Absolutely first-rate and interesting. The artichoke soup was beautiful (though it could have been served hotter): beautiful texture and flavor, with small bits of chestnut in it, and with a chive oil on top of an intense color. (Supposedly chive; it didn't taste of chive; instead, there was a rosemary taste.) There's a Chinese vibe to many of the dishes, such as the fried cauliflower with shrimp, where the shrimp is like the shrimp stuffing in Chinese restaurants and the short rib of beef is like beef with broccoli. That was a hit with the table, though I found it a little too obvious and I found the broccoli meh. I preferred the prochetta - unlike the rest of the table. I liked the crispy skin and the pork belly itself was much less fatty than I'd feared. The broccoli here was more interesting. (Yes, the server should have told us we'd have two dishes with broccoli.) Part of what is so interesting is the layering of tastes. I also really liked Friday Saturday Sunday.

This was our second time dining at serpico and, as before, we sat at the counter by the chefs. The chefs are so nice about answering questions on what they’re working on while busy preparing the food. For us that’s a big part of the experience.

Again the food was fabulous. I wish they would offer a mirror to see the server who stands behind you! I know it sounds silly but it’s quite hard to order or talk to the server when they stand directly behind you.

This visit there must have been a mixup with our order because the waiter realized ,
After a 30 minute wait, that we had not received our entree. An apology would have been nice.

Overall it’s a good dining experience

Very attentive service, good food - standout was the fried cauliflower, and the special for the night - scallops and shrimps with crispy sunchokes on lobster bouillabaisse.

Each item we ordered was great. I'm a vegetarian, and had plenty to choose from. My husband had the short ribs and loved it. Don't miss dessert -- the sweet potato dessert sounded "meh" in its description but was, in fact, fantastic.

Excellent all around, menu may not be for everyone as some selections are a bit unusual but it’s all delicious, just need to be a bit adventurous with a few of the menu choices

Honestly love this restaurant the food is as good as you will find!! The creations made to share are outstanding and this is a regular place when I travel to philly. But beyond the food the staff works together in the front of the house to the waiters, runners and kitchen staff like a well oiled machine never pretentious just exceptional service!

In two words; outstanding food. That's about it. If you want an accessible entry into Asian fusion food, you have to go here. Excellent presentation,t he most insanely helpful waitstaff, and arguably the best pre-dinner cocktails I've ever had.

Our meal and service were fantastic! From someone holding the door when you enter and when you leave, to welcoming, friendly yet never stuffy service, to amazing food it was a perfect and exceptional experience! Order anything on the menu- you will love everything. Our favorites were the duck mole, the ceviche special and the steal tataki. I love the ambiance here- low lighting, open kitchen and quiet volume make it so nice. Loved everything about our experience here! Note that the wine pours per glass are very small and it may be worth bringing your own bottle despite a $30 corkage fee.

I thought this was alot of noise about nothing much. At an unusally high price there was an obviously creative team concocting special dishes but I found no rhyme or reason for what things went together- sort of " ooh let's try these and see what happens!" Nice vibe inside and attractive but pretentious.

Serpico is an outstanding restaurant. This was our 4th visit and each time the experience has been fantastic. The food is creative and top-notch and service is attentive but unobtrusive. We especially love sitting at the chef's counter and watching the team work to prepare the meal. We highly recommend this restaurant.

All we could taste was SALT.
This restaurant came recommended. We were a party of 4 and tried 5 dishes - ALL were over salted and not enjoyable in the least. We did tell the manager and she was kind enough to remove the cost of all the entrees from our bill. We all grateful this did not take an argument which would have further soured the evening. The prices are prohibitive, ranging from $18 apps to $42 heavier entrees and the portions were extremely small.
The ambiance left much to be desired as well; chalkboard walls with the menu written over and over again. Overall a very bad choice and tasteless (except for the salt) dining experience. Pass it up and eat elsewhere.

Serpico is a gem. One of the very best restaurants in Philadelphia that holds its own with the best in NYC. Inventive and consistently well-prepared food. No weak spots. Ambiance is open, chic and very welcoming. The wait staff - and the bartender - are simply the best anywhere. We had a party of six and they handled every question expertly and warmly. Cocktails at the cool little bar are the equal of the superb food. Highly recommend Serpico. It’s terrific.

Continues to be one of my must visits when I am in Philadelphia. The food and service never disappoint. And where one might might misstep the other steps up for. This past visit there was one dish I found lacking but the service and hospitality provided more than made up any concerns I would have had.

Seemed like an odd place for a Steven Starr restaurant, on south street but we tried it. It is small, no windows, very industrial looking. We were early for our reservation and there was literally no place to stand. The hostess sent us down the street to a local bar to wait our table. Food was good, but not worth $100 per person.

Did not disappoint. The porchette was excellent...quality of a michelin starred restaurant. Wagyu beef was outstanding and the apple cake dessert was the perfect finish. Server couldn't have been more helpful. We ordered a wine that was so-so and he whisked it away deftly replacing it with one that was much more complex.
Love the edgy bistro feel. We live jn CT but will definitely make a return trip next time we're in Philly!

I was only in Philadelphia for one hour when I used Open Table and found Serpico. What an amazing introduction to this city. The atmosphere was amazing but was topped by the outstanding food and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Every item put before us was so interesting. Culinary miracles. The wine director was beyond helpful and clearly enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge. Fabulous dining experience.

Heard about this through a colleagues recommendation. Sat at the bar which is the best seat in the house. Watched the chef and staff meticulously prepare all their dishes. Incredible chefs table experience. Staff was excellent with their recommendations on food and drink. Phenomenal atmosphere with great vibes. The menu is a foodies dream. Each dish is absolutely mind blowing. From the appetizers to main course, their heart and souls goes into it. Also visually stunning as well. Top Resturant in Philadelphia !

We asked to sit at the counter overlooking the kitchen and were accommodated without difficulty. There was an excellent selection of menu items and specials. The ceviche special was a standout item notable for its freshness and texture. The only miss was the dessert. The pumpkin panna cotta was a bit firm. Taste was fine, but texture was off.

The food is very good. The wine list is manipulative with lesser named products that the typical wine lover would not know nor have an idea of an appropriate price of. I am a wino and don't appreciate the wine list games. No one with wine knowledge was available for consult. Our waiter was not trained nor was he professional.

Another great dinner at Serpico. The fall menu is awesome, and the chefs at the counter, servers, and manager were wonderful to us! The dry aged sirloin tataki and chicken & snail lasagna are a must - but you definitely can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Love having this restaurant in Philly!
