Don't order something that is not Italian because the chefs do not know how to cook it properly. The servers are so busy, that when something goes wrong they do not take care of it in a timely manner. When they do finally take care of it, they make additional mistakes. We will not go back.
First birth day dinner with boo and many more to come ;)
Great meal and attentive service. Overall excellent choice for pre theater dining. All our food was excellent with fresh ingredients
We arrived early for a 5:45 reservation. The restaurant was about half full We were seated alone in a semi-private room About a half hour later 30-40 women were seated in tables around us as part of a pre-planned party that had booked the room. The noise was deafening. When I complained to the matre d' and manager they agreed that the noise level was deafening and just shrugged their shoulders. I left before desert with a headache.
Service is well below average - host and servers are polite, but the service itself is really lacking. The only reason I go back is for their pizza, they have a very large selection and they are delicious. If you enjoy European style pizza, where each person gets their own, this is a good place for you and it does not disappoint. I'm always hesitant to recommend this place to visitors simply because of the service.
The service was outstanding- the french toast was amazing
I love the four cheese pizza. I get it with the red sauce, and the taste is the best of any pizza I’ve ever had in New York City!
The food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. Our server's very first words to us were, "Are you ready to order?" We had to ask him his name and also ask about specials. Our drinks took longer than they should to arrive and the server reached across the table to pour our waters rather than walking around the table. It is details like that which make a difference. That said, our food was very good. Not sure if I would return.
Pre theater lunch. Perfect. Quick efficient friendly service. And delicious food. Best Pizza ever. Great cocktails. Shrimp. Risotto. Fantastic
We had an event at Carnegie Hall. The location was perfect. The service was excellent and we were out in time for the performance. Would definitely recommend
they were out of my favorite Artichoke salad - the first time that happened to me
I was disappointed. but the rest of the meal was good
the carpaccio was a little too much truffle in the sauce
I have been to several Serafina restaurants in NYC and have found them to have been much better several years ago. This is probably the 5th time I have been to one - this one was near my office so I went for convenience. My personal feeling is that the quality has steadily declined in the last 7 years or so - much less attention to detail. I had shrimp with Milanese risotto. The shrimp was overcooked as was the rice. The entire dish might have sat under heat lamps on the pass for several minutes - who knows. If you decide to go, stick with salads and their focaccia, which was not bad.
To be honest the wait staff was not attentive and they were not flexible with food preferences.
We made a reservation but didn't end up eating here. We were going to try this place for Sunday brunch. My mom ordered orange juice that wasn't fresh squeezed. We were going to stick around and still give them a shot, but when our water arrived both glasses were dirty. The waiter apologized which was nice, but we left and got brunch elsewhere.
We’ve eaten here many times over the years, but this time we weren’t overly happy. My husband’s steak was a bad cut - he said very tough with arteries. The salad is typically dressed to perfection but not this time. I’m not sure what happened. We plan to return as we have always had had great food and great service.
I ordered the salmon and it was grilled perfectly - so moist. Food came out quickly. Portions are quite large except for desserts - they are in the small side. All the plates we saw looked amazing. Staff isn’t overly friendly, but they are very on top of the orders and getting people in and out, so they don’t spend time making small talk. I felt like every penny spent was well worth it, and I’d definitely return. I booked a 5:30 Saturday dinner reservation the night prior. Great location - near Central Park, theaters and Time Square. Can dress up or down and feel comfortable. Families were there with children and seemed comfortable. Definitely recommend!
Lovely Italian food with prompt service. Best Carpaccio ever!
Loved the make your own pizza for the table. Absolutely delicious. Our waiter & servers were very friendly, patient with our questions and quick. Will definitely return!
Food was exceptionally good. I had grilled tuna with great sides. My husband had veal Milanese. Service was relatively attentive. Noise level was moderate.
Visiting NYC with my family and we found this lovely restaurant near to our hotel. Really enjoyed it - the food was fabulous, service was excellent. We also visited the other Serefina restaurant in Time Square too before a trip to the theatre. Lovely Italian food and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely go back again when we are in NYC. Just to say the Tirimisu was wondeful.
Love this restaurant always consistently delicious food and great service. Pizzas and pastas are fantastic!
Loved it like usual
Great Breakfast. Great Service.
The music was really loud and intrusive. Room just okay. We went for a pre-theater dinner. The food came quickly. I would give this a three out of five stars. Nothing special.
Good ambience away from crowds of time square, conveniently located from theatres around 50th st, quiet and nice menu
The food was terrific but unfortunately the management was very poor. After a waiter dropped a knife on my companion's coat which left a grease stain the management became VERY unpleasant as we tried to get information from them about having the coat cleaned. They were accusatory and extremely defensive. What a shame because the dinner was excellent. I will not return to Sapphire until they have some attitude adjustments as to how to treat patrons.
Great services; very good food; reasonable and convenient
Food was excellent, service was inattentive.
We went for my daughter’s birthday and would have been better off at the diner across the street. The brunch menu is very limited and the service was terrible!
The food was really good, but our server was curt & unfriendly. We were celebrating our son’s 13th Birthday and the occasion wasn’t acknowledged, nor was any consideration given to whether he liked his food. My husband spilled some red wine & no one bothered to assist with cleanup. We’re from Chicago and definitely used to more attentive and friendly service, especially when spending $250 for dinner.
The food hit the spot after a long day of work and it was still snowing outside in March. The portions were flavorful and generous. The drink menu was much appreciated.
Visited the restaurant during a snow storm. The host was less than friendly and was too preoccupied watching tv to do his job. The previous diner at our table left a Prada wallet in the booth. When I found it, I promptly gave it to the host who took it from my hand without saying a word.
We started with a prosciutto appetizer which was just ok. Thin slices of prosciutto with globs of mozzarella around the plate. The pizza was delicious. We did a combo of half sausage and half pepperoni and it was great. Our waitress Lucy also did a great job. We chose the crepes and gelato for dessert. Both were delicious. I would definitely go back if Mr Grumpy had the night off.
First time to New York first place we ate. Wonderful experience
Excellent place for Dinner. We went with my wife and my best friends. We have nice time, good service and excellent food
Went there for dinner between parts I and II of Angels In America. Was an overall good experience. The delivery person dropped his helmet on our table spilling our water everywhere at one point, but they quickly moved us with no issue and comped our drinks. I would recommend, especially the truffle pasta.
Excellent for business breakfast
I have been to other branches of Serafina in NYC. I found this to be the least impressive. Nothing was bad, but nothing was very good either. I had Rigatoni with meat sauce and the Tiramisu.
We have eaten at Serafina a few times before and enjoyed it. Last night we were met by a maître d’ with an attitude. Not friendly, very businesslike. The food was OK, however the service was very good. Dining room felt like needed to be freshened up. We probably won’t go back so I hesitate recommending it.
Food and service were wonderful. Had the arugula salad with Parmesan and sliced filet. Filet cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Lemon vinegarette dressing 5 stars. Only complaint was noise level, it was 1:00, and proximity of tables.
Easy going atmosphere they did not rush us Wait staff were attentive. Would like to see the brunch menu have more choices than just eggs
