Brunch was awesome, love the food, lots of options from healthy to everything else, my favorite brunch restaurant. Our server Ellie was fantastic, thank you
Second time visiting Sequoia- enjoy it every time!
Nathan was exemplary of a first class server/representative of a great restaurant. His timing was perfect and memory superb!
Sequoia had a beautiful view from the table! The food was just okay not worth it really for the price paid! Beautiful atmosphere & scenery though right on the water!
Great server, very knowledgeable about the restaurants menu he made wonderful suggestions that my boyfriend, friends and I all enjoyed.
We were given a table outside which we wanted. Despite there being lots of tables we were sat next to one of the exit doors which meant lots of foot traffic passing behind my husband.
We ordered the Charcuterie plate to share for an appetiser. I had the lamb chops for my main and my husband had steak. My lamb chops were absolutely delicious, some of the best I’ve ever had. The steak was delicious too, although the choice of greens was limited. My husband didn’t want asparagus and there was only Escarole as an alternative so he had mushrooms.
The reason they only get 3 stars was because the Charcuterie never arrived. They offered to bring it out with the main course but that was obviously not acceptable. We weren’t charged, and were given a free soda refill as an apology.
It’s not the first time we’ve been, and we didn’t have any problems before. I know mistakes can happen but this just took the edge off the fact the food was so delicious. If they can make sure the service matches the food they will get 5 stars.
The food was great and my friends and I liked the terrace. The waiter was nice enough not to charge me for the dessert—it was my birthday!
Excellent service and good as always
Service was lacking especially with it being a buffet( plates never being cleared, drinks etc) but overall still a good experience and would return!
There are not words to accurately describe my experience at Sequoia. The staff is superb even when they aren’t necessarily serving you. The food is amazing beyond words. The atmosphere is gorgeous and perfect. I just loved every minute of my brunch experience.
We had a great time... good and ambiance was lovely
Is the most beautiful place to sit outside and enjoy the view of Potomac river.
We had a wonderful meal! The food was absolutely delicious! We had great service, a wonderful waiter! We were outside and enjoyed a beautiful view! It was nice to have dinner in a place which was not crazy mobbed! I highly recommend Sequoia!
I would highly recommend Sequoia to anyone. The table outside facing the water was excellent. The menu is always comprehensive. The food is always of high quality and presentation. Our server, Gustavo, was outstanding! He never rushed us, took pictures for us as it was our anniversary, explained our wine and food selections very well. And gave us some complimentary champagne. He made a great night even better!
Sequoia's occupies a spectacular location on the Potomac River which is hard to beat in DC. We ate outside during the sunset on a beautiful evening, where the ambiance is naturally great, with the river, view of the Kennedy Center, boats in and out, and people walking by. The restaurant seems to be relying on this gorgeous location to maintain their clientele, however, because the food leaves much to be desired and yet the prices are absolutely arrogant. We actually don't mind paying high prices for food in restaurants where expert chefs create culinary experiences for their guests, but this is NOT the case at Sequoia! While the prices are exceedingly high, the food is mediocre at best, with a menu that feels like it was created in the mid-90s and never changed. The sauces were heavy and bland, the offerings lacked creativity, and there doesn't seem to be any attempt to use locally sourced or organic ingredients. Vegetarian options were also extremely limited. It seemed to us that Sequoia's is trying to charge top rated foodie prices without earning it. We left extremely disappointed and feeling ripped off. It feels like a waste of a spectacular location. My husband and I met at Sequoia's 25 years ago and have come back occasionally tougher. This time we were excited to bring our now grown children for dinner. What a disappointing experience. If we ever come back again it will only be to share a cocktail. We will not dine at Sequoia's again.
We celebrated my daughters sweet 16 there this past weekend. the photos online were deceiving. i didn't expect to be with the harbor tourists everywhere. i thought the restaurant was seated directly on the water. the food was mediocre. my salad was wilted. the mashed poataoes were 1/2 cup serving for I think $8. When the server brough the dessert they didnt offer a dessert menu to us we had to wait. they only brought the desert for the birthday girl but only one utensil. After she finished her dessert we ordered more separately which was strange. They said they were short on menus because too many people were ordering dessert. I ordered the girls mocktails to celebrate my daughters birthday. They came and I told the server after one sip the girls did not care for them and they did not want them. The server did not offer a replacement drink nor did she remove them from the bill, she simply said she could provide some splenda.
The food is average, no expectations of going back.
Amazing bottomless brunch!
Fabulous setting! Great service! Excellent food! A bit pricey but worth the splurge though Sonoma Cutrer chardonnay should never cost $16/glass.
I have been here a couple of times but I brought my manager and it was a beautiful Friday night to sit outside was a very good dinner and everything else
Sat on the gorgeous patio with spectacular views of the Potomac. Food was every bit as good as the view. Crab cakes we're excellent and nicely plated with slaw and succotash.
First Timers!! We heard great reviews from a couple of friends, and we were not disappointed, Papua (Server) was awesome, very friendly, happy, and knowledgeable of the menu. I had the pork chop, and my partner had the lamb. We will definitely be back!
Every time we get together and meet here for Sunday’s brunch, somebody goes home and retire from cooking on Sundays!!!
Rich was the best server ever. Didn't miss a beat.
Sequoia brunch on Sundays is amazing!
It was a great birthday celebration!
Beautiful venue for outdoor seating overlooking the Potomac. We had a part of 6 and everyone enjoyed the experience.
Lobster was tough. A bit high priced for food not to be fabulous.
Ellie was amazing! So friendly and attentive
Waiter was friendly but get forgetting about us. Slow to get our food out. Food was great but not worth the value. Brunch is better.
Overall it was great experience my date and I were there for the first time. We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was cooked perfectly. However it seemed as if our server was too far to be called on quickly and so we ending up staying there for 1.5 hours - I like quick service. But this place is not about quick service. It’s very casual dining. I’ll keep this in mind on my future visit but I would recommend to anyone looking for great tasting food.
It’s a yes and no yes because of the scenery was beautiful and no due to the service i felt rushed and pressured to order our food. Also our server came to our table 2 twice and when we order he brought out the wrong thing and forgot to add the shrimp to the surf and turf. I also felt a little disrespected when we asked for a corona and he brought out a plastic cup for us to pour, but I’m looking around i saw a gentlemen who had beer as well in a tall glass cup.
Ellie was a very good server and attentive to our needs
ELLIE - our AMAZING server was more good friend than server. Recommendations were genuine AND most important excellent! As a frequent visitor to DC Sequoia has become a regular spot for dinner.
Great weather and even greater outdoor dining at Sequoia! Martinis were cold and crafted to perfection. Appetizers and salad delivered on time and expertly prepared. My entrée, two large chunk-meat crab-cakes with crispy fries. My date had the Seafood pot which has mussels, shrimp, lobster, clams, scallops, potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Take advantage of the fine weather and phenomenal service (Thanks to Rachel our waitress).
It was amazing eating off the water. Really worth the price !
Brunch at Sequoia’s is always a pleasure. Tons of food options and the seafood selection alone is worth the price ticket. Very noisy, so if you are looking for a more quiet brunch, this is not the restaurant for you!
Our Brunch at Sequoia was thoroughly enjoyed by our Party. Definitely would recommend to others and schedule for future.
Excellent service! Delicious entrees to choose from on the Sunday Brunch. They really took good care of us!
