Serpico - Philadelphia
Serving dinner only, the cuisine is ingredient-driven offering a seasonally evolving menu of playful yet familiar takes on global fare. A small hand-picked list of food-friendly wines will perfectly complement the menu and a quality cocktail program will focus on boutique spirits.
Great food and service.
Very unique menu! Everything was so delicious. Yes it is expensive, but that is typical for Steven Starr and also typical for restaurants like this. We sat at the counter which was great because you can watch the chefs do their thing!!
Our server, Elena, was exceptional in her timing and attention, as were other staff members. I think the pricing is rather steep. The noise level was quite acceptable as the restaurant was at capacity and we marveled how the cook staff quietly went about their business with an occasional laugh at one another.
Although a little pricey the food at Serpico is exquisite! Serpico is my go to spot for an intimate dinner or just a causal week day experience. My boyfriend and I usually try to sit at the chiefs table where we can watch the show which is always fascinating watching the food being prepared. There is a hip feel to the dining room without being stuffy. The drinks are unusual and add another element to the already creative food experience. Serpico is a gem in a very eclectic neighborhood of South Street.
Best meal I've had in Philly in a long time. Unique and worth a visit.
Portion small, over priced, Poorly trained waiter, didn’t suggest wine by the glass, after dropping $200, was still hungry, so got a burger after dinner!
Peter is so talented and generous, stellar experience as always. One of my favorite gems in this city still holding it down and keeping it real.
Love sitting at chefs counter and seeing the action. Service was great, food was great. My favorite restaurant in philly.
Little known gem in Philly.
Not cheap, but worth every penny! We have been going once a year for the past 5 years, and have never been disappointed. To top it all, staff always made us feel special. Thank you Serpico ;)
I knew going into it that sharing plates is the way to go. My girlfriend and I split 5 plates and let our server choose what to bring us since there isn’t a tasting menu. Every dish was outstanding. We stuck with cocktails which were fantastic but they have a very good looking and extensive wine list as well. Ambiance was great. We sat at the counter overlooking the kitchen and loved watching them cook. I think it’s perfect for 2 people on a date because of the sharing but definitely recommend it for any occasion
The wait staff was helpful and knowledgeable, very friendly. The food was outstanding. We ordered about half the menu and weren't disappointed by a single dish. The cocktails were unique and delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Very exceptional food
Food and drinks were creative and delicious. Service was kind and attentive. Strongly recommend Serpico and anticipate dining there again.
Beautiful food, with ingenious use of textures and flavors. Great theater sitting at the counter and thoughtful and attentive service. It was my birthday and did not disappoint
Been coming here for years! each time we’re in the city
A favorite... Great cocktails. ..Interesting wine list. ..delicious food...flawless, relaxed service
The food was amazing! Best food I had in a long time! The restaurant was very nice and clean! The service was awesome! Everyone was very nice. I will definitely be coming back soon!
We had a wonderful experience at Serpico, it was a great choice for a special occasion birthday.
The service was excellent, our seasoned waiter guided us through a very pleasant and varied experience of the concise menu, giving very precise descriptions of the dishes available. The food did not disappoint, providing excellent and interesting combinations that were very adventurous and delicious. The portions are not large but we all felt very satisfied with the meal.
Dessert were surprising and delicious try the all, we did, and were not disappointed. The only negative came when it all added up for the bill, all this does not come cheap. There is some sticker shock when the check arrives.
If you can afford it, go often, if you need to save up for these great food indulgences, this is definitely one that is worth it.
Imaginative, spectacular and pure flavors in an inviting setting with wonderful service. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is inviting. Really a gem.
Always the same, excellent
Nice service, nice atmosphere but disappointing food for vegetarians. Too much use of “foam” (nut/cheese) and not enough options. Also quite mushroom heavy and could use a pasta on the menu.
The menu is well-thought out and the food is absolutely delicious. Service is impeccable!
Went to Serpico for Thanksgiving special entre which was excellent; only disappointment was an absurd and surprise corkage fee @ $30 for a single bottle which wasn't revealed at the time of seating. While I asked if there was a corkage fee for BYOB at seating, no mention of the amount was given by hostess, just that one existed. Had I known amount, probably would have purchased wine from them. When I questioned amount at time of check received a terse "our policy is $30 fee". So much for customer caring!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. It was the classics, but elevated and refined. Very reasonable and the cocktails were delish. Adam, our server, was fantastic, the manager was attentive and the vibe was fantastic and festive.
Excellent choice for Thanksgiving dinner! Counter seating doubled as table-side entertainment.
Dinner at Serpico for Thanksgiving platter. Somewhat disappointing when compared with previous Thanksgiving plate here. Turkey was sliced thick, though gravy was fine. Vegetables were tasty, but roll bland. Pecan pie dessert was less than stellar, with soggy crust. Some in our dinner group chose from the regular menu & were pleased with their meals. Service did not match the high levels to which we've become accustomed at Serpico. Still, we'll be back to try this usually- excellent restaurant again.
We came here for my girlfriend’s birthday, we were blown away by how good the food was! Everything was made to share, the flavor was beyond there and everything came out very quickly.
Haven't been to Serpico in two years, but it was as excellent as I remembered. Smart but original food and flavor combinations. Wait staff who k ow the menu and were able to point me to gluten free options. We shared 8 plates between 3 of us and then one desert and it was just the right amount of food. Highly recommend it.
The plates are very fun n delicious. He takes his style and uses different fare to put his spin on it. In your face flavor.
Excellent all the way around. In love with the duck on roll. Rocky road dessert is incredible. My peektoe crab dish was delicious.
Delicious food, cocktail and wine, helpful staff. A little too tight re: seating, which heightened the noise level. Very lovely place.
Probably the best and most innovative restaurants in our City .Exceedingly consistent. The key is the dedication of Peter Serpico to all the details and always being there and in the trenches with his staff. He is cooking and supervises and is just not there for token sake .Very few chefs of his quality have this dedication.
Noise level is very high but food is unusual and incredibly good.
Amazing cocktails and food!
Incredible. Great food, service, and atmosphere.
We had high hopes for this place since it received a 3 bell review. Our waitress acted offended when I told her we had theater tickets for 7PM. Our table was at 5PM. She then criticized my friend for not ordering enough food and frowned on all of us for not opting to share. My starter was ok. The lamb entree was outstanding.
Our 3rd time to Serpico, but first time on a Saturday night -- much more crowded and livelier than we're used to. The food was artfully prepared and very good; portion sizes small. When they say at least 1 dish per column on the menu (3 columns) per diner, it's a fair recommendation. Cocktails are great. Bottles of wine? Not sure. We had the cheapest bottle -- a Negroamaro at $58-- that we regretted (quite thin).
Outstanding, interesting food and great service. One of the best meals we've had in years.
Phenomenal experience in every aspect. highly recommend sitting at the chef's counter for a more immersive experience.
