Serafina Fabulous Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, but the service with the exception of the host was absolutely awful. We were not acknowledged when making requests to the server he would just walk away without saying anything. The bread was hard as a rock, like a hockey puck. Our dishes we ordered were very tasty and flavorful - just wasn't the best overall experience.
We were in Manhattan for a getaway weekend. Though we have our favorite restaurants, I wanted to try a new one. After researching Open Table ratings and reviews, I settled on Serafina, and we were not disappointed! It was the perfect cozy spot for a rainy Sunday night in the Big Apple. The tomato basil focaccia was amazing, unlike any we’ve ever eaten. The chopped salad was delicious as well. I had the limoncello farfalle bow tie pasta with shrimp, and my husband the pounded breaded veal Milanese. My only complaint was that the portions were so adequate that we couldn’t finish our entrees! And then we were traveling, so taking it home was not an option. We will definitely revisit Serafina next time we’re in town. If you’re reading this, and have never been, you should too!
How bizarre that Open Table names this restaurant Serafina Fabulous Grill. The actual restaurant names it Serafina Always. But what's in a name? The food was not fabulous nor were our dishes grilled. As to 'always': nah, this particular Serafina is a 'pass'.
Food was fine, but the service was lacking. Our server seemed to be distracted and rushed, but somehow it took quite awhile to get anything brought to the table (such as bread). I hesitated a moment before ordering a cocktail and sensed his annoyance with me. Also troubling was the fact that I left my credit card behind by mistake and the restaurant made no effort to contact me, even though the reservation was under my name and they had my email via Open Table. It is one of the more affordable options around 59E59, so I would possibly return, but I would explore other options first.
We have been dining at Serafina for many years since we live close by in the neighborhood. We had not been there in a few months due to our vacation schedule & returning was not the best experience.
The restaurant was almost empty at dinner hour & yet the service was awful. They knew us as regular diners, but one waiter was covering the whole main floor and he was still disappearing. If not for the service staff we would we would have had nothing. There was loud music playing that wasn't needed in an almost empty restaurant. We would not rush back. I think the best choice is a food delivery from them so as not to experience the restaurant. The pasta is always good.
We were with friends that has a baby, and they accommodate us very well even though we have a baby stroller. However, the service was bad, the waiter was a little rude. He brought the bread, and we asked for olive oil. After our appetizer arrived, he removed the olive oil from the table without asking anyone. I asked him to bring it back, and he didn't apologize and didn't make a nice face! About the food, I ordered a plate with 3 different types of pasta, it was on average, too far to be delicious. I'll not come back for sure!
I ordered the pizza I always order there. It came crispy, dry and burnt. I asked for the manager who took it back and came back saying he tasted it and there was nothing wrong with it. He said that I could have it back or choose something else but he wouldn't have another done. Ridiculous and rude! I wasn't going to have the pizza he tastes back and my mind was set on this. Service is always so-so in that place but this was particularly bad. We'll take a break from this location for a wile.
Place and food was great. However our party was obvious business and they sat us right near all these kids with families. So we kept getting bothered by crying babies and a kid's birthday party. Other then that it's nice and the waitress was great. They need to think about placement during lunch when business people come. Other then this I highly recommend!
This was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had. We had a 7 month old, so they stuck our party out of view in the upstairs section. The food was terrible (Pizza was not hot and my chicken came out raw!) They also never cleared out plates, did not ask if we wanted desert and when I went to speak with the manager he blamed something that happened with a cook in the kitchen. Not taking the blame in a customer service experience as a manager is not acceptable -- especially since the staff and food were below par. The manager said to the table he would be taking care of the check. To my surprise, he had a server bring the check with only 20% off of the bill. I frequent this location and others all the time. I will never go back.
The Serafina salad is perfect. The chicken paillaird is pounded down to the thickness of a tortilla which just makes for dry chicken. I've had it somewhere else like that so should've remembered so not their fault but it's still odd. We remembered suddenly that we were supposed to be someplace so we kind of gulped, packed and dashed but they were very gracious and responsive. We would return.
