Not to sound snarky but I literally thought I had Covid. Meaning that the food was literally tasteless. I feel so bad for the serving staff in the midst of this horrible situation with pandemic restrictions and I realize that there are incredible pressures on the restaurant industry. Financially I just don’t even understand how they survive but I must admit that this was probably the worst meal i’ve had in Washington DC. They have a wonderful location with a beautiful view and that is a plus. Unfortunately wait times were horrible. Piña colada brought without a straw… Straw arrive 15 minutes later. Hamburger for $20 completely tasteless. Thai style Rice dish absolutely tasted like nothing. Literally nothing. Not bad mind you but no taste at all. I left a 20% tip as usual because the waiters are getting killed and making no money but I will not be coming back. I have been a long time customer at Sequoia for more than 20 years and was very disappointed. Good news was there was a Mexican restaurant that I noticed is in the Washington Harbor as well and that’s run by a Colombian family who owns other locations where I’ve eaten before and I know that their food is amazing. Very sad to see this development for Sequoia. Very sad.

It was my wife’s birthday. The restaurant was nice and the food was great . Only issues I had was one I was coming from out of town couldn’t find the place, no signs or advertisements indicating where to go or where to park. My waitress brought our drinks never brought straws, and my wife had dessert she never bought her a fork to eat with.

I have heard a lot about the AYCE bottomless drinks brunch at Sequoia and was very excited to try it. Given the level of detail and attention that I had heard about and the attention given when I answered the phone to confirm my reservation, I would think that they would give more pertinent information regarding the menu. Over the phone they described the fare as tapas style all you can eat. When I got to the restaurant the server let my friend and I know that they have a theme every weekend and it is always changing - this weekend was southern food. My disappointment was quite great as I don’t care for southern food and certainly don’t think it is worth $65.00. With that important information, I would’ve made my reservation for a different weekend. While it is all you can eat, the menu consists of approx 16 items and everything is served on a small plate as 1 piece - I was looking for tapas style to have 2-3 pieces of each item on the plate. Additionally I was miffed with the hostess that seated us, we chose to sit outside for social distancing and fresh air/sunshine and the she intentionally bypassed many empty tables in the sunshine with beautiful views of the river and attempted to seat us in the shade under the concrete overhang, around the corner behind many bushes, with no view and the windchill was under 50 degrees. When we asked to sit at one of the other tables she responded with “it was worth a shot to try” and moved us to a sunny bright table. During the 2 hours that we were there she didn’t “attempt” to seat anyone else in that area. I will not plan to return as $100 for 8 plates/pieces of southern food and 2 mimosas was not worth it.

The food used to be much better quality for the price. The ambiance was just okay and the experience seemed impersonal and rushed.

The food came out quickly but still seemed cold and not 100% fresh. The menu options sound good but the food doesn’t meet the standards or expectations.

The calamari was excellent. Sweet and succulent. Salmon was buttery and cooked just right. This was my first visit and I know I will be returning.

Great setting overlooking the Potomac River. Food was decent but not super. Server was extremely polite but service was a bit on the slow side, especially when it came to clearing plates.

We sat outside so we could enjoy the beautiful views and fresh air. We started with calamari and oysters on the half shell. Both were delicious. For entrees, we had crab fried rice, Korean chicken salad, lobster fettucine, and sea bass. We enjoyed every bite of every meal. But my favorite thing was the warm doughnuts with fresh berries and cream. Ridiculously good. Our server was solicitous and prompt--it was a near perfect meal. We'll be back.

We love this restaurant. The setting by the water is lovely. The service is excellant and the food has never disappointed. The price of the Sunday brunch was not posted on their website and we were surprised ti learn it was nearly double last year’s price.

We arrived early and they sat us immediately. We had an exceptional table outside which created a wonderfully relaxing experience. I did call earlier and the person who answered the phone was not helpful and condescending, we almost canceled our reservations because of it. The waiter was fine, he did not rush us but politely reminded us that we only had two hours to sit at the table due to the COVID restrictions. Overall a wonderful experience, food is good, the view is outstanding.

Food was OK. I ordered the surf and turf special and was really excited about it. I ordered the meat to be cooked medium rare. It was brought out to me cooked well done. I hate being that person who complains but it was too expensive of a dish to not say anything. They agreed it was really well done and not what I ordered. Within 5 minutes they brought out a new dish. I cut into it and it was so rare it was blue. I took one bite and the center was cold. I felt too bad to send it back again. Overall experience was good but could have been better with a properly cooked steak.

Reservation were easy to make and had the table ready when we got there. The food was great and the ambiance just what we needed-beautiful day! However the service could have been better. Our waitress was very slow. Because of Covid we were split in two tables and she took order for one table and literally ignored the 2nd. She would pass right over and go on to the next group. It took half an hour to get drinks, never came to refill. Service could definitely be better. Otherwise it was a lovely afternoon.

Beautiful waterfront location and lovely indoor atmosphere. My party of 4 made the best of the experience as we had chosen Sequoia for a special occasion but unfortunately experienced terrible customer service (from the very beginning despite having reservations we were sent to three separate check in stations - all with lines, none of which were communicating with one another, all of which were staffed by extremely rude individuals - one of whom who was talking back to us and speaking under her breath when I expressed concern / question about their process). Once seated we continued to have poor wait service - both in terms of wait time to lack of attention to basics being missing. That said, we all enjoyed our meals in a lovely location.

Went for Easter brunch & it was delicious! I recommend going earlier in the day. It’s more crowded closer to 12/12:30.
Our server kept our mimosas full, the food was awesome. And while it was a $90 brunch- the oysters, crab legs, prime rib, milkshakes, cotton candy, & drinks made it worthwhile!!

It was extremely busy, but even considering that the service was poor. We waited for an hour to be able to get our check because our server didn’t check on us. The apps were good, but very overpriced. As were the drinks. You’re paying for the waterfront view obviously, and the vibe was fun but there are far better options in Georgetown with the same views, better food/drinks & service. Wouldn’t go back. :(
