Sequoia Ratings and Reviews
Food and service were up to expectations but not over the top to earn the full 5 stars. The main issue we had during our meal was the music in the restaurant. Sounds simple enough to plan for the Valentine's pre-fix menu, but that seems to be something that management doesn't consider important. During our Valentine's meal we heard everything from Plain White Tees, Adele, Nickelback, Maroon 5, etc. It was not dinner music and definitely not for for a nice conversation. On top of that we had to ask 3 times to have them just turn the volume down so we didn't have to raise our voices to hear each other. So if you're into that energy for an expensive dinner, great. We just had different expectations for our first experience at this restaurant. Overall rating is a 3 out of 5, one we can check off the list but it'll be hard to go back until we can hang out on the patio in the summer with a few drinks instead.
Went there for Valentines day with my wife. The restaurant wasn't super busy with plenty of empty tables, but the service was poor. Took 20 minutes to get initial drinks and refills on soda let alone alcohol was intermittent. The food was delicious and when they overcooked my wifes steak the manager was happy to replace it. Over all the experience wasnt bad, it just wasn't what we paid for since the meal plus drinks was around 300.00. I have had better experiences there but it was several years ago. This is not what we expected from a place this nice with a reputation as a fine dining establishment.
Could not have picked a better place to celebrate my brother's birthday. Off the bat the hosts greeted us with a warm happy birthday and sat us at a nice table right next to the view. Our server Andy was so professional and friendly. The food was delicious. My favorite were the tuna Taquitos and my brother licked his cioppinno clean! One of the managers even stopped by to wish him a happy birthday (I believe his name was Mickey). The complimentary birthday cake was delicious as well, just the right sweetness. 5 stars from start to finish. We will be back!
Everything was outstanding! From welcoming hosts, excellent service given from Nicole, very friendly and attentive managers ( I believe their names are Annie and Mauricio), to delicious appetizers and entrees! Gorgeous view!
We were celebrating a birthday and manager Annie delivered complimentary nonetheless delicious dessert with fireworks that made my friend’s birthday even more special.
We’ll be back soon!! 😀👏
Thank you Sequoia!!
I honestly think I paid a little more than I expected to for just 2 people, however the food was well worth it. When I made reservations for this place they asked what the occasion was and I said it was for an anniversary, not thinking anything of it. They surprised us with an anniversary dessert! So cute and delicious. Also highly recommend their Nutella s’mores dessert because that was BANGIN’.
My friend and I took our daughters there for a post-theatre birthday dinner and everything was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish - the seafood soup and squid ink pasta were superb. And our waitress Sunny was top notch.
I have always loved this place and this evening was a reminder of why.
I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday brunch for my sister. Sunny was phenomenal! She was so on top of everything- between making sure drinks were full, empty plates were cleared promptly and everyone was happy. For such a large buffet food was very tasty, and there was something for everyone. I will be sure to recommend to anyone visiting DC in the future, and I will definitely be back! Really want to check out the outside patio once the nice weather is here. Thank you so much to Sunny and Mauricio for making my sisters birthday the best it could be!
We had a Retirement Lunch there for 11 business partners, and Pete, our waiter, was amazing. There were only a few other parties, so the atmosphere was perfect. Thank you for the quick response, and accommodations for the party at such an early time. THANKS!
The recently renovated dining room with bar is improved. The space in dining is open where natural light brings more passive heat during winter. Nice view of the Kennedy Center, Potomac River and water sports. Food are marvelous and healthy in every meal. Our waiters who are responsive to what we need or order for food are very friendly and hospitality, too.
