Set in the heart of Downtown Palm Springs, Serious Food and Drinks is a place to enjoy lunch, dinner and weekend brunches. For lunch you can opt for a burger topped with bacon jam and gouda cheese. If you find yourself at Serious Food and Drink for dinner, a perfectly prepared New York Strip may be exactly what you desire.
Described as an LA Hipster kind of place, Serious Food and Drink seems to be a popular place for weekend brunch. You may find the tuna and bacon melt to your liking or maybe you prefer a more traditional dish like the chicken and waffles.
Was a wonderful time that was had by all.
The food was inventive and very tasty!! The Chef came out and was received with an ovation of clapping.
She was amazing.
Order the Truffle Mac and Cheese balls. Get plenty of sauce!! These are extremely rich tasting and will fill you up. These are made for sharing with your group of friends.
All six of us enjoyed our meal and were the last to leave the restuarant.
Food was good, but small portions. Therefore value vs. price is at issue. Service was slow and adequate. Servers cover too many tables.
They want to be great - but they just aren't quite there yet. Good for a quick neighborhood bite. Restaurant was really slow on a Saturday night. Most of staff was chatting among themselves, texting, etc. I liked the ecclectic menu, but the environment wasn't as cozy as I had hoped. Not bad....but not great. Meh.
Would've been helpful, if our serve made more of an attempt to ask if we wanted separate checks. Was stuck with paying a portion of two bottles of wine that we didn't even participate in drinking.
The food, the atmosphere, and the service was great. My bottomless mimosa never even got less then half be for it was being refilled, fantastic. Will defn be back.
Serious food, but not serious craft beer. I was really disappointed in the selection of "craft beer." All "craft beer" on tap is beer owned by corporate entities like Anheuser-Busch mascaraing as true craft beer. Only one local valley brew was being served and it is my least favorite of the three. When I asked about the other two breweries, my server said, "we tried them all and this was our favorite." I retorted, "You guys must be wine people" and ordered a wine. This may be petty, but if the name of your restaurant is Serious Food and Drink, then every aspect of the drink should be serious too. It most assuredly is not. However, the food was fantastic. We sampled various small plates and everything was great.
There must have been a surplus of dill in the pantry because it was in most of our dishes - and not in a good way. The artichoke was barely warm and had obviously been precooked. The dill dipping sauce was unpleasant. The wedge blue cheese salad dressing had a lot of dill, which conflicted with the blue cheese. The only successful use of dill was in the cold cucumber soup.
Love this place. The owners all work in the business and flit about in back and front t make sure that meals are memorable
Just a short drive from the PS airport. Parking was easy to find on a Friday night. We were seated quickly and the service was wonderful. Drinks were served. We enjoyed our dinner ranging from a beet salad, blue cheese burger and steak frites.
The tables where mostly full of couples and families.
Reasonable bill for great food and atmosphere.
Serious was quite good. Food, service and atmosphere were also great. Cheese plate and the shrimp skewers were quite tasty as well. Specialty drinks were really pleasant as well.
We had a lovely dinner here this weekend but it was not what we were hoping for. The menu is a bit limited. They were out of the best-sounding thing on their menu , which was their soup of the day. It sounded absolutely delicious and apparently was as the story they gave us upon inquiring was that a guest had come in the night before and loved the soup so much that he returned the next day before they opened and bought every drop they had left. This tells me that their soup of the day is actually their soup of several days and also that they clearly do not make the soup every day but rather one large batch that they expect to last for multiple days and they have no back-up plan for running out of something like this or another special. So this was very disappointing, especially after the waiter/owner described in such delectable detail just how amazing the soup was.
There are few main entree items and two of them are fried (Crispy Chicken Parmesan and Fish and Chips), which we had no desire for (these are also the only chicken and fish options; the rest of the menu is a steak, a lamb burger and a pasta dish). So we all settled for appetizers and salads. The roasted artichoke left much to be desired, in that there was almost no "meat" on those leaves whatsoever (true of both the artichokes we ordered and shared among us). The salads were fine but nothing to write home about.
Adding to our disappointment were the returning guests we overheard asking for things they liked on the menu but did not see anymore and then complaining (one couple left) about the lack of their favorite entree, which had been the reason for their return that evening. Then, of course, we had to overhear the "cute story" about their lack of soup for the evening.
On a Saturday evening of a very busy weekend without a single hotel room available, I realized why this new and cute restaurant was the only "hot spot" with available reservation times on the main drag.
Easy to find, great food, wonder service and the best dessert
Serious Food and Drink has become our favorite dining spot in the desert since they have opened their doors just over a year ago. Unfortunately, we reside in Florida which makes our visits only too infrequent. We make sure to stop in for brunch, happy hour and dinner when possible to enjoy the varied (and often changing) menus with generous portions prepared with a creative flair.
The staff, managers and owners are welcoming and attentive to ensure that their guests have a memorable event.
We'll be back in July!!
Great food, dog friendly, attentive service and wonder food. The owner take a personal interest in your satisfaction - servers anticipate your needs and the food is very good. Try the burger - among the best in the desert. We'll become regulars!
I make a point of eating at Serious every time I visit Palm Springs, which is several times a year.
The menu is always evolving, due to seasonal availability. The owners are always there and make a point of making us feel welcome. The food and service are always great. My first experience was for lunch, during opening week. There is never a hiccup. The servers and bussers are always attentive....and thoughtful. This past trip, our server brought me a "taste" of the soup, I never eat soup when the weather is warm, it was SO GOOD, I made an exception to a life long rule! My favorites for lunch are the fish tacos and the pork belly sliders. For dinner, there is nothing bad on the menu!!! Make sure you save room for a yummy dessert.
We are regulars at this family owned and operated restaurant yet we always find something new and exciting on both the food and wine menus. Service is always top notch and the staff has remained consistent and friendly since they have opened. We look forward to having some "serious food" whenever we are in Palm Springs.
The food is high quality. It is whole, real food, handcrafted and housemade. You can't go wrong here. If you care about the food that you put into your body, and also want the most delicious food possible... this is your place! It isn't really expensive either. It is moderate to high priced, but who wouldn't pay for high quality and amazing food?!
good food, good people, excellent cocktails, relaxed atmosphere.
The service was very friendly. We enjoyed the space. Unfortunately while the menu was promising the food was ordinary and too many items had siracha sauce on it. The value wasn't equal to the promise; example: $10.95 for an overdone roasted artichoke.
We were greeted at the door by two very pleasant people who appeared to be genuinely pleased to see us. That is important to us as we have many options for dining and the first impression is one of the things that will definitely bring us back.
Brought first timers for dinner. Very nice. Service was especially great on Friday night before the theatre. The creative menu has a great variety to please a mixed table. Love the space and the vibe. You really do want to check it out. Even just for a drink at the bar.
We loved the Quack Stack with duck confit and french fries. Duck confit is one of my personal favorites that we never make at home and it is so hard to find in Palm Springs. Also loved the beet salad! I know this has been done a lot but salads like this one are the reason why beet salads became so popular. Service is always casual but spot on and we are always greeted upon entry as if they are happy to see us. How nice!
My husband and I were so happy to find Serious F & D. There are very few good breakfast spots in Palm Springs, so we were so pleased to have a great breakfast here. They really pay attention to the eggs cooked perfectly, the bacon hot and crispy and the best hash browns around. I highly recommend this restaurant. On a side note, if you order a Bloody Mary, ask for more of the seasoning on the side if yours isn't flavored enough. They are happy to oblige!
Had a great evening , loved the food , looking forward to dining here again soon !!
It was our second time there and overall, we liked it. I like the staff and the ambiance. My husband & I are both vegetarians and had the hot n sour soup which was just oaky, nothing like the regular Chinese version, but ok. I then had the vegetable kabob over a cooked grain. There was nothing wrong with it per se, but it was quite skimpy, not generous, & honestly not worth the twenty dollar price. We all enjoyed dessert. We will go back again and give it another try!
The food was really good. We came specifically for the quack stack and were not disappointed by that hollaindaise sauce. The entrees were a bit random and the selection wasn't spectacular but everything tasted good. However, the real surprise was how rushed we felt. We would have loved to hang out for another drink and to actually finish all our food but the servers came over every 3 minutes trying to clear our plates and get us out the door. It wasn't that busy and we had a reservation but it felt really uncomfortable. I was disappointed. We were probably there an hour max from sit down to signing the check. They never asked us if we wanted more drinks. Just really seemed to want us to hurry it up.
Wide variety of food selections. Sometimes that can be bad but not here. Food is brought out quickly and has good presentation. Servers are very attentive.
I've never gotten past the burger part of the menu, and this time it was very sloppy, with the sauce type ingredients overpowering the burger, and making it extra hard to eat (bottom of bun completely disintegrated).
always a pleasure dining at Serious Food and Cafe...the service is great,
the food is great and the people are great....
We love Serious Food and Drink. Creative menu, some classic comfort food type options as well. Interesting drinks. Seems that the bartenders like to get creative, too! The new additions to the new menu are great. Thanks! Loved the linguini with squid ink and also the seafood enchiladas. Keep up the good work.
Great food, service and live the protected open air setting. The ginger beard pancakes were awesome!
This is a nice casual spot in Palm Springs.
The food was good (burgers, chicken dish, and short rib pot pie) and the service was friendly and attentive. It was a bit cool to sit outside...maybe next time.
Heard they have a nice brunch on the weekends.
I will go back! An interesting mix of ingredients that make for a delicious dinner, coupled with great service and ambience
Although Serious Food came highly recommended by friends who know the owners our experience was less than. The ambience is lovely and the service excellent, but the food was not as described or even close. The Ciopinno was all mussels, clams (one unopened) & 2 shrimp no scallops or other fish as described. The broth was very tasty, but a mussel & clam dish nonetheless and not Ciopinno. The burger with blue cheese had tasteless white cheese and the 4 vegetable medley had just 2 of the 4 described. The lovely waitress is given a tough job by a chef who misinforms the staff about the menu. We brought it to their attention and the host made a poor attempt at apologizing. At least he finally acknowledged the cheese was not blue. I'm generally quite forgiving as I dine out frequently, but when both entrees and side dish are way off, I have to speak up. Hopefully they'll improve and I may go back with friends in tow...
We tried all the appetizers and several of the entrees-all were very, very good. I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food.
We love this restaurant. Consistently good food and service. Just the right size restaurant so you don't feel like just a number there. Very friendly owners and service. Menu is one of the best in town. Really you won't be disappointed.
Pleasantly surprised by this relatively new - and much needed - addition to the PS dining scene.
Serious Food & Drink is SERIOUSLY a place not to miss! Great food, great service and great drinks! So cool to have this restaurant in the "new" Palm Springs..
This restaurant is The old hamburger Mary's location. Completely redone very upscale, good food good prices , nice wine list, easy parking. Try it I think you'll like it.
