About Sette Osteria - 14th St
Sette is Italian for seven, the traditional "lucky" number. The restaurant design is comfortable with a traditional Italian tone, exposed bricks, and with a great " warm feel and flow." Sette Osteria is a destination place for people as well as a place for people walking in the area to come in and enjoy.
Decor: Sette Osteria has an open pizza station viewable by guests.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy 14th street. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is rustic and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz.

Sette Osteria - 14th St Ratings and Reviews
The staff there is not customer friendly and socially regimented. When I asked if it was Happy Hour, the bartender responded yes, then proceeded to give me something that wasn't on Happy Hour prices - and had no apologies.
The management needs to review their staffing procedures and select staff that is customer friendly.
I live only 1 block away and have been there many times, but I will not go again.
I had a great date night at Sette on 14th. They were very courteous and we didn't have to wait, our reservation was ready. They were very gracious in pushing back my reservation when I called and said I would be late. The food was great and the prices were good. I recommend to anyone who is thinking about going.
The service was very accommodating to our special needs (for a quiet place because of hearing loss) and were very attentive throughout the meal without being intrusive. The food is good but not great. But I'd go back again when I'm in the neighborhood because the servers were so nice.
I have enjoyed every meal I have had there, but most of the time I was seated in the upper section in the back. This time, we were in the corner in the front. The difference in volume level was significant. It was almost too much to be social with our party. I don't mind noisy and vibrant places, but this was close to being too much.
Otherwise, very enjoyable.
Meal was incredible. Sat outside in October and the blankets on the chairs was a nice touch. I had the bruschetta trio appetizer and my boyfriend had he Caesar salad, meals included a short rib and mushroom risotto special and a basil pasta with smoked mozzarella and eggplant, dessert of an apple tart and sorbet. Absolutely everything was delish. Service was slow at times (like had our appetizers before we even had bread on the table and waited 10+ minutes for wine) but we weren’t in a rush so it wasn’t too annoying.
From the moment we sat down, we could tell that our waitress, Karla F, was irritated about something. She was very curt to us, and ignored our request for bread for the table multiple times. We had ordered two bottles of prosecco at this point and were waiting for a friend to arrive, so we had ordered the bread and water and some appetizers. However we didn't even get the chance to order dinner because the second our friend walked in, the entire staff began to discriminate against him because of his slow rate of speech, which is a speaking quality that all of our friends know to be characteristic of our friend regardless of whether he has consumed any alcohol or not. Before our friend even got a chance to place an order, the waitress came over and told him her manager said that he could not be served alcohol. We were all speechless, we had a group of 7 coming for a special occasion dinner to celebrate his new job, and we're planning to order entrees and stay for a good hour or two at least celebrating. We asked if there was any reason for this, and the waitress told us first that it was her boss' decision and she was just following protocol, and then we asked her again and she confessed that she had just lied to us and that it was based on her own discriminatory judgments based on the way our only non-white friend looked and spoke. We had barely finished our appetizers and still had some wine to finish, so we asked for more bread to finish the dips/burrata that we had been allowed to purchase and were ignored for half an hour until they realized we would not be leaving without finishing the food we had paid for, and finally brought us bread. I don't know why this waitress chose to be so discriminatory to our friend with absolutely no basis, for his own celebratory dinner, but we will definitely not be back.
Was pretty noisy but overall great brunch! Food was good, only one exception being the brunch tart but in part possibly because it wasn't what was expected (e.g., served cold, eggs not on top)
But the service was impeccable (thanks Nemanya & sorry if misspelled) -- stellar recommendations on food and kept our glasses full (not easy with our crew;)
Food is very good and reasonably priced, with generous but not ridiculous portion sizes, but it is very loud inside. Must be something with the acoustics, because it was busy in the way that any restaurant is probably busy on a Friday night, but not overly packed.
Have been to the Sette Osteria at Dupont and have always liked it. First time to this Sette Osteria and for brunch. Reviews on brunch were good so met a friend at noon on a sunday. We also happen to hit restaurant week. Great value. Pre Fixe included a cocktail (Bloody Mary; Mimosa); one entre and one sweet. I enjoyed the Blood Mary so much, that I asked for another but they were out of Bloody Mary mix!! The eggs benedict were very good but the Hollandaise a bit tasteless. Eggs done perfectly. Had salad instead of potatoes as the side and it was delicious. The dessert was a small pancake with fresh fruit, syrup and whipped cream. Very good. My friend had an egg white omelet which she enjoyed but, for some reason, they brought her omelet with my dessert!! That was weird. I'm sitting there enjoying my eggs benedict and she's waiting around for her meal. I didn't understand that but the waiter made it seem as if that was how it is done. Strange. Wait staff friendly though. We should have been insistent to bring it at the same time.
The service at Sette Osteria was the best I've experienced in the U.S. Not since Paris have I had a server who took such genuine delight in our happiness. She was so pleased that we were excited to be sitting outdoors on a lovely night and that we were looking forward to a leisurely meal (we had just moved our daughter to D.C. and it was our first experience in the neighborhood.) The food was great - pizza as good as in Florence, the cocktails and wine were great, the setting was great (we sat across the street from Red Light and had fun watching the scene there) and the service was STELLAR. It was like being welcomed into someone's home. I am already looking forward to our next trip to D.C. so we can return.
Sette Osteria serves a most delicious meal and their staff is attentive and accommodating. We've enjoyed some delightful evenings there. However, the noise level on our most recent visit was deafening, making it nearly impossible to hold a conversation without yelling.
We will not frequent this restaurant on a weekend evening again. Since the food was so tasty, we might give it another chance on a very slow weeknight.
I would strongly urge the management to add sound dampening techniques.
We arrived to celebrate my 3rd cousin's 13th birthday. We were a little late but were comfortably seated at a nice window table. The food, conversation, coke cola, and wine all flowed in perfect harmony along with the great service.
At 7:30 Pm, I was surprised to see that Sette O. wasn't busier than I had imagined. Never the less, the service, greetings with smiles were all very inviting and welcoming. I truly enjoyed time with my family (some part of which) I had not seen in 10 years. We enjoyed every moment and the atmosphere made them that much more memorable.
And let's not forget the icing on the cake! In this case, the icing on the Tiramisu! Okay, the candle on the Tiramisu! In many restaurants, the age old celebration of a birthday comes with a price. They no longer gift a desert to the table. However, I don't think I even asked for a desert but Sette O. delivered a delicious treat for all to enjoy.
Thank you your team Sette O. for making our night something awesome!!!
I had wanted to go to Sette Osteria for a while and finally took the plunge. It was really good and a great place for lunch. It was busy, but not overly so, the food came quickly and it was very good and the service was also really good. We had a salad and pasta and both were exactly what I hoped they would be - comfort and tasty Italian food.
Sette Osteria is the type of restaurant one patronizes because it is two blocks away, something nicer than fast-causal is desired, and reservations are readily available. The food is certainly satisfactory, but is not especially distinguished -- it is along the lines of what a proficient home cook would prepare. My butternut squash filled ravioli had good texture and flavor, but lacked the suppleness I've experienced from restaurants with first-rate pasta. Our server was very pleasant. For the second consecutive visit, the restaurant appeared to have climate-control issues, as the air conditioning was not keeping up particularly well with the Washington summer heat.
