Wow... the Sea Bass was amazing. It was only about 1/2 full for dinner so noise levels down and service excellent!

Six of us decided to dine at Sequoia at the last minute. There was an event taking place in the main dining area, which we were not aware of so we had dinner in the ballroom. It was loud, busy and zero ambiance. The food was good as was the service but just wish we would have known about the event prior to dining there. I would go back another time to see if the main dining room was a calmer place in which to dine.

I had made a reservation at Sequoia to celebrate my last dating anniversary with my fiance before our wedding in June. It has a nice atmosphere for a special occasion dinner. Our server was very pleasant and helpful in selecting a wine to go with our dinner. The food tasted amazing; however, you do not get a substantial portion of food compared to the price.

The service and meal were excellent even though there was a large function in the main dinning room so we were seat Ted in a separate function room. The calimari was great and the scallops were divine. The only improvement to be made is with the bread which was a little disappointing. Overall it was great food and service

Didn't know was brunch. Could have little more in terms of portion size. I thought I was going to lunch. A little bit noisy for that time of day but was friendly environment. Probably the flowing mimosas.

We absolutely loved Sequoia. It’s a stunning decor, very contemporary and artistic with windows affording an incredible view, overlooking the Potomac. Great patio dining. Great service, friendly staff and marvelous food. An upscale and very chic place to go.

I fell while walking back to my seats because there was a wet spot in te middle of the restaurant. My knee is still hurting from this experience. All the manager did was to ask if i was ok after he saw me falling into it.

Never again!

Sequoia has been my standby for 20 years. It was extremely busy and noisy with birthday parties taking advantage of the all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch. It's starting to get a little pricey for that brunch option. And staff were a little distracted - we had to call them over several times for coffee ...and since people got their own food, that seems a little inexcusable. They were, however, constantly refilling mimosas. And you can't beat the view.

We stopped in for the bottomless rose brunch before catching a show at the Kennedy Center. We walked in rather blind as there was no menu online, but were pleased with the variety of offerings. Each dish was better than the one before. The service was the right amount of attentive.

A pay-one-price, all-you-can eat, tapas-style brunch concept which largely works, although they need to expand both the small-plate offerings and the cocktails available. Our service was, in a word, sad. Dirty glasses on the table. A server who would not listen, instead would try to answer questions before one finished asking. On the cocktails: he: "They're endless; you can have as much as you want, that's what the menu means." Us: "We weren't asking that, we were wondering if you had other cocktails available or just mimosas." And then later, he: "The coffee isn't hot enough?" Us: "The coffee temperature is fine, we called you back because what we would like is some sugar please, not just the sweetener." And so on. In short, it felt like we were dragging an anchor along in the sand instead of sailing smoothly through brunch... and where's the fun in that? Might give it one more try at some point and if no improvement.... will certainly call it quits.

First of all, I ended up taking a group of 7 to Sequoia because another popular (famous) DC restaurant said they could not accommodate a friend who was flying in and might be 15-30 minutes late arriving for our reservation. Canceled that res and called Sequoia. They were totally accommodating, professional and courteous abut it. The happy hour and meal were top notch, and actually more affordable than I anticipated. After that amazing experience, I forgot to take my receipt from signing the bill. Since this was a large bill and I was getting reimbursed by my company, I was very nervous. Called the next day and once again, 100% accommodating, professional and helpful. Jemma immediately started researching my bill and had my receipt emailed to me by close of business. I am now a huge fan of Sequoia. And did I mention the incredible view? Spectacular. The guests who had flown in from Texas, Chicago and LA were blown away by this DC experience.

Invited my family visiting from out of town to Sequoia for dinner. From the get-go, the server was a hard-read, a bit impatient and unfriendly. A family member leaned over to me and asked me why the server was acting that way and embarrassed, I tried to convince them to dismiss it saying the server is probably tired or has a lot on their mind, etc.
One of us ordered a medium steak - prepared Pittsburgh style- but they had to send it back twice because the steaks were so rare the centers were cold. To his credit, the manager, Michael, stepped in and made sure that the steak was finally made as requested. He was very nice and he went out of his way to make sure everything worked out with our order. I don't think we saw the server until we got the bill. The manager saved the evening for the most part. I will prob go back for drinks or happy hour or something lite, but for upscale dining I will go elsewhere.

We loved the restaurant. We had an early dinner as we had tickets to a show at the Kennedy Center later that evening. The food was amazing. Both my wife and I kept commenting on how good the food was!!! Great wine selection and the views from our table by the Potomac were stellar. The wait staff were very attentive yet not overbearing. We both are looking to make a excuse to go back :-)

My companion and I dined at Sequoia for brunch recently. I haven’t dined there in many years because despite the lovely ambiance, the food was always mediocre. I read this summer that Sequoia was being revamped, so after several months I decided to give it try. The restaurant is still as stunning as I remembered with the open space concept and natural light flowing through.

Our server was pleasant and not as attentive as I would have liked but when she was present she made sure our needs were met. For this I am appreciative and was overall happy with her service. The food selection at the buffet was what any foodie would want in life. The presentation was great, the attendants at food stations were hardworking, and food was replenished regularly.

I had an omelet which was delicious as well as the fettuccini pasta station, salmon, paella (wish it had less onions), fried chicken (the breast was too dry but the wing was moist and flavorful), mussels (wish the onions were left out), and fresh fruit; I could have eaten those all day long. However, crab cake had an odd taste and the apple danish while good was cold. With the exception of the freezer burnt ice cream and cheesecake, the miniature desserts of fruit tarts, chocolate cake, and crème brulee were fantastic.

My companion wanted the prime rib and asked for it well-done but was told that was not possible. He had a waffle, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and salmon that all lacked flavor so he pushed them aside. He also had the fried chicken but thought it was dry. He was truly unhappy with the brunch.

I do not know how I missed information about the cost, but we were both in shock when the check arrived. The brunch was $65.00 p/p and including the tax with tip, we paid about $175.00. Although the buffet included snow crab legs, oysters, taco station, eggs benedict, etc.; there are plenty of other DMV area restaurants offering a similar selection and level of service for at least 30% less in cost.

Food was ok, but service was not good. My friend and I had to protect our plates 4 times from the servers because they tried to take our plates before we finished, I was asked if I wanted another beer but despite saying I didn’t want it they brought it to the table. Overall we felt rushed and the service was not paying attention.

The bread serving was less than mediocre. My brother-in-law had the cioppino and rated it a 2 out of five. I had the scallops and they were tasty. My sister had the salmon and she was pleased. My dessert was a huge disappointment. I ordered the chocolate cheese cake and was stunned when a small ball arrived at the table. I should have sent it back but didn't.
Perhaps I should wait a few months and try again. For now, I wouldn't return.
