Serafina Boston Ratings and Reviews
I work in the Financial District /Downtown Crossing neighborhoods and needed a place to accommodate a luncheon interview. On a few hours notice , I scheduled a reservation, but needed special accommodations (quieter area and extra seat). Through OpenTable I requested the accommodations and was delighted with the restaurant's ability to meet my needs, especially on short notice. Derek, the manager on duty, called me to let me know he would be able to assist and was extremely professional.
Regarding the dining experience, I found Serafina's menu to be full of variety, including healthier options. The food was prepared correctly, arrived in a timely manner, and was delicious. The restaurant offered a vibrant scene and was a great place to conduct a business meeting.
Serafina's team from the wait staff to the chefs deserve a 'thank you' for a 5-star experience. I enjoyed my experience so much that I chose to return the very next day for another business meeting.
The service was curt and brisk. Not a fan of a restaurant that removes plates before everyone is finished. Bill was delivered immediately without being called for and without allowing time to relax after eating. Restaurant was not busy so no reason to rush people out.
Went on a friends recommendation of best restaurants in Boston. Food was good but not great. Not a bad meal but I had many better meals in theBack Bay Area where we stayed. Save the cab ride; just stick with the Back Bay restaurants if you are already there and walk back to your hotel.
Having previously visited Serafina for lunch, decided to give it a try for dinner. We found on-street parking nearby. When we arrived at our scheduled time the hostess promptly began to seat us at an undesirable seating location at the front, despite many vacant tables. Being that it was nearly 9:00 and OpenTable had many openings still availability, we should not have had to plea for better seating. Soon after we sat down, water and bread arrived at our table. It took a while before we saw our waiter, but when he did arrive to take our orders he knocked a full glass of water over onto my wife. Fortunately it was water, and she was able to dry herself off. Ironically, we did have to move one table over, which moved us closer to the front.
My wife had a glass of wine and I ordered a martini. Oddly, both arrived in non-stemmed glasses.
It was not our waiter's best night. Service was very slow. My wife's salad arrived and after several minutes I managed to grab our waiter and ask about my Caesar salad. He said it was still being made (I found out this was not the reason when my bill arrived and my salad was added at the very end). The Caesar salad was plain and not memorable.
I had the TAGLIOLINI AL TARTUFO NERO and my wife had the CIOPPINO. Both were good. We did have to ask for pepper and grated cheese as they were not offered.
Due to the slow service we decided not to have dessert and asked for the check. Our waiter surprised us by bringing out a complimentary tiramisu for us to enjoy.
I'm not sure if it was a business as usual night or an off night for the staff. Regardless, there was nothing that gave me a reason to return again for dinner.
I came in with 2 friends on Saturday 10/14 to celebrate my birthday. We had a 7pm reservation . Dinner was Amazing. The waiter was very kind and attentive and the food was delicious . Beautiful restaurant and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.
The food is fantastic and the Sea Bass is a MUST have! I order it every chance I get, but the pasta and other dishes are also quite tasty. The lighting is good, but later in the evening, a more mature set may require the use of their flashlight on their phone. The bar scene is happening and the function rooms were all packed when we were there, but never even noticed the additional guests. The General Manager is delightful and stops by to see how your experience has been and the wait staff is quite good. The only issue is the possible pace and spacing of bringing out the food. It felt a bit slow even for one that just wanted to enjoy the meal and had time to spare this particular evening.
We decided to try this place for the first time after a friend recommend the restaurant to us. I have to say that we were really disappointed primarily due to the poor service as well as the poorly made steak I received.
For starters, we had a reservation and we were seated right away, however, with a full restaurant, we got seated in the left hand side of the restaurant where it was totally dead and away from everyone and everything.
We ordered a caprese salad which to my surprise was three slices of tomato and three slices of fresh mazorella cheese. I wouldn't recommend it. Our waiter who by the way was a Hispanic gentleman who never even introduced himself took our app while there was still food in it.
We then ordered a grilled salmon which was good as well as a Steak frites which was HORRIBLE!!! It was a supposed to be a medium cooked steak, instead I got a pretty burnt, dry and inedible piece of meat for $26-$28. There was absolutely no flavor.
During the entire time, not a single person came to our table to check on us or our food. I would have gladly sent it back. Then all of a sudden, we now have a new female waitress who is serving us. She was nice but it was too late at this point.
Now to top it all off, they were prepping a table for a larger party of girls that were coming in soon. I don't know why but the hostess (tiny girl) who was arranging the chairs was constantly throwing and pushing chairs all over the place for over 20 minutes and this just made our experience even worse by having to constantly hear chairs getting screeched all over the place.
Overall a POOR EXPERIENCE! I sure hope management looks into this.
I love Serafina and even had my wedding dinner there, which is awesome. Liz is a rockstar and you can get a bank vault, where else does that happen!?!?! That said it's not really geared for the lunch crowd (same menu as dinner, no lunch options) and now I know.
2nd time at Serafina. This time for an anniversary dinner. Restaurant manager, Derek and their chef, Chris, made it a point to greet us and wish us Happy Anniversary with complementary champagne and desert. Our waiter, Cesar, was attentive and provided excellent service. The Chicken Melenaze was outstanding! I would recommend this restaurant.
Went on a Thursday night around 6pm. The bar was busy but a lot of tables were open. Our server was very attentive. We had the calamari for an appetizer (the portion was very large) and I got the spaghetti squash meal. It was delicious and came with lots of veggies. My friend got the pasta with meat sauce and she said it was yummy. I liked the ambiance and although it was loud at the bar we were able to talk and enjoyed the lively atmosphere. I would return.
