We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. Service was friendly and appropriately attentive. Chesapeake Tower met my expectation that started last week when I made reservations. We will definitely be back!

Food was average - the restaurant was extremely loud because of the acoustics -- for parties of 4 or more do not go here you will not be able to converse effectively! Service was good and view is very nice, but unfort that didnt make up for everything else - not an inexpensive place either - Yelp accurately rates this 3 stars, whereas OpenT gives this 4.5 stars (which is grossly misrepresented)...

Planned a night out for parents anniversary and it was very disappointing. There were out of bottled water and out of a specific wine. The appetizers took way too long to be served. For the entrees, one person ordered the turkey burger and it was lukewarm at best. I ordered the New York steak and it was not cooked to order and it was also lukewarm. Was only able to eat the ends of the steak because the middle was undercooked. We were there early, the restaurant was not crowded so I don’t understand the issue. The desserts were good and my parents did receive an anniversary dessert. Not a good experience at all for this special occasion. I hadn’t been to Sequoia in a few years and was very surprised by this experience. I’ve always had very good experiences in the past. I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Overall a great experience. This place prides itself on tapas style brunch, but the portions are big enough for one person to enjoy.

Brunch is a flat rate and you order anything on the menu, and they will keep bringing it out, so there is good value, however the only caveat is that the portions are big enough to constitute a meal so if you eat sensibly then the food is terribly over priced, meaning that you can eat your full on a single serving and will still be stuck paying $44 for the brunch. The ambiance is great, nice view of the water, portion sizes are larger than normal tapas style restaurants (which was a pleasant surprise as I really dislike tapas dining).

The entire experience was horrific! I’ve dined at sequoia plenty of times and have never ever been treated the way they treated me! From the hostess to the waiting staff I couldn’t be more disappointed. I would not recommend for large parties at all. From this experience I will never dine at sequoia again. They refused to accomodate my large party and got upset when I had a larger turn out than expected! The restaurant was basically empty and they continuously told me what they weren’t going to do for me! I work in the hospitality business and know the ins and outs.

Very nice restaurant overlooking the Potomac. Ambiance was awesome! The food was just okay. The crab cake appetizer was the best thing we ate. So for the price I would expect better entrees. The dessert was a fancy Belgium chocolate cake bar with grand mariner whipped cream, fresh raspberries and some blown sugar toppers. It was de-escalated with the addition of sprinkles and the whipped topping was just sort of plopped all over the bar. The only reason I’d return is the ambiance and a good happy hour.

Lovely space on the waterfront in Georgetown. Food was very good. If the weather had been better I'm sure we'd have taken a seat outside on the expansive patio. Worth visiting.

For my birthday we went to Sequoia for dinner. My friends had been there many times before, but it was our first time because we don’t live in DC. I don’t ever mind paying for great service and even better food and that was certainly the case here.

Overall, it was definitely two thumbs up! The ambience was very nice and the restaurant and the view of the harbor was lovely. Our waiter was great and the food was sensational! We are very particular about quality food and everyone at the table was very pleased with every dish we ordered. The staff is also very friendly, courteous, and warm. The whole evening was truly fantastic.

My only suggestion would be to change the chairs or the upholstery on the chairs. Unfortunately, every stain was visible, which took away from the good impression Sequoia was trying to make. That being said, it’s too bad we live in Baltimore because we would definitely frequent the restaurant more often if we lived closer. It was a wonderful evening and we highly recommend Sequoia for any and every occasion.

It started out a bit rocky the waitress never came over to our table, after about 15 min of waiting I notified a manger who was stunned that we hadn’t been waited on. Chris the manager was amazing his personality is one that will make you forget a bad experience quick. If it wasn’t for him we would have left. The food and the ambiance is always amazing.

Stunning environment with soaring space, a gorgeous sculptural light fixture flowing across the ceiling, massive window wall overlooking the river. Equally perfect for a special night out or a casual gathering with friends. Ask for a seat by the windows, or eat outside on the wide patios that step down to the riverwalk. Lovely starters include mushroom bruschetta and unique cheese/charcuterie assortments. Service was extremely attentive, lamb chops were grilled perfectly, the various accompanying sauces and sides all excellent. Our group of 10 had a great night out!

For weekend brunch, if you have like 2-3 hours to work with, then this is likely a great spot.
If you only have an 60-90 minutes, then I wouldn't recommend it. Went there for Saturday brunch with my family before going to the White House garden tour and had been running late so we only had about an hour and fifteen minutes or hour and a half (more or less) for lunch. Didn't realize there was a special $45 all you can eat tapas/drink brunch thing going on. The first round of drinks took about 30 minutes to come. We got some things we didn't order and one of the people didn't get the food he ordered at all. There were a lot of busboys but only saw about 2 waiters for a huge floor with lots of tables, so service was very slow. They need to have a lot more waiters working to improve service.

Other than that, the food was very good. Drinks were good too. It's tapas size so you'll want to order multiple things per person which we didn't realize when we ordered.

I don't know if there's a time limit on the brunch deal but if you want a lazy brunch and spend 2-3 hours there and order a lot of food and drinks, then this would probably be a great spot.

Awful. Chaotic. Food was lousy. One of only 2 restrooms on main level was out of order on a Sunday afternoon when 200 patrons must have been present. Would never go back unless starving.

The hostess, Mara, and our waiter, Rashard, really made this night a memorable experience. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and although the food was excellent, it was really the top-notch service by Mara and Rashard that made this such a wonderful dining experience. I let them know that it was a special evening and they did their best to accommodate us, even though the place was absolutely jam-packed. Plus, they were also very understaffed that evening, but still managed to see that we were taken care of. A++ for service.
THANK YOU MARA and RASHARD!

The setting was gorgeous and the food was generally very good (kale side was not good) but the waitress kept pushing us to buy the more expensive dishes - notably the seafood tower for $180. There was also a noisy band upstairs. Food took a long time to come.

The waitress was amazing but I was disappointed that they only served what I wanted at dinner time. Management needs to update the website so you can see all menus, not just the dinner one. I really wanted what I picked online and the meal I had instead just did not hit the spot.

I will say the calamari is delicious.

Great location, food, and atmosphere to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary. Our server, Rashad, was very knowledgable, accommodating, and responsive; and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal selections. We plan to return when the weather warms a bit, to take advantage of the outdoor seating experience. Kudos to all!

This review is specific to their Sunday brunch. For context, we have dined at Sequoia before and after the renovation. It used to be high end but it is so loud and squeezed in that it is hard to enjoy a brunch unless you don’t mind a club scene. I believe this is now better suited for the millennial and not so much for others. It is so loud with hip hop music, patrons looked like they came straight from a club a few hours earlier and it is packed like a club bar. For example, they used to have the desserts near the buffet area but instead used that area to pack in more tables and the desserts are squeezed between the bar, the dining area and the reception. The brunch food is great if you don’t mind the scene, from patrons screaming their escapades from the night before to the music blaring so loud you have to scream to be heard. But for this user, the cost is not worth the experience.

Their Sunday Brunch is a bountiful offering of delicious and beautifully presented food. Unending Mimosas, raw bar, carvery, breakfast station, and an outrageous dessert station complete with cotton candy and milkshake bar. To top off the cuisine, the great view of the Kennedy Center and the Harbor make for a wonderful experience!
