If out shopping at St. Clair Mall and looking for a place to grab a great meal, pay a visit to Serafini. Right in the heart of downtown Frankfort, this restaurant is the perfect spot for a date night, dinner with friends, or to even host an event in the private party space.
Chef Tim McGowan uses fresh locally grown ingredients to create the menu at Serafini. The dishes here combine traditional Italian cuisine with down home Southern Kentucky cooking. Appetizers include choices like bruschetta or pimento cheese wontons. Grilled Berkshire pork chop and Risotto del Giorno are just two of the entrees from which to choose. No meal in Kentucky is complete with some Bourbon and Serafini has an extensive list from which to choose.

Serafini Ratings and Reviews
Very good, chef inspired food. Surroundings are very nice, staff is great. Probably my girlfriends favorite place to eat, we go on special occasions. Not cheap, you will pay a lot more than going to some chain place like Appleby's, but then again you get a WHOLE heck of a lot more, plus you won't find food like it anywhere else around the Frankfort area. I highly recommend it.
Great food, wonderful server. He was very attentive and recommended things all night. My husband and I enjoyed almost everything. It was a little awkward how close to the front door and to the table to the right of us was. The couple at the table beside us seemed to know everyone so it was pretty loud most of the time. But besides that we enjoyed all the food and service.
I was disappointed with my dining experience. The food was mediocre. The table was right by the bar and the kitchen. There was a reception which made the noise level extremely loud. People at the bar hovered close to the table. It was the worst seat in the restaurant! The waiter was very pleasant.
We picked Serafini as a halfway point between Louisville and Lexington to meet friends for New Years Eve. Having never been there, we were more than pleasantly surprised. From start to finish, the meal was one of the best we have enjoyed in a long time. Will return, definitely!
Serafini is a good location in a part of downtown Frankfort, Kentucky that has experienced some rejuvenation over the past few years but is still a work in progress. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and appears to be a good place for group or professional dining. The food was good, but not as good as other restaurants of the same price range. As is my custom, I had the lasagna, which is a good test dish for a restaurant that claims "Italian" food. The lasagna was creamy with a nice ricotta sweetness, although the sauce was also sweet, the cheese under melted. I thought the dish could have used a touch more garlic, a bit more acidic tomato, and a stronger dose of oregano to balance the ricotta. Other members of my party had beef dishes, which were cooked a little over, but otherwise very good flavors and sauces. I would recommend Serafini's to anyone spending time in Frankfort after a bourbon distillery tour or a day at the Kentucky Horse Park.
I come here fairly regularly as it's the best date night spot in Frankfort. (Unfortunately in my search for Mr. Right I go on a lot of dates.) I love their ribeye, salmon, their deserts, the goat cheese & apple salad, and their selection of wine and bourbon is great. Carlos, the manager, ensures that all tables are adequately attended to, that staff know the daily specials, and that customers are happy with their experience.
Service started rough but recovered quickly. Bar manager took personal care for us, as we were interested in tasting several local bourbons. Good wine and spirits list. Food was tasty, portions were reasonable. Salted Caramel cheesecake was lovely finish. Nice location in historic downtown area. Quiet on weeknights.
Our last night on the Bourbon Trail we had reservations for the Ghost Tour at Buffalo Trace. We got stuck in traffic and arrived a little late for our reservation, cutting our dinner time short. The staff did everything they could to make our dinner enjoyable, relaxed and still got us on our way to make it to the tour.
The food was very good, we had a variety of Starters and Entrees between the 4 of us, including the Bruschetta, Tuscan Bean Soup, Carbonara, Bison Meatloaf. We will return to have a more relaxed dinner.
Great place to go if you have no time restraints. Unfortunately we were on a schedule. Service was very slow. Initial wait time for offer for drinks, greeting at table, etc was about 15 minutes. Food service was also slow. Wait staff was pleasant and food was very good.
The Filet was a good cut but it was delivered ranging from medium rare (center) to well on the edges. Medium-well was requested. If the chef had problem cooking this piece of meat he should have butterflied the steak. With steak, the quality of the cut and the consistency of cooking the meat requested by the customer is everything. Yes I realize filet's are difficult to cook but for a restaurant with the hoped for reputation of Serafini's it was less than ideal.
The potato and asparagus were cooked well and were delicious. My wife had Prime Rib. Two pieces were served and one was mostly gristle which after chewing had to tastefully retrieve from her mouth and returned to her plate. The other piece of Prime Rib was overcooked...well versus the requested medium. The salad was very good.
The waiter seemed a bit disinterested and less than attentive after we declined to order mixed drinks or wine. Server requests often had to be repeated and the response was at times OK and at times delayed. Immediate waiter promises often had a delayed response. Maybe the waiter had too many tables to serve.
The view of the old capital is always a nice setting. On a cold evening outside, the lack of a weather barrier or double door entrance meant that everyone on the same side of the restaurant as the door had cold rushes whenever the door opened. Overall, I have enjoyed dining at Serafini's in the past.
Unfortunately, the food preparation and service were less than desired from a restaurant with medium-high prices and a purported reputation as a fine place to eat. My reaction is mixed and a bit disappointing. I sincerely hope for much better the next time I patronize Serafini's
2 Beers 2 entrees 2 appetizers $120.00 with tip included... Food looked good and sounded good but very over cooked and expensive. I think my halibut had been prepared earlier as it was the anticipated valentine's day special and my fiances special had no flavor best part od the meal was the fried oysters and pimento cheese mashed potatoes everything else was not up to par. Very disappointed to drive from Lexington, we went home and bought pizza!!!
