Serafina Ratings and Reviews
Seated 20 minutes after our reservation time at a table that was not big enough for our party. Waited another 15 minutes for the waitstaff to acknowledge us. Had to eat very quickly and didn’t have time to order appetizer or dessert because of the delay. Only gave 3 stars because food is great, I would give management a zero.
My friend and I ate hear prior to seeing a show on Broadway. We were packed into our seats and the lady next to me was practically on top of me - which I suppose is to be expected at a restaurant in Midtown, so close to Broadway. Other than that, the cocktails were delicious and the food was your standard, Italian comfort food. If you're looking for a spot close to Broadway before attending a show, I would recommend Serafina!
Arrived to a mostly empty restaurant and were promptly seated next to the kitchen instead of a better table. We were not offered a coat check on a cold snowy evening. It seemed like they were out of stock of half of the wines on their list, we had to pick 4 different times before we finally ordered something they had, but which was not what we really wanted. The pasta dishes were good, but their one vegetarian selection for a main dish was both bland and boring.
Had dinner there with our daughter before seeing a show on Saturday to celebrate 3 Kings Day. Because of the snowstorm last Thursday, we changed our plans to eat closer to the show and to drive in as we had an over two hour drive. When I called and spoke to manager with heavy Italian accent, he told me our parking would be validated at Champion Parking Garage and he also told me it was located directly across the street. It was located directly across except that when we went to retrieve our car, the garage manager said they do not validate for Serafina Restaurant. Husband goes back to Serafina and manager denies ever telling us that over the phone when we originally made our dinner reservation. Then states they validate for Imperial parking garage and that we had the wrong garage. I don't think Champion and Imperial sound anything alike. Manager then proceeds to give husband another slip of paper and tells him to "try that." And of course, "try that" was worthless. What a scam to get us in there and then to proceed to lie. OUTRAGEOUS AND SHAMEFUL! Never again.
Maybe it was the location we chose, 55th and broadway, but this is one New York City restaurant I will never go back to. Between the microwave tasting chicken and the pizza that tasted like it was straight out of a frozen food box nothing about this Serafina location was worthy... maybe the pasta but then again I’d be reluctant.
We were able to get a reservation on short notice. Were hopeful it would be a good meal. Service was terrible, waiter wasn’t attentive. Food was disappointing. Pasta was a little too undercooked and the bolognese was just fair at best. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place.
Holding true to the reviews, had to actually ask for bread and multiple refills of regular tap water - these were not automatic. The food, however, was pretty good for the price and the setting lively but not overly obnoxious. Solid place for a good meal, somewhat happening atmosphere, but nothing to write home about.
The food was delicious! We made a reservation before seeing a show on Broadway. It was the perfect amount of time before we got to the theatre. The only issue is that we were tucked away by the kitchen, so we didn’t get to see much of the restaurant or experience the atmosphere. We felt somewhat forgotten about by the wait staff. Good food but probably wouldn’t go back again.
The service here is disappointing. After our waiter Gianni took our order, he did not come back. He never offered to bring us bread, he never looked over to see if we needed our waters refilled (which we did), he never checked in to see how our food was, and then once we found another server to ask for our check, Gianni brought it over and placed it on our table without saying a word. Very disappointed and will not be returning. On top of the poor service, food is mediocre at best.
I hadn't been to Serafina in many years, and now I'm not sure why. We had party of 7 and they seated us at a large round table with a booth immediately, even though one person was missing at first, which was perfect. Wait staff was attentive, a wide selection of menu items had something for everyone, good cocktails and everything arrived quickly and they got us out to the theater on time. I'll definitely be back.
A gathering of 8 friends for my wife's b'day. We had a great table, as requested, in an out-of-the-way corner. The service was WAY above and beyond, as we got our wires cross and several of us were close to 20-25 minutes late. No one from the restaurant said a word, and this was 2 1/2 weeks before Christmas, so holidays parties were going on, business dinners, office parties, etc. And, as always, the food was memorable. Thank you Serafina!!!!
