Serpico - Philadelphia
Serving dinner only, the cuisine is ingredient-driven offering a seasonally evolving menu of playful yet familiar takes on global fare. A small hand-picked list of food-friendly wines will perfectly complement the menu and a quality cocktail program will focus on boutique spirits.
My wife and I found this restaurant as one of the best we've visited in Philly! We would come back to dine here whenever we visit Philly!
The most creative and innovative food in Philadelphia. One of our favorite!
Amazing dinner with the birthday boy! Every dish we had was incredible! From the sun choke, mushroom, lamb bacon and coffee oil soup, to the snail and chicken lasagne with bechemel sauce and walnut Yuzu pesto (licked the plate) to the dry aged duck breast with cabbage stuffed with duck, to the Cala Cala orange panda cotta and apple cake we were blown away! Great service and decor also! #droolworthy #gaygourmet #yummy
Food was very lack-luster but desserts were great.
Dishes were inventive and delicious, but portions were very small for the prices. Dishes are served family-style, so you need to order 3 dishes per person from the small plate, medium plate, and entree columns on the menu. Highlights were the Deep Fried Duck Leg and pork entrees. The shrimp mousse small plate was too gelatinous, too small a portion for the price and not flavorful - a bad choice. Each of our three desserts was terrific: Rocky Road, apple cake covered in chocolate paired with vanilla ice cream, and an orange panna cotta.
The room is a large brick box without dividers, making it very noisy. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. Wines were limited, but cocktail options were abundant.
So go if you seek innovative dishes. My wife is not an adventurous eater, so she looked at the menu and wondered "what will I find to eat here"?
Prepare to spend $75+ per person (before tip), and ask detailed questions about the portion size and preparation for each dish. I enjoyed the meal, but not enough to return. If not for the great desserts, I would have left hungry.
Can’t decide who’s #1 in Philly or the country but Serpico is one of the best.
Was told this restaurant was the best and Philly and was the most disappointed I’ve been in a long time. Got to the restaurant 5 mins before the time of the reservation (8pm). They told us they were running behind and that we could get a drink at the bar that was completely full and people were already standing next to the bar waiting - I asked if we could sit at one of the 10 open tables for a drink before sitting at our reserved chef’s counter and they declined and we were asked to leave. They called us back 25 minutes later to come back. The hostess then walked us over to the counter, proceeded to tell us the counter wasn’t set yet, then had us wait again. Hostess and staff were unprofessional and unaccommodating. Finally sat down and put in the entire order at 830pm. We were served one of the five courses we ordered and then it took over an hour to be served again. The food was very good but extremely overpriced for what you get. Left the restaurant hungry and with a hefty check over $200 for two people. Will never return.
Good meal, good surroundings, great service - pricey for Philly
Booked this for my boss on his work trip and he didn’t stop raving about it! 10/10 For everything.
Good for other PA’s to know this is a great place to book in Philadelphia! Thank you Serpico
Creative choices like the Romanesco Cauliflower with whipped Feta and Savory Donuts with white smoke fish cream. Fresh ingredients,
The food was remarkable. The wait staff professional and informative. Extraordinaire! Highly recommend!
Wonderful. Perfect service and a delicious meal
Best service & food in Philadelphia
Excellent courses and cocktails. Will happily return again as the seasons/menu changes.
Diver scallops are a must.
Hadn't been in a year or two and the food and menu were outstanding. Really impressed across the board
Excellent service, adorable ambiance with a beautiful open kitchen, great food!
Great place, great food. All good.
If you'd like to treat yourself or a loved one to a special experience I highly recommend coming here. The food is excellent, extremely fresh ingredients and creative offerings. The ambience manages to remain casual and unpretentious. I had the halibut with the savory carrot cake with old bay season - it was easily the best seafood dish I've had. The scallops with buttermilk were so refreshing - we tried all three desserts and my goodness, it was a happy ending to a stellar meal.
Food & Service was excellent!!
The food is excellent every time I come. Great service as well.
Phenomenal restaurant but a bit on the pricier side
Been to Serpico twice. First time, we sat at a table and the second time, we sat at the chef’s counter. Food was quite delicious on both occasions, but sitting at the chef’s table just elevates the entire experience. Seeing it all go down really solidifies how hard they work at the little details that make every dish the culinary experience you’re paying for. If you’re looking for quantity, this is not the place for you. Portions are shareable, but a tasting size at best. What you’re paying for is the experience, ingredients and presentation. A must try!
This is the greatest food in Philadelphia, which is saying a great deal, given the culinary scene of Philadelphia! Chef Peter Serpico is truly a culinary artist, making magic! His kitchen and staff make beautiful food together, which is a joy to watch! The care in which the wait staff takes is beyond. Thank you to Anthony, the host with the most, for making sure our evening was seamless! I cannot wait to return!
1. Service was very good with knowledgeable and attentive staff. Excellent wine list with good pairings to the courses on the menu.
2. The ambience and setting was really nice, albeit a bit loud. However, it was a good kind of loud with energy and buzz in the room.
3. The kitchen is very well run and on point with all dishes.
4. Could be a 5 star for food based on the concepts in each dish, and the execution is flawless, but each item on the menu I tasted lacked one little element to take it up a notch to a "5" level. I realize that simplicity and purity are the aims here, but for just one example, the signature scallops are delicious but imagine for a moment if they had one extra element of crunch and salinity.
Food was divine and Anthony made our experience extra special. Cool space, love open kitchen and watching chefs do their ‘magic’. Did I mention that outstanding food??? Only wish we could have tried every plate!
Simply amazing! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We got there at the beginning of service and had a lengthy meal. Though they were getting super crowded no one rushed us out, as it sometimes happens at other restaurants. the food was sublime.
The perfect meal from drinks to dessert! We have been many times and I can't help but order the same items they are so delicious. Each time we leave I dream about our next visit and ordering the same dishes once again. Perfection!
Chef Peter Serpico is amazing. The staff at Serpico are top notch & very accommodating. We had a very enjoyable dining experience. Keep up the excellent work
A fantastic meal, from delicious cocktails to start, all the way through a number of plates to my favorite, the lamb. Scallops are a real standout! No room for dessert, so can't comment on those. The service was great; everyone who brought food to the table was able to tell us about the dishes.
This is now my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. There were six of us on Sunday night and we enjoyed such a wonderful array of delicious dishes. The space is beautiful and the kitchen is well organized with everyone working together with precision. The menu was inspiring and so satisfying. Truly a great experience for my birthday!
Thank you!
If you're looking for an inventive, healthy, absolutely scrumptious selection of incredibly well-prepared plates ... LOOK NO FURTHER. Serpico is without doubt one of the best in the city and (unlike others), always makes you feel welcome. No snootiness here. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. And a nicely done wine list as well. Highly recommended.
Everything was delicious. The prices for wine way too high. Waiter was nice but had a lot of tables. I would have liked to ask a few more questions. They remembered the notation about my friends birthday.
It was my girlfriend’s birthday and, because she happens to be a chef, I chose to sit at the chef’s table. It was a great decision. Not only did we get to experience a meal which encompassed flavors that expanded both of our culinary horizons but she very much enjoyed the kitchen symphony of the team working together led by the maestro. We are both looking forward to the next performance.
Best restaurant for foodies in the city. Food is completely unique and absolutely delicious. If all Philly restaurants starting seeming like the same tired menu.. this is your place.
We had family in town and brought them to Serpico.
We had a fabulous meal. Ambiance is energetic and cocktails were great. They loved it!
I can’t say enough about Serpico. Literally everything we ordered was an excellent taste explosion in our mouths. Dining here is such a pleasure - not only is the food exceptional, the staff is so good. No rush, familiar with the wine list, and attentive. It’s not inexpensive but worth every penny because it’s a meal you will remember.
one of my favorite restaurants in philadelphia, hands down. beautifully designed, intimate lighting and decor, and the food never disappoints.
The food is outstanding! I really prefer to sit at the counter by the kitchen when possible. The drink service was the only thing I might complain about. It took a long time to get drinks not just at the beginning but throughout the dinner. They made a mistake with the wine, too. Otherwise the service was terrific.
Unique experience - the food was almost too intelligent for us but very good. Service was accommodating and they offered everything a first timer there would need to know.
Outstanding! We sat at Chef's counter, able to watch as they prepare all of their beautiful dishes and talk to the Chef's makes for a stellar experience. Absolutely fabulous in every way! Can't wait to return.
