The food is very good. The wine list is manipulative with lesser named products that the typical wine lover would not know nor have an idea of an appropriate price of. I am a wino and don't appreciate the wine list games. No one with wine knowledge was available for consult. Our waiter was not trained nor was he professional.
Another great dinner at Serpico. The fall menu is awesome, and the chefs at the counter, servers, and manager were wonderful to us! The dry aged sirloin tataki and chicken & snail lasagna are a must - but you definitely can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Love having this restaurant in Philly!
Serpico delivers truly impeccable food, service, and ambiance.
Just wanted to check it out. Great experience sitting at the counter.
It was pretty much 50/50.
Half the dishes were outstanding.
The other half were ok to disappointing.
We all loved it, loved it, loved it. Chef Serpico provided an outstanding blend of tastes to his dishes that will have us coming back for more when we next visit Philly. Thank you!!!
We went for Thanksgiving Dinner. The evening began with Serpico's family recipe for Mac n' Cheese. It was delicious. The dinner itself was traditional with Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and mashed potatoes. They offered a unique Loire Valley Chenin Blanc that was perfect for the meal. We finished with an Apple Pie dessert. Our only complaint would be that the server didn't ask if we wanted one or two desserts. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I believe that we will return to try their menu for another special occasion. The prices are a bit high though not for Philly. The food, ambiance, and efforts to meet or exceed the patrons' expectations are worth the price point.
Outstanding experience. Attention to detail from start to finish in all facets of the meal. It was Thanksgiving dinner and was not sure what to expect but the staff made it one of our most special holiday dining experiences.
So good that we returned the following night! Fantastic meal & service. Next night was Thanksgiving & we loved the turkey dinner & phenomenal mac'n' cheese. Even the bartender deserves accolades for his wonderful cocktails. Serpico's is well worth the cost of a meal.
Each food dish was superb and the service was great ...Thanks William ! Meal was top rate but, a little pricey.... also the cocktail and drink pours we quite skimpy. I would go back in a heart beat if my pocketbook could stand the hit.
Absolutely amazing meal! This is the third time I've had the pleasure of eating at Serpico, and it continues to be one of the top restaurants in Philadelphia in my humble opinion.
We each had the plates and so had a solid portion of the menu overall. The highlights were the diver scallops with buttermilk, poppy seeds and yuzu, and the porchetta with broccoli, which was a special. Both were mind blowingly good.
The porchetta was rich and crunchy, with some nice herbal notes, balanced with a broccoli salad that was needed to break up the fattiness of the pork. Delicious!
The scallops were tender and fresh, and the flavors to turns in your mouth, starting off with sweet fishiness, transitioning into the tangy buttermilk, and finishing with the yuzu and Poppy seeds. A really complex and wonderful dish!
Excellent culinary experience and fantastic service.
Our first time here and loved it. Especially liked the idea of sharing the selections. There were 3 of us so we got to tasted more dishes. The beet and goat cheese salad, mushroom risotto and beef short ribs were some of my favorites. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Also very helpful in making gluten free selections.
Great sharing experience. Food was delicious and unique. We would dine here again
Good food and experience, felt a bit rushed
Let me just start off by saying: Wow! Dining at Serpico was an experience for all the senses, and especially for the taste buds. Everything was new to the pallet in a fabulous way. Textures and design complimented the just right and never overdone combinations of flavors. Our favorites were a middle plate: Egg custard with jumbo lump crab, brown butter, crispy potatoes and long hots; and a large plate: Ora King Salmon with caviar, Napa cabbage, smoked creme fraiche and dill. The wine list is pricey but the servers are well informed to assist you with the right selection to compliment your meal. Don't go hungry not thirsty. Go for a most amazing experience! Bring your credit card. It's worth it.
There were 4 of us at Serpico so we were able to try 4 small plates and 2 entrees. Mushroom, custard, and eggplant were outstanding. Squash and risotto solid but not as special as the others. Everyone loved the oxtail stew. Halibut with beet surprise underneath was well done. Apple cake was outstanding (more like Apple dumpling).
Creative, unique... each plate was an experience of its own. Highly recommend the raw divers scallops and egg custard. Chefs counter seating was "food theatre"!
Fantastic food and our server could not have been nicer! Great experience overall.
The food was delicious, but the portions were small and the prices were steep. Also be prepared to share! 75% of the menu is sharing style (which I love). I love that they have a small menu, but I wish there was more variety, ie vegetarian friendly option. Overall it was delicious, and I would recommend it for special occasions / good for foodies.
I was truthfully so excited for Serpico because of the reviews. I had made an open table reservation but a table was not ready when we arrived so we were seated at the bar for about ten minutes. After which the hostess took us to the kitchen side bench - in front of the hand washing sink. I requested a table, which the hostess denied, saying they don't guarantee tables. She came back several minutes later and moved us. The rice crackers that came out first were incredible. They set my expectations high. I tried to order the ginger cocktail but the bar was out of one of the ingredients. I ordered the floral which was, again incredible. Unfortunately it was blaise from there. The food preparation was done so skillfully. Everything individually was cooked well but the food combinations did not work well. Consistency was also a negative for me since all the dishes had a similar mushy texture. We got the beet salad which was delicious but was more of a soup. It was my favorite of the night. We then had steak tataki, egg custard, mushroom tartar, and halibut. The egg custard confused me because they served it in a dish and said it was best to scoop it into your own bowl. The single bowls were cold which made the egg custard cold. It would have been a delicious dish (sans the crunchy rice bits) had it been served piping hot. The mushroom tartar was too salty for the carrier. It was served with a fingerling potato chip which didn't hold the salt of the tartar well enough. The halibut was prepared really well but beat puree, halibut, horseradish, apple, and asparagus just fought too much. There wasn't a consistent flavor. For a $200 meal I walked away really dissatisfied with flavor combination, service, and consistency.
Great food, reasonable prices for portion sizes. Sit at the chefs counter, makes it dinner and a show!
Really cool experience. The place was packed when we came in, but they were still able to honor our reservation time, which was great for the reservation being so last-minute. Food was outstanding. We were told the menu was set up like a three course meal, but made for sharing, so between three of us we split two apps and each got our own meal. The Caledonian Blue Prawns were an original dish I highly enjoyed, and the Wagyu skirt steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Only complaint is that the server was not very attentive. She did not offer another round of drinks when we finished our first, and was not around when my meal came out so I was unable to order the glass of wine I would have liked with my dinner.
Wine by the glass measured using a thimble. Very inconsistent from glass to glass. An hour-and-half before entrees were served. Otherwise good food and good vibe.
Best restaurant in Philly. Been here many times. It remains consistent.
The place is pricy , very pricy for the area.
It was my second time and the food wasn't a stellar. The wagu beef was tough and didn't taste good at all. However my friend's dish was very good.
The food is beautiful and the place is very cool.
Great food! Beautiful environment! Definately will be returning! Chef zack was amazing and made our dinner special as well
Excellent food. Excellent and helpful staff. Good place for a relaxed dinner.
SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING WAITER WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL WITH ORDERING AND PACING OF MEAL ARCHICHOKE SOUP DELICIOUS BUT LUKEWARM DIDNT LIKE THE CUSTARD BEEF TATAKE, CHICKEN SNAIL LASAGNE , SHORT RIBS, APPLE CAKE SOME OF THE BEST FLAVORS IVE EATEN HALIBUT ENTRE WAS NOT HOT ALSO DESPITE FEW FAILIGS GREAT EXPERIENCE
We loved our dinner at Serpico. We had been wanting to try it since it opened and it did not dissapoint. Slow-poached halibut, ceviche, prawns and beef tataki were highlights in an overall outstanding experience. Service was excellent.
We had an incredible experience at Serpico. The food is original and outstanding. Each dish is truly unique. Our server was extremely knowledgeable on wine pairings and we had an incredible experience. We have recommended this to several friends and family already!
Visiting Philly and was lookin for a farm to table, small plate, restaurant where the chef was artistic and who took great pride in their food as well as presentation. Serpico certainly fit that bill. It wa a wonderful meal and evening. I sat at the Chef's bar and was able to watch all the creative efforts of the staff as they prepared each of the dishes. It was definitely my kind of place and I highly recommend anyone to dine here.
Honestly, the food preparation was too fussy and that statement is not made because I have simple food tastes. We ordered 3 fish entrees and the fish was underdone in 2 of the 3 and each fish serving was very small served over differing mush. Not great tasting mush. Just mush. In trying to get too cute and precious— they just missed completely. They couldn’t even serve a palatable beet and goat cheese salad. Don’t get me started on what they bring out to replace the bread. When the bill came (very very expensive) I apologized to my companions. The meal wasn’t worth a third of the price! Avoid.
Absolutely stellar meal from the knowledgeable, personable and talented bartender to every inspired and complex dish we savored. The diver scallops were delicate bites of perfectionm, as were the wagyu skirt steak and the short ribs. The egg custard was silken and featured delectable lump crab and crunchy potatoes that were the perfect textural counterpoint. Desserts included an inspiringly light yuzu semifreddo, a prickly pear sorbet and an appple caramel cake that was sublime. A perfect eve.
Really beautiful spot with interesting menu options...and wow...the food was great. Can't wait to go back.
Serpico never ceases to amaze me with the variety and quality of its preparations. I go frequently, and there are always new additions to the menu (as well as the daily specials) to ensure that each visit offers something unique. It is also kind of rare to see a chef who is behind the counter almost all the time, and particularly fun to watch him prepare the dish that is about to be served to you.
The artichoke soup was amazing! My mushroom risotto was very good and they were able to make it an entree portion as I am a vegetarian and there are not a lot of vegetarian options. Short ribs were very tender. The crab egg custard was tasty but the custard was a little too odd in texture with the crab for us. Our server Sam was knowledgeable, helpful and extremely upbeat and fun! This was a very nice place but prices are too high for everyday, casual dining.
One of the best eating places in Philadelphia. I been to most of the
good restaurants in Philly. Serpico is still one of the rare, under appreciated
gems in the city.
Hands down one of the best restaurants I have been to in the city. High Quality food, layers of flavor in every course. OUTSTANDING!!
Great meal. Food was fantastic. Service was very good. Highly recommend.
