For my birthday we went to Sequoia for dinner. My friends had been there many times before, but it was our first time because we don’t live in DC. I don’t ever mind paying for great service and even better food and that was certainly the case here.
Overall, it was definitely two thumbs up! The ambience was very nice and the restaurant and the view of the harbor was lovely. Our waiter was great and the food was sensational! We are very particular about quality food and everyone at the table was very pleased with every dish we ordered. The staff is also very friendly, courteous, and warm. The whole evening was truly fantastic.
My only suggestion would be to change the chairs or the upholstery on the chairs. Unfortunately, every stain was visible, which took away from the good impression Sequoia was trying to make. That being said, it’s too bad we live in Baltimore because we would definitely frequent the restaurant more often if we lived closer. It was a wonderful evening and we highly recommend Sequoia for any and every occasion.
Great brunch buffet. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. The only drawback was that it got a little noisy during peak time but otherwise we loved it.
My second time going and I really enjoyed it. The brunch is amazing! Check it out.
The music was wayyyy too loud, but everything else was great!
It started out a bit rocky the waitress never came over to our table, after about 15 min of waiting I notified a manger who was stunned that we hadn’t been waited on. Chris the manager was amazing his personality is one that will make you forget a bad experience quick. If it wasn’t for him we would have left. The food and the ambiance is always amazing.
I had a great experience
Sunday brunch was expensive but worth the cost. The buffet was extensive and the food very good. All drinks, including mimosas and bellini’s were included in the price too. And you can’t beat the view!
Sequoia is a must for brunch! Food is amazing & they have a wide selection of breakfast & lunch options!
Stunning environment with soaring space, a gorgeous sculptural light fixture flowing across the ceiling, massive window wall overlooking the river. Equally perfect for a special night out or a casual gathering with friends. Ask for a seat by the windows, or eat outside on the wide patios that step down to the riverwalk. Lovely starters include mushroom bruschetta and unique cheese/charcuterie assortments. Service was extremely attentive, lamb chops were grilled perfectly, the various accompanying sauces and sides all excellent. Our group of 10 had a great night out!
If the weather is nice and you can get a table outside, this is a great place for a meal. Good food, and we had very good service even though it was an extremely busy night.
Awful. Chaotic. Food was lousy. One of only 2 restrooms on main level was out of order on a Sunday afternoon when 200 patrons must have been present. Would never go back unless starving.
Wonderful views, delicious food, excellent service. Would highly recommend.
The menu & the prices are not the same in open table and at the restaurant. There is no buffet on Saturday
The hostess, Mara, and our waiter, Rashard, really made this night a memorable experience. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and although the food was excellent, it was really the top-notch service by Mara and Rashard that made this such a wonderful dining experience. I let them know that it was a special evening and they did their best to accommodate us, even though the place was absolutely jam-packed. Plus, they were also very understaffed that evening, but still managed to see that we were taken care of. A++ for service.
THANK YOU MARA and RASHARD!
The setting was gorgeous and the food was generally very good (kale side was not good) but the waitress kept pushing us to buy the more expensive dishes - notably the seafood tower for $180. There was also a noisy band upstairs. Food took a long time to come.
The waitress was amazing but I was disappointed that they only served what I wanted at dinner time. Management needs to update the website so you can see all menus, not just the dinner one. I really wanted what I picked online and the meal I had instead just did not hit the spot.
I will say the calamari is delicious.
Awesome service and the food was amazing!
Great location, food, and atmosphere to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary. Our server, Rashad, was very knowledgable, accommodating, and responsive; and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal selections. We plan to return when the weather warms a bit, to take advantage of the outdoor seating experience. Kudos to all!
This review is specific to their Sunday brunch. For context, we have dined at Sequoia before and after the renovation. It used to be high end but it is so loud and squeezed in that it is hard to enjoy a brunch unless you don’t mind a club scene. I believe this is now better suited for the millennial and not so much for others. It is so loud with hip hop music, patrons looked like they came straight from a club a few hours earlier and it is packed like a club bar. For example, they used to have the desserts near the buffet area but instead used that area to pack in more tables and the desserts are squeezed between the bar, the dining area and the reception. The brunch food is great if you don’t mind the scene, from patrons screaming their escapades from the night before to the music blaring so loud you have to scream to be heard. But for this user, the cost is not worth the experience.
It was amazing! Great Food, Great Times
Their Sunday Brunch is a bountiful offering of delicious and beautifully presented food. Unending Mimosas, raw bar, carvery, breakfast station, and an outrageous dessert station complete with cotton candy and milkshake bar. To top off the cuisine, the great view of the Kennedy Center and the Harbor make for a wonderful experience!
Very loud. Big and crowded brunch. Good selection of food on buffet and tasty. I have never seen plates piled so high. This is a place with many big eaters! Fabulous waitress! Julie I think?
I had heard about this restaurant by a friend. Her comments did not do this place justice. The brunch far exceeded my expectations. I would love to bring a large party here for a gathering. The food was superb and our waitress was fabulous.
We had a last minute add & the restaurant/manager was very flexible and accommodated us. The food was great despite how busy they were. I’d definitely come back for dinner.
Had a wonderful time here for a lovely dinner for a friend's Bachelorette Party. They made us feel so special and were wonderfully accommodating. They were hosting a wedding the same night and the place was packed but everything in a reasonable amount of time. 10/10 would recommend
Fabulous warm chickpea spinach salad and Chilean Sea Bass and Scallops!
60th birthday. Lovely dinner and service from Adrian.
All the plates I ordered were very good. Wish I could’ve tried more plates but I’ll just have to come back! Staff was very attentive with clearing plates and refilling drinks. The fact that coffee and juice were included in the bottomless was a plus
Fantastic brunch food and ambiance! Freddy, our waiter, made the experience unforgettable with his hospitality and service!
If you're looking for a brunch location with bottomless drinks and amazing food, look no further. The hardest part is deciding what you won't be eating.
While the food and ambiance were nice. At times it felt like I was not even there. Service was horrible.
My 7 yo loved her birthday surprise. Food and drinks were great
We were in DC for a few days looking at colleges. I chose Sequoia based on location, price, and reviews. Overall, I was not impressed. The dining room was decorated beautifully, as the reviews suggested, however, there were so many tables compared to the number of diners, that there was a feeling of the place being unpopular. Despite the low number of occupied tables, service was poor. Food was ok. I would not recommend or return.
Absolutely loved Sequoia-very beautiful setting, with full advantage of the view. Service was extremely professional, friendly and not at all rushed; twice a manager dropped be to ensure we were happy- coming back to DC in June and definitely plan to return here
I hadn't been to Sequoia in a few years but it's just as good as I remember it. The food was outstanding! There was a slight mix up so our appetizer and main course came out at the same time, but it wasn't a big issue and they graciously compted our desserts. I highly recommend Sequoia to anyone looking for an indulgent dinner in a stylish venue.
Nice location food could have been better. The bun on the hamburger was stale
Excellent Easter Sunday Brunch! We had a surprised visitor and the reservation was for 10 guests and they were able to accommodate immediately with no issues. Family friendly and everyone had a wonderful time!
Our family of 5 enjoyed Easter brunch at an indoor table facing the water. When we first arrived they sat us in a very busy thoroughfare but they easily relocated us upon request to a nice table with a beautiful water view. The restaurant was very busy for brunch given that it was Easter Sunday. The food selection was spectacular and is what keeps us coming back to this brunch hotspot. The service was a bit slow for drinks and plate removal but not surprising given the holiday mayhem. If you are going for a brunch with activities be careful to ask specifically what time the activities end - they ended an hour before we got there and kids were disappointed to miss the balloon guy and face painting. But overall the food & views were amazing and the milkshake station was a huge hit.
