Servino Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
The menu was very short. (Easy for the cooks but not attractive for the customer) Frustrated, I ordered a pizza . I purposely ordered it well-done. It came to me browned on top, wet and soggy on the bottom. We had to ask for bread 3 times. Water, at the table, was out for a long time. I won't be back here again.
We had dined here last April while visiting the area and liked it so much that we decided to come back for my Birthday, driving all the way from Menlo Park. When we arrived I said how excited I was to be there for my birthday. We were seated outside and then proceeded to wait one half hour before any service arrived, not even water. There was a server taking care of tables around us but it was as if we were invisible. I finally asked her if we could get some menus or water and then a gentleman arrived some time later and apologized and said that they were busy. That would have all been sort of tolerable although on one's birthday it feels not so special, but the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered a seafood lasagna special that sounded good with scallops and shrimp. The scallops were no where to be found and the couple of shrimp that were in it were not fresh and tasted like thawed frozen shrimp that were past their time with a chemical aftertaste. We also ordered a porcini mushroom ravioli dish, which was just okay and sitting in a pool of butter. We were going to order more food but with the bad service and poor food quality we went to dessert. No candle or anything special there either. Dessert was the best part of the meal though. I had a flan and my husband had an affogatto. Our son ordered a pizza and he loves pizza and said well, he has had much better elsewhere. Overall it was not a great experience and we will not go back. I guess that one good thing was that a man other than our server did ask how we liked our food and I told him about the lasagna and he did comp us half of the price of the dish.
Servino's has been around a long time - recently the food has taken a giant leap in quality and the place is humming. Really nice service staff and a great location on the water. An authentic piece of Italy with jazz experiments in evolving trends in both food and wine
A complete and amazing experience from convenient parking options, charming options, prompt service, the best gluten-free menus we had the pleasure of choosing from, great wine options, charming hostess, prompt service spiced with a fantastic live jazz band. Definitely gourmet dining and perfect ambiance.
Servino's in Tiburon is our favorite! The view is outrageous!!!!
The meals we always enjoyable and delicious specials. I had swordfish with spinach and sundried tomatos.
Great service, bus staff always kept water full and recognized us.
Located right by angel island ferry.
Observed parents of tired children letting them run off energy at dock, not disturbing customers at all. It was nice for parents to be so close to tables. A mother held her baby and walked near the table and around dock to make her baby happy.
Highly recommend family gatherings with multiage families. Wheelchair access as well
Fantastic attentive staff. Terminally mediocre food for lunch. Underripe heritage tomatoes with burrata, no herbs, watery tasteless minestrone soup with few vegies and no meat, pizza with soggy middle, skimpy fill, with bare spots. Too bad. Restaurant is lovely. Tiburon is a great location. I understand food is better at dinner.
Nice setting on the water - food was generally good. What fell very, very short was the service. It was flat out awful. Our server was no where to be found for most of our meal - we wanted to order nice wine and have a lovely dinner - once we tracked our server down to order wine it took 15 minutes for him to return -- we asked the hostess for help but no one seemed to care that we weren't getting service. We finished our food - with no wine- then closed out and went somewhere else to spend our money and have a nice evening.
Servino's food NEVER disappoints - the fish and the salads are wonderful! The location is super too - right on the water in Tiburon. The only complaint our party had was that Servino is VERY dated. It desperately needs a facelift. The paint looks like it was done 20 years ago. And the restaurant & bathroom has an old smell - not fresh. They really need to hire an interior designer to give the place an overhaul. It needs new paint, new art, new decor. Feels very old & out of style. The outside seating COULD be incredible for the same reason if only they would spend some money to update it & beautify it.
The food is OUTSTANDING so we keep coming back, but we often DON'T come to Servino if we want atmosphere on night or days that we WOULD if it was better looking and smelled fresh & new. So they lose business for this reason. I know we are not the only ones who feel this way. It's a common complaint when Servino comes up on conversation. Everyone LOVES the food, especially their extensive gluten-free menu, but everyone also wishes it was a more stylish restaurant to bring out of town guests to or just for ourselves.
Unfortunately, our attentive server made an anti-semetic remark about the owner as we were presented with the bill. Entire table heard him, so it was very clear and verifiable. Did he know most of us are Jewish? It happened as server dashed away before we could react.
Ok for owner to call me about this.
Italian food was delicious and not over-salted. Gluten-free items equally good.
I had asked my husband to book this restaurant for our anniversary because of the spectacular view. Unfortunately, miscommunication on our end, he did not request an outdoor table. So I was immediately disappointed. We were seated in a cozy booth but we could have been sitting in Chicago for all that mattered.
The waiter eventually greeted us and then disappeared for at least 15 minutes. In the meantime, someone else took our drink order and someone else brought us wine. So that was positive. When he returned, I was able to ask questions about the menu (the difference in the sauces on the gnocchi vs. the gnocchetti). The waiter started on a canned speech about the difference in the pastas. I interupted him to say that I was just curious about the sauces. He responded that I needed to let him finish. Granted I interupted him, but I would have preferred he answered only the question I asked. Without atttitude.
He left again. This time, he was gone so long that I actually asked another staff member where our waiter was. Apparently I asked his boss because he when he returned to the table, he commented: "My boss said you were looking for me." It was awkward.
I found the menu to be heavy in pasta - granted it's an Italian restaurant. But I struggled to find something with more protein. My gnocchi was great as was my white wine.
As we left, I noticed an entire "Specials" board that had salmon and other lovely dishes. Our waiter never offered us the specials that night. I was very disappointed.
I will not return to this restaurant.
Our server was rude and forgetful. She critized our selections and forgot our requests for beverages and food items. Appeared rushed and concerned with other tables when there were only 2 other tables of patrons. Would not recommend place if looking for A+ service. Check out Latin restaurant instead.
Look, it's a great location and a great place. The table service is friendly, and the food is quite good. I feel at home there, a few blocks from my actual home, but I think that everyone gets a good time. Sit on the deck for nice weather, or private party upstairs. Watch the boats.
We recently had dinner here and found the ambiance quite nice. We could have a conversation without yelling which was great. The food was good but we had ordered our meal as courses, just as it is written on the menu. Salad, appetizer, primi, secondi. The salad and appetizer were brought simultaneously and the pasta course was brought at the same time as the secondi or main entree. We would have preferred that the kitchen and server had delivered the food as ordered so that we could enjoy each course separately. The entree was warm but not hot. I would try it again but make it clear that I want the courses served as ordered.
For the price I guess we were expecting better, but the food here was just ok. My filet mignon (house special that evening) was ordered medium-well but arrived rare. The scallops appetizer ($ 16) was microscopic - three tiny scallops about the size of small shrimp - tasty sauce but most of it went to waste because we couldn't get much of it on the tiny little scallops. Desserts were nothing spectacular either. The margharita pizza was quite good and appropriately priced.
Very friendly, hard-working servers; I just wish they had served us better food.
I am saddened to have to write a poor review, but after several attempts of getting a good meal at Servino's I feel I have to be honest. The restaurant ambiance is nice enough and I like that they have a full bar and scenic view but the food really is mediocre as is the service.
I really have tried to like the food and always support local restaurants, but the fish cioppino was flavorless and the pasta my husband ordered had no flavor also. Service was slow even though the restaurant was near empty.
On a positive note the pizza was delicious!
I eat out a great deal all over the bay area. This place was in the top 5 worst places to dine. Yes, the view spectacular but the waiter apparently had other things on his mind then his job and the kitchen sent out tasteless food. Only had a cesare salad and a margherita pizza. Both some of the easiest foods to make. Neither had flavor, pizza served cold/room temp while I was eating my salad.
We really like Servino's. We have met the owners on multiple occasions and enjoy their personal approach. But if they're not available the service can be hit or miss. Which is unfortunate. Great wine expertise and options. They have a great wine inventory and you can get wine off the menu sometimes. A little too expensive for the service and food however. If their prices were better we would go there more. If you have a group and it's for a special occasion the owners generally treat you with the utmost care...which is a nice thing.
We sat outside and the deck looks like it really needs to be upgraded. The green astro turf in the back corner is all ripped and the floor just doesn't look clean. The service was slow. 2 really liked their food and the 2 who had gluten free pizza thought their pizzas were flavorless. We live in Tiburon and have frequented the restaurant and felt that it has gone down hill. In spite of our experience, we had a great time and the view is spectacular.
Food is amazing and my family is very picky. We love real Italian food as we spend 2 months in Italy every summer. Carpaccio and tuna tartare are outstanding and the gelato is to die for.
Great service. This will be our weekly dinner even if it takes 2 hours to get there!
