Sette Osteria - 14th St
Decor: Sette Osteria has an open pizza station viewable by guests.
The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy 14th street. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is rustic and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz.

Sette Osteria is consistently wonderful--the food, the service, and the space itself which makes you feel a part of the vibrant 14th Street community.
Hands down one of the best brunch places in the city. I've only been to this location and have no other reason to visit the other; between the amazingly pleasant waitresses, marvelous food and bottomless that includes several choices for a great price, what else could you ask for?
This was a good option after the parade. I had been here once before and just had pizza and salad. The food is here solid. I certainly wouldn't make a destination however if I'm in the area, and other places are crowded I know this place is here and I can get a decent meal.
It was pride, so it was very hot inside and hectic. I didn’t eat much, but what I had was very good. They ran out of all sparkling wine and all draft beer, but like I said, it was not a normal day. We will definitely be back on a normal evening to check it out again.
The Hostess was very accommodating. The food was very good and the service was outstanding.
Very accommodating to our large party, even when we had one more than our reservation. He also showed up 30 minutes early and they still seated us. Large selection on the menu – very accommodating to our large party, even when we had one more than our reservation. He also showed up 30 minutes early and they still seated us. Large selection on the menu – Everyone was very pleased with their meal. Very friendly wait staff, and super fast getting her food
I had the soft-shell crab, which is hard to find. It came with fresh arugula. Very tasty. Service was outstanding, and the ambiance was very nice (eating outdoors).
We dined at the P Street location and the food was excellent. The server was just fine, quite friendly and competent. Sadly it was a hot night and the air conditioning didn't work...but sitting outside was actually better than in as the inside is always DARK and WAY TOO NOISY. We love this place and have dined here before but would love if it they added something, fabric or anything, to soften the overwhelming noise.
Would appreciate if the servers would make customers aware of items on the menu that are missing or that you don’t have. Save me the trouble of expecting to be able to order it.
There is no air conditioner.
Wonderful service and food is always outstanding. We love both locations in DC
Melissa was a great server.
Seafood Linguini was to die for. Get it with the spicy sauce :)
Always a great time at Sette!
Dinner was great, however my only issue was I went during Happy Hour and was not given a Happy Hour menu. I asked our waiter about it and apparently it was only at the bar. I went a week earlier on the same day around the same time and was given the Happy Hour menu at a table so I was very confused on why there was a difference. Food was still amazing but it seemed odd to me that Happy Hour wasn't throughout the entire restaurant.
Worth noting that happy hour hours are extended at the bar only
Manager was great! Food and service is always very good!
Great brunch and food! Manager was amazing and was very accommodating
I will be frank, the food was so bland. The tiramisu was the only good thing. This was the second and last time I went. This time we ordered the chicken Alfredo, fettuccine alla bolognese, and the lasagna. Last time we ordered the cannelloni di ricotta e spinach and tagliolini con pesto. Both times the food has been bland. It is sad to call it Italian cuisine. The Alfredo sauce was so gross. It was soupy. I’m convinced it came straight from a can. I’m mostly sad about the food. You shouldn’t have to salt/pepper/cheese your food down. Olive Garden would actually have been better. I’ll stick to acqua al 2 or Sfoglina. Ambiance doesn’t exist here. It is so loud. I’m sure because of the great late night happy hour deals. Our reservation was for 8:30. Service was painfully slow and mediocre. For three people the bill was only 125, including a 25%tip, so you get what you pay for. Won’t return.
Dear guest, I'm honestly disappointed that you feel this way about us. Our pastas are normally very popular with our guests and especially the Italian ones... I want to assure you that our dishes are made fresh with quality ingredients and our Italians chefs are committed to excellence and consistency that explains our popularity... I sincerely hope you'll return so that we can find some options on our menu that leave you feeling truly impressed. All the best, Mehdi, GM
The food was excellent. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The noise level was a bit much but we were able to sit on the patio which was perfect
Our waiter was phenomenal and the food was delicious! Will definitely be back for brunch.
Delightful menu with a great selection of Italian favorites. Antipasti, Pastas as well as meat and fish selections. Everyone was happy with their choice and all the food was well prepared. Definitely worth a visit
Really nice Italian to suit all tastes. Situated in a great area
We had a reservation for a party of 4 and after about 45mins of waiting for our food our waiter told us that the kithen was backed up but it should be out shortly - no problem, it was a brunch hour we can wait. Around the 1h15 mark, he came back up frustrated that our food wasn't out and expressed that he was going to speak with his manager about a comp. The manager never came to our table, never expressed any interest in making up for our experience. Around the 1h30 mark, I went down to the bar and spoke with our server and asked if it would just be better if we left since he still couldn't tell us when our food would be out. He went again to speak with the manager, who still didn't offer to come speak with us directly. It was unfortunate because the waiter was doing all he could, the manager should have actually done his job and taken care of our table and he chose not to.
I'm beyond disappointed to hear about your most recent experience at our 14TH ST location, Morgan ! I'm sorry that you were not shown the kind of attentive, friendly service that you deserve. Thank you for following up with this honest review so that I can address this with the team. I know we can and will do better in the future. Please contact me at mzorgani@setteosteria All the very best, Mehdi, GM
Do not come here with a big group. I reserved a group for 14 four days before and they did not have the staff to take care of us. It literally took us close to two hours to get our food and three hours to get our check. Don’t do it.
Thank you for stopping by ! I sure do wish we'd been able to make a better impression here, as I know that we're capable of more. I hope we get the chance to show you that sometime in the future to WOW you. Meanwhile, i d like to gather more details, please contact me at your convenience. Thank you -Mehdi, GM
Quaint location with great, no frills Italian food. Perfect for group of 2-4.
We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're excited you had such a wonderful time with us, Thank you for your support, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon! Sincerely, Mehdi, GM
Our food was good. Our service was awful. The maître d was unfriendly and snobbish. When we were seated, they were only able to provide us with one menu and promised to bring two more for our party of three. They never did. Not a big deal but the service just declined from there. We waited 30 minutes before anyone even took our drink order. Then our drinks sat empty for another 30 minutes before we finally chased down a server to order refills.
I brought friends here from out of town and was embarrassed and disappointed that this was their DC dining experience. I'll never go back. Too many interesting places on 14th Street to waist time at a place with bad service.
Mary, I'm truly disappointed to hear about your most recent experience. Thats not the typical level of service we are committed to offer - Our guests deserve better, and I really do hope you'll come back so that we can deliver the same experience you are accustomed to. Meanwhile, can you please share with me more details so i can look into it right away - I appreciate your time and i really appreciate your support and business. Hope to hear from you, Mehdi, GM
Excellent food and drinks. Service was ok but slow. And it was extremely loud, so we had to talk loudly to carry on a conversation. All in all a very good meal, but some shortcomings.
The chicken milanese was delicious and came in huge portions, but the pasta was average and a few of the pastas dishes lacked any significant flavor.
The ambiance was exceptionally loud but not in a busy or "energetic" way, but more in that the acoustics of the dining room are terrible and all of the voices echo off of the low ceiling extremely loudly. I definitely don't recommend if you're hoping to have conversation with your group - we decided to go elsewhere for dessert because we couldn't hear each other at all and were tired of trying to shout over the noise.
They tried to seat 6 of us at a four top booth in the middle of the walk thru at bar area and stuck a tiny table and chairs on the end.
Good food and great service would def go back again.
Second time going here. First time we came for dinner and had pizza with beet salad. Everything was delicious. Second time was for brunch. Poached eggs were delicious, so was the Nutella flatbread (but I wish they had put more strawberries than bananas). Frittata was good too but the other two were much tastier. Service was excellent and everyone was super accommodating about me bringing a two month old baby. Next time I hope to try the pasta.
I have been for both happy hour and dinner. The food is delicious, the service attentive without being annoying, and affordable. This is my new neighborhood go-to in the neighborhood for Italian
Delicious mushrooms & ravioli, salmon, and pasta with clams.
Great pre-theater dinner.
Over all very good. Salad and pizzas were very good so was desert. The second time we went to eat and the only real issue is the noise. Very hard to have a conversation.
Very nice space and good food and service. We had dinner before going to Studio Theater down the street. Great choice
The food is yummy but we didn't get seated for almost a half an hour after our reservation time, and it took around 45 minutes for our food to come out after we ordered. Service was terrible. While the waitress was kind, she never checked in on our table and we had to ask multiple people for the check, which eventually showed up. Ambiance is trendy and while I would recommend this as a great weeknight date spot, I won't be returning on the weekends. The restaurant was too loud and it was impossible to have a conversation.
Food was decent. I didn’t enjoy the apple tart. It wasn’t warm and the taste and texture were disappointing. Overall, we had a good time.
Avoid the noisy trendy spots on 14Th and come here for home made pasta and great prices
And you can actually have a conversation here
Host is a REAL Italian - from Milano
Excellent as always
