Serafina East Hampton Ratings and Reviews
apparently, the kitchen pre-cooks some of its pasta, but clearly not long enough. Our rigatoni was not even close to al dente. The bolognese that came with it however, was delicious. Order it with quick cooking spaghetti and it probably will be excellent.
Service was attentive; so much so that we felt rushed to order - food came out very quickly. We figured they were trying to turn tables for next patrons. But the restaurant completely emptied out as we ate - why the rush?
The food was great, which it always is at Serafina. However, the service we had was terrible. After being seated, nobody came to our table for at least 10 minutes, by the time they got there we had to ask for water, and we ordered food and drinks all at once for fear that if we waited the waitress would never make it back to take the rest of the order. We had to ask for water refills several time from random waiters/waitresses that weren't ours because ours never came back. After we finished eating, we sat for 15 minutes with food untouched waiting for the waitress to clear our plates/offer desserts, the check, etc. We took the check, which since we had 7 people included a 20% gratuity that we wouldn't have otherwise given that high of a tip based on the service we received, and we had literally paid the check and were getting up to leave before the waitress finished clearing the table of the dirty plates.
Have been here several times, this time less favorable. Food ok to good, not exceptional. Service mediocre. Music loud and not
appropriate dinner music, in the
past played better trendy Pandora
music. So this restaurant ok but
many other better choices.
What's the hype. This is just an average Italian restaurant that gets all the play. Great music, above average food , but the service was terrible. When asked if we wanted drinks the server said their were no limes. Our bus boy must have gone to the IGA next door because he found them. When we didn't order dinner on the fly our waitress was annoyed only to return in 2 minutes to ask us again what we wanted. Just curious, is it not customary to ask your patrons if they would like grated cheese in their pasta. Again the bus boy came to the rescue. And when my cappuccino came out cold the waitress put her hands around my cup and challenged my comment. There was a crash of dropped dishes behind us at one point and I can only I think it was our server who tripped on a a lime (lol). Much better places in East Hampton!
Essential menu of good authentic Italian pizza and pasta. Artichoke salad was great and the pizza was thin crust as my daughter likes it. Filled with kids. The apple pie was like my mother ( 100% Italian) made it ( little butter and sugar). Loved it. The waiters were kind and quick. Bravo!
Great waiter was excellent kept filling Wine and water checked with out table Many times to be sure if we needed anything! Only one issue was between many Apps and ,main course less than five min between very unhappy with that almost felt rushed , although our waiter did apologize and assured us no rush .
We were dining with three young children and the appetizers took 40 minutes to arrive. When I complained to the manager, he said it was because they needed to prepare a lot of delivery and pickup orders first. He didn't seem to care that hungry children, not just at my table, were waiting extraordinarily long for their food. Very poor attitude by the manager.
The food great, the service too rushed. The Hamptons has a season so we appreciate the need to turn over covers efficiently but we arrived early (40mins) and were sat immediately (good) and had hoped to have a lazy pasta and good conversation. We ordered our food and the main was brought over whilst out stater plates were still on the table. The plates arrived in Ayrton Senna fashion , the waiter a blur. Further, many American speak too loudly, the wisest of words are oft whispered!
We waited 40 minutes for our table. Once at the table it was over 30 minutes before we were offered
Bread which came at the same time as ALL of our food. Usually they can handle the summer crowd but NOT this evening. Would not go back til high season is over.
We ate her twice on our visit to the Hamptons. First night was great. Food and service was great so we decided to return a few nights later. Our second visit was just OK. The service wasn't as good and the sat us on the patio which had very little ambiance. Felt like we were not part of the restaurant. Overall would recommend because the food is Good.
We had a reservation and the hostess immediately tried to seat us by the worst table straight in front of the kitchen despite the restaurant being mostly empty. She also did this to the next party that arrived. They rejected the table as well. I'd advise the opposite strategy, as it leaves a bad taste. The waiter didn't arrive at our table for 15 min. He also didn't offer us any bread. I had a pasta dish with prosciutto, mushrooms and peas. Then prosciutto was really tough to chew (Like grisly, I had to pull it out of my mouth) and the peas were dried out, very overlooked. I was disappointed. Ambience is nice enough and the outdoor tables look ok. We won't be back.
The meal was mediocre! We ordered a pizza to share as appetizer. The sauce on the pizza was awful. We also ordered other appetizers that were adequate but our server came over before we were done to say that our entrees were done and she didn't want them to get cold. So we felt rushed, which is irritating when we were trying to enjoy time with friends. By the way we ordered fairly quickly so this also felt incredible rude.
I ordered the bronzino (one of my favorite fishes) which had no flavor at all. I would guess from the taste that it was frozen a long time ago. My husband had a pasta dish that he found very disappointing. When my plate was picked up with only two bites of fish eaten no one inquired as to the reason. By the way we ate on the early side so it is not that the kitchen was inundated. The only reason I did not complain was that we were treating our friends.
The music was the worst of the 70's and so loud that the tables around us complained until it was lowered.
I was embarrassed that I took my friends here and will never return!
Went here July 4th weekend w my husband and young son. It was perfect. We are outside and they provided blankets in case we got cold. Pizza was great. My son never ate so much in his life- he just loved it. Staff was great w everyone. Would go back and recommend.
