Serafina Upper West is a friendly destination for local families, professionals, visitors and everyone craving a fabulous Italian meal.
Recommended for an average Italian meal...serviceable, good location but nothing ground breaking about the offerings. To be fair, we didn't have the pizza, which seems to be the signature dish.
Arrived at our reservation time (7:30 PM) and didn't get seated until 8 PM. We had to leave to attend a 9:30 PM show so we did;t get to even finish our dinner. Not pleasant
Outstanding food- pasta was amazing; salad was great. Profiteroles for dessert were perfect! We needed to be in and out in time to make a show at the Beacon and the staff accommodated us with no problem. Will definitely be back!
Close to Beacon theater. GREAT spaghetti squash. Love their veggie pizza. Good service
Excellent staff. Very attentive.
Will recommend and will go back again.
A little loud.
Food and service were great. Tables are close together and its noisy. Not a place for a quiet dinner.
All was ok but nothing special.
Food was excellent and served quickly as we had tickets to a show afterwards. Service was great also. Would definitely return.
Food was horrible. The chicken Milanese tasted like a flattened chicken nugget. What a mistake to go here. Maybe we should have stick to a pizza.
Everything was wonderful
I wouldn't recommend it anymore. At this point, Serafina Upper West is a plain vanilla breakfast place. Somewhat limited menu, bland in taste, ok price but nothing to go out of the way for. The head waiter was good but the other staff unfriendly, bordering on rude.
The lemon ricotta pancakes tasted really nice by themselves but they were to dry and the corn syrup served on the side killed them. If instead, they had served maple syrup (even if that cost a buck more), it would have been really nice.
The side of fried potatoes was extremely bland. The coffee reminiscent of the 1970s.
I had the same kind of brunch here four years ago and back then it was a lot better.
As an out-of-towner, I’d describe Serafina as a solid, cut-above neighborhood restaurant. Good calamari fritti and pizza. There’s a whole lot more on the menu I feel would be worth the try.
I like this place a lot! The problem is there are to many children running around. I understand that it is a neighborhood place but its probably better for take out. Don't go expecting a quiet romantic evening unless you go after 9. Great Service and food.
I had a good experience
This experience was outstanding and Sarfina deserves a shout out. The food was very good and the service was on point. The only thing was bad when we asked for a spoon they forgot, otherwise this restaurant is definitely one to go to.
Service was very slow. Wasn’t acknowledged after sitting for at least 10 minutes. Food took forever to come out. Not going back to this or any location around the city.
I’d rate Serafina between 3.5-4 stars. It’s close to Beacon Theater - we went before a show. The food was good (the pizza we got for an appetizer was excellent as was the tiramisu dessert), the service was good. Bartender, waiter and host were very friendly. Overall a decent place to go for a meal if in the neighborhood. They have a pre-theater prix fixe menu which is nice.
The restaurant was playing very loud techno music for the entire meal. The food was average to good and the staff was very attentive. The music is what soured the entire experience. Had they played soft classic italian music or classical music the experience would have been 1000% better.
They struggled for a bit to seat us even though we had a reservation.
Bread is delicious
It was fine--very pleasant for brunch--tasty--good service, spacious.
Tap water served had a funny taste, people at next table agreed, glasses replace, new water poured, better. Chicken Parmigiana was pounded ultra thin and filled a standard dinner plate as one piece of a pizza shaped dry chicken. Accompanying spaghetti had sauce that tasted burnt. Soda's were $5 per 8oz bottle
Very crowded on a Saturday between 6 & 8. Definitely need a reservation. Two adults and 9 kids arrived early and clogged up the hostess area me only in New York, kids. Ended up at bar which was overworked but professional. Apologized for slow kitchen and comped ne to a glass of wine and coffee with an after-dinner drink for my patience. It pays to be nice... And leave a big tip.
Enjoyable meal before a show at the Beacon.
Large space. Some booths. Basic italian. Food was very average and not the value I expected. Convenient location to public transportation. Good place for a casual lunch meeting.
Delicious food! I had the penne pasta with vodka sauce and I asked for grilled chicken to be added. I also ordered the herbed focaccia bread and it was delicious! The waitstaff was friendly and the ambiance was super cozy.
Food- The appetizer, calamari, was terrible. Overly breaded, no taste of calamari. They looked like onion rings. But then, at least, one can taste the onions.
The "olive" oil that was served with the ok bread was either terrible olive oil or not olive oil at all. It was inedible. Took us forever to get some butter. The entrees included tagliolini pollo which was badly cooked and not spiced. The pasta was undercooked and should have been sent back to the inept kitchen. The cream sauce was tasteless.
The rigatoni Bologna was ok. At least the pasta was cooked. The sauce lacked sufficient beef and was amateurish.
Service- No cheese or pepper was served with the entrees and it took a while to get a server to bring it to us. By the way, the place was not crowded.
The drinks were terrible. Two drinks were ordered, one with a splash of soda and the other with a splash of cranberry. Either the waitress failed to deliver our request or the bartender thinks a splash is half a glass.
The comedic moment of the dinner occurred when we asked the server to put half the tab on a credit card. She wanted to know about the other half. We said we would pay it in cash. She demanded to know, "Where is the cash?"
I can only imagine that this Serafina is open because they have restaurants at other locations that are better. We will not be return customers here.
My family went before a show at The Beacon (5 minute walk) and we really enjoyed our meal. Service was great, food was above average and our picky kids loved it. Price was reasonable. If you going to a show at the Beacon this is a great place to start your night.
We had the pre-theatre dinner special which included soup or appetizer, entree, and dessert all for only $39.00 pp. The food was fresh, delicious, beautifully served and portions were plentiful. The wait-staff were polite, friendly, and attentive, while not being pushy. We liked it so much we came back for breakfast the next morning.
I had a reservation for 2. When I checked in I was told they had no tables in the main dinning room and that none would become available. I was offered a table at the bar or in the back room which doubled as a coat check room. I was told those were my only choices. We took the table in the back to avoid the bar scene and being by the door on a cold night. No accommodation was made. The meal and service were good ,but if you have a reservation for the dinning room it should be honored. They should have at least had the manager apologize. It was poorly handled. I was sitting with the overflow crowd who didn't have reservations though the check in person said reservations only. I asked the others in the backroom and they didn't have reservations. Not good!
First time...food was delicious.
When you are in the mood for Italian, Serafina offers a decent value for the UWS. Love the Gluten-free options. Service can be a bit slow.
New year eve
Serafin didn’t tell us up-front about the special New years menu and that we had no choice of other dishes until we sat down at the table, so we left as we were not that hungry as to want to spend 75$ each. I believe its possible to explain special orders through this app. But even in the restaurant when you arrive they should have explained as they seated us.
New Year’s Eve
Very kid friendly
VERY BAD SERVICE. SLOW!
ONCE WE WERE SEATED, AND ORDERED, WE NEVER SAW THE WAITER AGAIN.
HAD TO ASK FOR EVERYTHING WE NEEDED INCLUDING THE CHECK>
VERY DISINTERESTED IN SERVING US OR EVEN GETTING US A SECOND DRINK WHILE WE WAITED FOR THE VERY SLOW FOOD SERVICE. AND THE PLACE WAS NOT THAT CROWDED. TOO BAD BECAUSE IT IS A LOVELY LOOKING COMFORTABLE PLACE, AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD.
Great location close to Beacon Theatre which made it very convenient as we were attending an event at there. Food and service were good, large portions so arrive hungry. Bruschetta was amazing and tomato’s we’re ripe and delicious.
X this place, and there's always a table available
