept repeating that and I was very confused as if they still served food and if so, why would they not want to seat us given we had booked a reservation.
Great location. Nice setting wood walls, tables and floors
Super good food
Dinner was absolutely fantastic! It was a very personable experience for my birthday. They went out of their way to make it very special. The food was amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be going there again.
Great food ! Tara was awesome! Cozy setting.
The only thing that is a little off from expectations is the fact that the tables are communal. So unless you are going with a group and reserve seating for 6-8-10-12 then you are sitting next to strangers. Not a serious candlelit date night romantic one on one.
The experience was one of the best.
David was our server and from the Moment the night started it was defined by good energy and very informative talks.
Thank you to Seven Lamps for being accesible as well.
Excellent cocktails, food, and service! Daniel did a wonderful job. We will definitely be back.
Last nights dinner was unforgettable! I just got a promotion and put special occasion on the reservation. Denny from seven lamps
Called to ask what the special occasion was and made sure I felt so welcomed when I arrived. The menu had “congrats on the promotion” and we were given champagne and desert to celebrate! The food was phenomenal! Great service - will definitely be coming back!
Very fresh menu with delicious ingredients. Service was attentive but not overly-so. Would recommend.
Service and food were great! I didn’t go out of my way to let them know it was my birthday, but I guess opentable has that information available for them? They made it special by recognizing it anyways and sending dessert towards the end. I will definitely be back!
