I used to go here when it was Sungari Pearl so I didn't know what to expect. Great food, service & atmosphere.
Food was quite good, service was confused at best, but over all a really fun night!
We were looking for Chinese food and Mai Tai's and we found it at Seres Restaurant and Bar. Had best Mai Tai's we have had at a restaurant in a long time. Kung Pau Chicken and Fried Rice were delicious. Waiter was excellent and made us aware of quantities in each dish so that we did not over order.
Great food and great service
This was our first time eating at Seres and we loved the food, cocktails and wine. Our waitress was very friendly. Atmosphere was a little more casual than we expected, but it was still nice. We definitely plan to go back and try a lot more things on the menu.
This is the second time we ordered the Peking Duck. Each time the wait person was so proficient with making the wraps. Deliberate and skillful with the chopsticks and each wrap was balanced with duck, sauce, and scallions. Delightful. Always like the balance of ingredients to sauce, authentic to the Chinese tradition. Such a wonderful treat. Lastly, when walking by the kitchen, we are always greeted with a smile and a wave. It is these little touches that make one feel they are getting a home cooked meal..The reverence of any culture are the details in which the food is presented. Thank you.
Found this restaurant on OpenTable and was a perfect Chinese meal. Kids loved the food, the waiter was friendly and accommodating to their tastes and allergies. And they had a good wine selection. Great for all!
You pay for high quality ingredients at Seres. The restaurant is spacious and beautifully designed. I had a lovely experience.
Seres is always a favorite of ours. Portland has an unlimited choice of restaurants but we somehow come back to Seres for reliable, tasty and healthy food.
My favorite Chinese in Portland -- amazing fried rice and the dry sautéed green beans are the best anywhere. Always enjoy my dinner here.
A great quiet restaurant choice in the Pearl with a large selection of chinese food. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful.
Excellent food, must try anything lo mein. Mixed drinks are made to perfection. Friendly servers willing to make your night enjoyable.
Great would return
Seres Pearl location sparkles. The service is good. And that's the end of the positive things sbout Seres.
It definitely veers on the expensive side, and is overpriced. We ordered kung pao chicken and seseme chicken. Apparently, they require separate ordering for vegetables because none were included in the meal. That was strike one.
Strike two: The poultry in the seseme chicken had no flavor. I get that they bill themselves as "healthy." So it wasn't breaded as usual. Seres' solution is to cut up the chicken into tiny pieces and sprinkle in some sesame. That's inadequate to say the least.
Strike three: The kung poa chicken was a little better as to flavor but was not spicy. Its supposed to be spicy. And not enough peanuts.
This restaurant is clearly for people with money who want to done in the Pearl and know nothing about Chinese food.
Excellent food. Have dined here multiple times. Service can be slow during peak times, particularly holidays. Overall, the food is delicious, generally fast service, pleasant atmosphere. For those with serious gluten intolerance/allergy, they have so many options and I've never been contaminated here. Highly recommend the sesame chicken!
I've always really liked the food at Seres Restaurant but the service has been hit-or-miss. This time we went the waitress didn't pull my friend's soda even though he asked her to as it was flat and tasted terrible. Our waters weren't refilled in a timely manner and she even whacked one of my friends with her plate. She was slow to take our orders and even slower to cash us out at the end which was a problem because we were on our lunch breaks and had told her we needed to get going. There were only two other two-person tables in use there so I'm not sure why she had to spend so much time in the back with the chefs.
The moment was sort-of saved when they brought my friend a scoop of ice cream for her birthday but it didn't really make up for being neglected almost the whole meal. If you come here, it's usually better to call ahead with your order even if you're eating in.
Typical over oiled and over sauced, under flavored Chinese food. Which is fine if a typical setting. Go upscale then expect better treatment if food. Place was near empty but service was average. Few would complain with food at $10-12 but charging $14-20 makes expectations rise too. Nice looking place, good spot. There's potential here
This was our second trip to Seres. Both times, the food has been very good. Noise level will just depend on how full the restaurant is. Wonderful variety of dishes, and everything we have tried has been well prepared. We appreciate the elegant atmosphere of this restaurant. It's not gaudy. Only downside: I ordered coffee at the end of the meal; would definitely finish the meal with tea rather than coffee next time.
I loved Seres. The staff was very friendly. I had vege chow mein and shared pot stickers. The red chili sauce was excellent, not too hot. We all shared a big portion of the corn, crab and chicken (chowder?) soup. Excellent. The atmosphere is clean and modern. Parking was very easy as well. Lovejoy is not overally crowded.
Great food and drink. The Mandarin Cosmo is remarkably excellent as was the Hunan Pork with black bean sauce and the Moo Shu Chicken
Some of the best food in Portland. Mostly organic, gluten-free, GMO free, free range chicken & meat, and delicious. Very affordable & we never have to wait for a table, even on a Saturday night.
Very disappointing! I returned to Seres to repeat my previous experience and was surprised by the boring tasting food and over cooked vegetables. So sad!
Best Chinese food in Portland. The Sesame Beef is amazing! So is the General Tso's chicken. I haven't eaten Chinese food in a long time, mostly because a lot of Chinese restaurants don't have the highest quality ingredients. Seres was very impressive, I will be coming back for sure.
We found the restaurant on open table. The description sounded good. We researched it on Yelp. Pretty good reviews. We are from out of town and were able to find it easily and able to park by the door. There were only a few other diners which was a surprise since it had such good reviews. Maybe because we are from Houston and we have so many outstanding Chinese restaurants I found the food just average or perhaps we just ordered the wrong menu items. Anyway the food was good and nothing was really wrong.
The food is always tasty, and the veggies are very fresh. Very high quality Chinese food.
very n ice quiet restaurant with a large menu and good service. In the pearl district.
Pecking duck and preparation was the best I have every had with the lowest price. Service was also outstanding.
Non-traditional Chinese place. More like a modern fusion restaurant, but with Chinese cuisine presented in high style.
Fresh flavorful ingredients. MuShu Pork is a favorite. Stir fried green beans are delicious.
Always GREAT! The best Asian food in PDX. Waiter(s) helpful and gracious. Jim is a swell!
Food was not as tasty as the last time. Nuff said
The service was good but slow. Don't go here if you are in a hurry. Otherwise, the food is delicious as are the cocktails.
After eating here we are still looking for a good go-to Chinese restaurant. Food was forgettable and the drinks were nothing special.
Great location in the Pearl District. Very friendly waitstaff. Food was very tasty and authentic. Good everyday Chinese.
Fresh tasty Chinese food. Mu Shu pork is a favorite.
The squid was a bit bland but the eggplant was outstanding and the service as good as it gets.
Third time we have been food is amazing , sit in a booth very nice
Celebrated New Years Day for an early dinner.
loved the food.
Fresh and delicious Chinese food.
If anyone can tell me a better Chinese restaurant in PDX, I'd love to go there. Have tried all the dim sum and big place on the east side and Departure downtown. None have the variety, freshness, or taste of the food at Seres. Jim always takes great care of us and even makes a few recommendations. The Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp is fabulous. Have never been disappointed. You won't be either. Kudos, Seres! Again!
The food was excellent! Prefect place for Christmas dinner!!!!
