Serafina by The Water Ratings and Reviews
We had an excellent and attentive waiter, Nicolas. We had a good wine for only $40. We shared the outstanding antipasto. The bread is excellent. I had the meatball appetizer for lunch, fabulous. My husband had the seafood pescatore off the dinner menu, also excellent. The only shortcoming, a very small serving of tiramisu for dessert was a whopping $10. It was very good, but $6 would have been a fair price for such a small serving, about the size of a brownie. They should lower the price and augment the size of dessert. Other than the dessert, everything was five s star.
Service was excellent. Both the polpette appetizer and the main course veal parmigiana (unique and more interesting with bone in) were excellent. Sadly, the pasta was not al dente, which spoiled it. Not a water view, as advertised, due to near total blockage by rear ends of a half dozen enormous yachts 10 feet from outdoor tables. Recommended -- with above critical reservations.
Serafina’s is a great go to place that does all things very well. The server, the atmosphere and the warmth made me it nkjj The food is delicious, homemade Italian, great octopus and calamari starter, branzino was perfect and the taramisu was awesome. Our guests also loved every minute. We all will be back!
This is a romantic spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Although described to us by our hotel concierge as “waterfront ,” several yachts were docked at the restaurant deck which blocked our view of the water. The noise level was high, primarily because the table next to us had a foursome who were raucous. The noise level retreated to normal once they left, but we would have preferred the wait staff to have said something for the benefit of those seated nearby. The wine selection was decent, however, of the three featured wine specials that evening, our choice was sold out. We ended up ordering a red which was served to us in white wine glasses. We asked for larger glasses and were told the restaurant had none. We ordered the antipasto as an apppetizer, which was very good. I ordered the beef carpaccio as my main meal and it came with an arugula salad in oil and lemon. It was very tasty, but the carpaccio was mixed into the salad where I prefer my carpaccio separate on the plate. My date had the linguine in white clam sauce. She was happy with the meal, but not effusively so. All in all, I would recommend the restaurant, but it did not live up to the expectations set by the concierge at my hotel.
We love Serafina. It reminds of a quaint European restaurant with wonderful salads, pastas and mains. There is one thing we aren't happy about. One of their signature services was to give patrons a tiny bruschetta upon first sitting down. This was a lovely gesture and one everyone we know who is a patron of Serafina looks forward to. We were so disappointed when we learned this is no longer offered. Can you please bring it back? Was it that expensive that you needed to eliminate it? In a world of cost-cutting don't scrimp on something that sets you way apart!
Our table of four enjoyed a pleasant evening on the patio waterside. Unfortunately the view of the water was blocked by yachts but it didn’t bother us so much as the breeze was perfect. We started with the grilled octopus appetizer which was very good. Our husbands enjoyed the veal parm but our yellow tail snapper was absolutely delicious. The noise level was fine. It was nice to dine and actually be able to hear one another for a change. We’ll be back soon!
Food quality was fair. Bruschetta (bread) was harder than expected.
Most of the pasta was over cooked and sauce had no taste/flavor
Ambiance was not all it was made up to be. On river however view blocked by large size vessels so all you saw was back end of boats.
Server (Mary Jane) was great. Water fill ups were sparse and had to ask
We really enjoyed the food but our waitress wasn't very nice to us, we just thought she was maybe a just a grouchy person but when the table next to us was seated she introduced herself which she never did with us she was friendly and smiling and even laughing with them. It was a turn off :(
First time dining, and was everything we were expecting. From sitting by the water, to our friendly waiter, Joe, to our tremendously delicious appetizers, it was a great start to our dinner. When dinner came, it was outstanding and the portions were a great size. We will definitely go back and 100% recommend it to anyone visiting Fort Lauderdale. Truly a hidden gem.
