The restaurant’s unique name comes from an extended essay by English art critic John Ruskin. The "lamps" refer to the seven principles of architecture: sacrifice, truth, power, beauty, life, memory and obedience. Inspired by the essay, Co-owner and Executive Chef Drew Van Leuvan recognized that these important principles are also very applicable in the kitchen as he "builds" plates.

As usual, it was a stellar meal!
Have gone many times to Seven Lamps and I am never disappointed!
Service was not good and waiter was not friendly.
Very good and experimental food, nice staff, best recommendations
My date and I really enjoyed this spot. We sat in the bar area, which delivered a great experience. Attentive, friendly and fun service despite being a busy Friday night. The narrow, tall table worked well for date and I sitting across from each other as the noise level is high — so we had to lean in to hear each other. It works, but don’t come here looking to have a quiet chat! Menu offering was delicious. We stuck with small plates, which were all good. Mussels were a highlight as they have more spicy heat than typical. Enjoy!
Food is excellent, as was the service. Loud, so not good for a quiet/intimate evening.
The very best lobster rolls any where.
This was probably one of the best meals and dining experience I have EVER had. Every time I come to Atlanta I will include this in my itinerary. You will not be disappointed.
The food was superb and the staff were extremely friendly and professional. Our group really enjoyed the whole experience and can’t wait to go back again!
I’ve eaten here a handful of times and it’s ok to good. Sometimes you stumble on a couple of standout dishes. Cocktails are typically the highlight. Very well made. Menu was out of a few items. Because we had some younger kids (late due to out of town guests with me, just arrived at Westin), never took our drink order. Mostly due to how busy it was as the servers were working hard. Oysters were great, Lobster Roll had good flavor, but served on more a Korean Bun as a twist, Wings weren’t cooked through and more liquid smoked flavored, Burger had zero seasoning, and the “fries” are thick cut slices (not wedges) which some are soggy, some are crisp. Previous visit was much better with the salad and pasta fare and fish entrees with a date. The interior noise may be the loudest in the City. So many hard surfaces reflecting the sound. If weather is nice and you want to here your conversation, sit outside. Staff is very nice. Just one of those nights where things were off.
Always a great meal here!!!
The Buffalo fried okra was spicy, the half -sized portions were the perfect size and I love the open kitchen.
Our experience at dinner on Sunday was horrible. We were early so we decided to wait at the bar and get a drink while our table got ready. After ten minutes of sitting there, the bartender finally approached and was rude when we asked questions about drinks and her recommendations per our preferences. When our table was ready, we closed our tab at the bar and moved to the outdoors seating area. We sat here for 30 minutes before a server approached us to take our order (this was after asking another server if he will be taking our order). We then sat there for another 30 minutes with no sign of our appetizers or drinks. At this point, I went up to the host to ask how much additional time it would take since we were okay with just cancelling our order and going home. The host came back to us and told us it will be another 5 minutes. We believe the server actually forgot to put our order in completely. The host told us he would like us to have a dessert on the house but when we got our check, there was a charge for the desert. The server graciously removed it when we asked him about it but the whole experience was off putting. Also, the food was not great. The papaya salad and pasta were good but the okra was soggy and the soup was served without bread. Given that I had been here before for lunch and loved it, the evening was a disappointment. Will not be returning.
service is very good. food was excellent. It is loud
Hi. I went there for my birthday this Friday, and it was my first time there. The host was a friendly black gentleman. He went out of his way to try to assist me in finding a table for my group and I. We were seated outside. Unfortunately my group and I waited around 10-15min before we were greeted. That’s unacceptable I too am a server and for this restaurant being highly regarded as a top Buckhead restaurant it did not live up to its online representation of the restaurant. After the greet our server Chris did take our drink order and food order, but then was gone for awhile. The overall feel from all of us is that he was absent more than present. You can’t give amazing or above average service if you aren’t even there. His overall demeanor seemed as if his job was a bit of a hassle for him??? At one point he told my friend that wanted to remind him of her drink order that “ he only has 2 hands!”
Some servers know how to give amazing and seemless service at an upscale restaurant with slightly high pricing. I believe he could use some coaching on how to step up his performance to be a better representation of this restaurant. It’s not likely that I would recommend this restaurant due to my first impression of it. The food was tasty and enjoyable. Mostly the service is why I’m giving it a mediocre at best rating.
The service was great! All staff were courteous and attentive. For the price, our food just wasn't that good. I had the Anglonotti (sp?) and the to go box is still in my fridge. Not sure if I'll go back, except maybe to sit on the patio and have drinks. The peach and mint drink I had was really refreshing.
Food was amazing. Drinks were excellent. Service was outstanding. Bar didn’t have Aperol or Grand Marnier, which was weird, but otherwise absolutely perfect dining experience.
Excellent service and food. Apps were delicious-- best duck I have had in Atlanta.
David provided great services. He knew the menu in and out and provided great suggestions on items to select. Thank you!
Experience was very mixed ... adults ordered salads with chicken and those came out really good as did the gnocchi which was probably one of the best. Kids grilled cheese sandwiches were delicious as well. Desserts were good as well and we tried the Devils Food Cake and the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. Smoked chicken wings were tasty but were a bit unwieldy because they were served as whole chicken wings and not as the smaller wing portions that you would expect but rather the drumette attached to the wingette and the tip. One of our kids ordered the adult cheese sandwich with the avocado on the side and it came with the avocado inside and a really runny egg inside. Sent it back and was told it wouldn’t be charged to us but we were charged for it. Ordered a latte but it never came when we paid. Server was working our table and the bar so seems too busy or distracted. Loose hair on table. Mixed experience.
The outside dinning is nice and there is a decent wine/beer selection. But that’s probably all I would go for. We felt the food was over priced for what we got. A lot of the food was over salted or just did not taste great because it was over seasoned/spiced. Would not recommend to a friend.
Previous reviews and the fact Seven Lamps was within easy walking distance from our hotel made this as obvious dinner choice for us. Glad it was! Excellent cocktails, superb meal, and outstanding very attentive service — all at reasonable in-city prices. Definitely worth a return visit.
The food was delicious and the outside ambience was perfect. Highly recommend!
We really enjoy the service and the food is delicious. The drinks are many to choose from and we love the décor and the way it is set up.
Won’t return due to awful experience in parking lot as car was booted for no reason and lot staff was amazingly rude. Restaurant was great.
Was supposed to get 1000 points
The best service!!
The mussels were great! Have had them twice now.
The duck breast was tough, even medium, which was pretty rare.
Cocktails and service were great!
Absolutlely deliciously prepared meal(s). Each dish was quite creative, and the selection of flavors and preparations were executed perfectly - The waitstaff was excellent, and the vibe was nice - upbeat - The noise level inside can get pretty loud
Phenomenal, every aspect. The chef and every dish was perfection.
I dined on a beet and strawberry salad, pork loin and a strawberry pudding for dessert. All fabulously delicious!
Cute, casual atmosphere with a fun and quirky cocktail list. Met a co-worker friend here for a birthday lunch. We had planned to sit outside, but it was just too hot of a day. We both got the off menu burger and fries, which was greasy cheesy goodness. Maybe a little too greasy...the bottom bun basically disintegrated. Despite the server’s noncommittal opinion on the drink, I ordered a Sauced cocktail which was a watermelon lime vodka slushie with “Taco Bell hot sauce foam”. It was not as interesting as I’d expected - just a sweet and slightly salty unremarkable drink. Co-worker liked hers enough to order a second.
First off the food was good, however the service was terribly inattentive and continued to get everything wrong. We had a party of four for a business dinner, one guy ordered the hangar steak and the others got the duck breast. Once the food arrives we all had Hangar steak in front of us. The server said it would be about 15 minutes before he could get any duck and acknowledged the mistake. Our server said if we wanted to keep the steak he would charge us for the duck. Of course once we got the bill and had paid I reviewed the check and he charged us all for the steak, an add of about $21 for his mistake. It took about 15 minutes to get our beer order in once we were sat down. As well, once we finished our entrees he immediately brought the check and we said we would like to see a desert menu to which he seemed surprised. Overall, food was good but not enough to justify the mistake and a long piece of hair in the potatoes with my steak, terrible attention to service. Our server was Alijah T.
The Tortellini was amazing! I would recommend this place to all my friends!
Menu for dinner - sparse selection. Waiter would not let us order sandwich from lunch menu although he mistakenly gave us lunch menu. Did not bring ice for water as I requested. Did not bring side plates as we requested. Ended up just ordering fries with our drinks and went to dinner elsewhere.
The food was great but the service was the worst I’ve had in a while. We weren’t waited on for thirty minutes and our hostess ended up being our server. And hen the person that was supposed to be my server tried to take my plate away midbite.
The appetizers were good but the entrees were mediocre at best. The ultimate downfall was the non-existent service. We had to flag the server for every single step, from ordering drinks to ordering apps to entrees to beyond. He killed the experience. Will not be back.
