Everything was amazing. Sunday brunch was pricey. It’s ok if you don’t plan on going often I guess but that seems a weird business strategy lol.
It is really is food for groups for brunch. The price seems high but the amount of food and options and drinks to choose from makes the price well worth it.
It was my sons 16th birthday brunch. Had a great time and took my kids for the first time, they loved it!! Everyone got their fill but left room for dessert.
Sequoia's Sunday Brunch is truly unmatched. I've been twice and each time it has been incredible. Although it is on the pricier side, it is worth every penny. Additionally, the wait staff does not rush you out after a certain time limit. Each time I've gone, we've stayed for a long enough time to get our moneys worth but not so long that we're taking up a table for other guests. It's one of the best brunch experiences out there.
The tasted amazing. The waitress and waiter did an outstanding job. I love the brunch. Like always, I had a wonderful time.
Daughter 8th birthday brunch with friends
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. All staff at Sequoia are amazingly professional and impeccable trained. Sequoia sets the bar high for hospitality and five-star service! The food is equally as impressive. Fresh, seasoned to perfection, and cooked with care. In all seriousness, many restaurants in the area could stand to learn something from Sequoia and take a page out of their book.
hmm. the food was cold and tasteless. the crowd certainly got their money's worth of the free buffet. stay away unless you want to meet lots of people on parole
I’ve been to the buffet at Sequoia many times and had an amazing experience. However, the past weekend we went and it was not at all what we are used to and very disappointing. I made the reservation 2 weeks before for a 21st birthday and they called to confirm the day before. She mentioned we would be seated in a different room, I said that would be fine as long as everything else was the same, she confirmed it would be. We get there and it is nothing like the buffet. You order off a menu, and yes it’s endless plates but it is not the same as a buffet. I asked if I could customize an omelet (the have an omelet bar for the buffet) and was told no. The desserts are no where near the choices you have at the buffet... the cost was the same (at least within a few dollars). Had the woman that called to confirm the reservation been truthful that it would not be the same I would of cancelled the reservation. It was awkward trying to share plates with others at your table and we waited around so the waiter could get us our next request... this does not happen with a buffet. I feel like they were very dishonest about the experience we were getting and should of been upfront especially when your paying a lot of money to have what should be an amazing brunch. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.
Date nite was great, family friendly environment.
Excellent experience. Service was professional, friendly and flawless. Food was one of the best I’ve had in DC. Cocktails were inventive and delicious. One of the most underrated restaurants in DC. Highly recommend it!
This will be the last time I come back for NYE! The service tonight was extremely poor. It took over an hour to order drinks to the point that we had to go to the bar directly to get our drinks.
My intro plate was cold and had to be sent back to be hot. Our waitress never check in with us even when the manager came over. I don’t know if they are understaff for this evening but unacceptable when people are coming out paying a prefix price to bring in the new year. Unacceptable!
I called ahead to make sure they had our reservation and to let them know it was my father's birthday we were celebrating (as well as New Year's Eve). I asked if they do anything special for birthday's and if they could surprise my dad, and they said of course and that they do complimentary dessert with sparklers. When we got there they sat us in a corner next to an outside door, and because of the door or the vents the curtains kept blowing on us an other customers nearby. Many people complained about the curtains blowing everywhere and the draft but nothing was done about it. Then service was terrible. We waited a really long time just to get water, and we had to ask multiple times to get our drinks, to get our next course, and to just get any kind of help. We had to keep asking. Finally I went to management at the front desk to ask about the service and to make sure they were still doing the birthday dessert for my dad. One of the managers apologized and said they would make sure we were helped, but service never really improved, we had to ask for the New Year's Eve party favors that everyone got except us, and my dad never got his birthday surprise dessert. For all the money that was spent and after we asked multiple times for service, I expected better. I would not come back here again.
I love sequoia. It was NYE, so i get it. But the food was okay and service fair.
I’ll go back but for brunch!
We've been going to the Sequoia to dine and dance on New Year's Eve for many years. This year, the Sequoia hired a Latin band for the dancing. Why?? Previous musical groups have been excellent, and they always included some Latin numbers. This year's group played primarily Latin tunes, and their efforts at playing more conventional numbers was mediocre at best. If Sequoia was going to have a Latin band, then they should have highlighted that in their promotional materials. It was a very disappointing evening....although I should add that the food was the best ever. Mel Goodman
TERRIBLE experience at this place for New Year’s Eve. Really had high hopes since we were paying a very high price for their pre-set menu but SERVICE was not up to the price. We had a guy whom took about 15mins to greet us his excuse ‘sorry I thought you guys were waiting on two more guest’ REALLY sequoia that’s the best you can do on new year eve. I don’t care if I’m there by myself a decent server would of at least come around and introduce himself.. after that everything went downhill, let me make it short to you all he took 15mins to greet imagine how long it took for our 1st order of drinks and food to get to the table. Idk if they were understaff but I even saw people from a table in front of us get up and grab drinks from the bar since it was much faster.. food was just okay nothing special for a VERY special price! Do not see myself coming back here in the future..
Great Service for NYE
Went for New Years Eve and thought 8pm would be an early seating and the second seating would be the one that goes into midnight. We’ll be got charged for second seating and weren’t expecting it. Our bill was $208 before tip. We left at 9:30. We didn’t get to stay till midnight for that price!
Food was excellent but no bread with dinner and no coffee or tea with desert? Really strange. Don’t go for New Years. Rip off.
Open table did not give times for seatings.
New Years Eve
Excellent Service from the beginning to the end. The customer service was beyond my expectation.
Birthday for my wife. Ellie was a great waitress!
Loved our time at this place! The food, drinks, ambience, and service are all top-notch. Will definitely be coming back!
We were greeted warmly upon arrival. Our servers were the dynamic duo of Fong and Pete! The salmon and crab cake entrees were outstanding!
Thank you for a memorable evening on our visit from NYC!
Took some friends to experience the brunch that I went to on a Sunday. The Saturday brunch is a different menu so I was disappointed with that but the food offered was still excellent! We had a wonderful time and will return!
Had never been there, so we were excited to go for the Christmas Dinner buffet on xmas day, with 3pm reservations for 3 ppl. Food was good, but they shut everything down 5-10 mins before 4pm, and couldn't get attention of anyone that worked there for even an empty plate (it was weird). Apparently, they were closing at 4. Didn't know that they closed at 4--would never have made the reservation (online it said until 8pm somewhere). Really disappointing.
Reservations were made for 9 people for a 2:45 reservations on December 25, 2019. We were told that 80% of the party had to be present and they allowed a 15 minutes grace. We arrived ON TIME and was seated at 3:00. Our waiter took our drink order, gave us one of their menus which listed all of the items on the buffet.
We proceeded to get our food and while we was enjoying our first plate, our server told us we had until 3:40 to order drinks and that the kitchen was closing at 4:00 including the desserts. Now why when they told us all the other information when they called that NEVER mentioned the kitchen closing at 4:00.
We rushed to get as much food as we could, we stood in the long line for the dessert and there were hardly anything left. We were told they ran out of milk for the milkshakes, it was horrible. After standing in that long line, by the time we return to our table, our food was cold. We had no idea that we were going to be RUSHED to eat on Christmas Day from a well established restaurant. PLEASE INFORM ALL GUEST IN THE FUTURE, IF YOU MAKE A LATE RESERVATION, YOU HAVE VERY LIMITED TIME.
We went for Christmas brunch. Staff were very nice and the buffet food selection was very good and most of the food was tasty. However, this is a very noisy venue, with a stone floor and lots of windows, and when packed for Christmas, it’s mayhem. The buffet was up three small levels of stairs which makes it inaccessible for seniors. I’m sure many enjoyed the day, but for us, it was a forgettable, expensive nuisance. No more Christmas buffets for us.
I brought a party of 9 to Sequoia for their fabulous Christmas brunch. We had a 1:30 appointment, with three handicapped people, and had asked for a table close to the food. Sequoia gave us a large round table just steps from the buffet and seated us immediately upon entering, rather than making us wait. Soon after being seated, Rachel, our waitress, came around offering us champagne, mimosas and bellinis. She kept our glasses filled throughout our stay. the food was excellent, with many cooked to order stations, such as crab cakes, waffles, etc. The steam table or cold table dishes were replenished frequently so nothing was old and tired. Lots of roasted veggies and fresh salads, a sushi bar, barbecue, roast beef, turkey, ham, and all the usual trimmings, and a raw bar rounded out the offerings. The desserts were delicious and fresh, ranging from fresh fruits to small bites of cake and glazed fruit. Coffee and tea came promptly at the end of the meal. We have vowed to come back next year and do it again!
Fantastic Christmas dinner. We have gone for 6 years now. The food is fresh, high quality and delicious!
Staff took good care of us as a team so nothing got overlooked.
The dining room is beautiful - best in DC.
Noisy and crowded, but festive on Christmas Day. Lots of servers and they get the job done. The food choices ae remarkable. We go every Christmas Day and love the experience.
I went here for Christmas Day brunch. This is my go-to spot for holiday brunches. Sequoia always delivers an excellent product! EVERYTHING about their holiday brunches is amazing.
Ellie was the absolute BEST server.
Christmas Day Brunch was exquisite! Although, my family hesitated because it was a little pricey, the old saying stands true: You get what you pay for. We most certainly did!!! Crab legs, lamb chops, carving station, made to order crab cakes, make to order sushi, pasta station, dessert station, milkshake bar. The frozen Coquito was amazingly authentic. The mimosas & bellinis flowed. All were full & happy. We enjoyed each other's company, the restaurant & service. Outstanding!!!
This review is for the Christmas Day brunch. The dining room was beautiful as were the food presentations. The service was amazing. The food itself, while varied and plentiful, was good but not outstanding. Especially the raw bar. Since Oyster’s were pre-shucked, they were dry. Crab legs as others noted were watery and I thought fishy. I went with my teenagers and even though they can’t drink, the price was the same as for those who took advantage of the bottomless mimosas Bellinis and bloody Mary’s. It ended up costing with tax and tip over $100 per person. Just very expensive for what we ate.
Beautiful Christmas Brunch!
This is our year celebrating Christmas here and it keeps getting better!!
Always a joy as
Chefs stepped their game up again this year.
