Great brunch selection and quality. Just okay service and far too noisy. For the price they should do better.
Brunch was excellent for the price,
Delicious food... Excellent service
There was so many people packing food and taking it home. Loud and not manageable customers. Although I made reservations we got close to the door. It was so hot and could barely got drinks and we asked so many times about the nut cracker to get our crab legs opened. It was my friend birthday I had to remind waitress why? I included it in the reservation.
I love this place. The food is great and the atmosphere is so nice. It's by the water and the decor is sooo pretty.
We would recommend putting salt and pepper shakers on the table.
I’d return to this restaurant for the view and patio dining, but only for apps & drinks. It’s not worth the menu prices for what you’re getting in the overall dining experience. The room is pretty, but incredibly noisy with birthday parties all around. The entrees we had were fine, but not “wow” and certainly not for $55 steak and a $38 fish, both with mashed potatoes and asparagus as sides. Our server was attentive & pleasant, but he was distracted by the big parties he also had to cover and there were many times we waited or were ignored. Not his fault, but if I’m paying $200+ For a romantic dinner for my husband, I shouldn’t have to make excuses for ambience, service or menu design. I travel to DC often for work and now know that my expectations need to be adjusted when/if I ever return to Sequoia.
Very disappointed. The food was not worth the $$$. The mahi mahi was so rubbery I could barely eat it. The rest of the dishes were way too salty. We asked for a glass of whisky with a splash of water and it came so watered down we had to ask them to bring another one. It used to be really nice there but now the quality of the food has really gone down. Don’t waste your money.
the service and overall atmosphere was great. Good views of the water and very open and bright space. The food was okay but definitely not worth the price- I guess you are really paying for the view. Something I found to be odd was that most of us at the table were wearing black and when we got up to leave the napkins and table cloth left white fuzz everywhere. They even had a lint roller as they knew this was happening- would strongly suggest a change in linens :)
The food was good but I have two major complaints. First there was a live band amplified with large speakers. My companion could not hear me across the table - the server could not hear our orders. The loud amplified music might be OK at a rock concert but definitely not at a Sunday brunch. A very BIG negative. Second, the servers were constantly taking away plates and silverware. Several times throughout the meal we had no place to put our food and noting to eat it with. We had to ask for plates and silverware each time. It was totally ridiculous and a bit insulting. There were plenty of empty tables but we had the distinct impression that they wanted us to leave. Also, several times, the back waiter came with the food, set up his little table, then went back to the kitchen with the food without serving us. This was very very strange.
Great sevice, great food and perfect location. Our waiter was great
Saturday brunch was fantastic! The live Latin band was so awesome, ambiance was so fun! Food was delicious and service was spot on. I hope they do the live music every week cause I will definitely be back.
Great food selection & atmosphere. You will spend a pretty penny hut it's worth it!
I love sitting on the patio for the Sangria Saturday Brunch. Last Saturday was no exception. The weather was great, I love the tapas style offerings and I especially love the Frose cocktails! Freddy, our waiter was the absolute best. Our plates and glasses were never empty. If you’ve never visited this establishment, now is the time! It doesn’t disappoint.
Robert from France was amazing. He made me and my mother's day very special. Thank you
Lovely place , beautiful environment, love the music. Great food.
Came here on a Friday night and were able to choose to sit outside. Great atmosphere outside with the exception of the boats on the waterfront partying to loud dance music with club lights. Our server was excellent, as were the oysters and shrimp and scallops risotto. Everything was very fresh and well done with a great drink selection and extensive wine list.
Service was terrible. Our server was absent a majority of meal. Brought out incorrect food several times, then attempted to charge us. Had to ask to order drinks, never even offered another round. Zero cocktail introduction. Just overall extremely disappointing, for a place I had heard so many good things about. Provided the price point we were thoroughly disappointed.
Emmie was awesome. Took great care of us. We had a great time!!
Beautiful restaurant to go to for sunset. Beautiful scenery inside and out. Bug or bird machines came on very five minutes which was a bit loud. Plus, skeeters came when the sun had set and a mouse had scurried by the bushes. Our waiter Anthony was very friendly. I chose this restaurant for the ambiance and Cotton candy martini (which they were out of which made me disappointed right off the bat). All in all my friends and I enjoyed the food and drinks. I would probably go back during the day for lunch next time instead and maybe sit inside.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our food and service while dining with us! However, I am sorry that your beautiful view was tarnished by the surrounding wild life. Being so close to the water, we do experience the best and worst of mother nature. While I can assure you we do not have a bug machine, there are quite a few cicadas in the DC area. We hope to see you again soon!
50th Anniversary! Good food, good service (very pleasant and helpful!) Spectacular View of Potomac River!
Beautiful, grwt food, Server Rebecca was great. I loved the food. The desert menu coukd use some updates. The deserts are nit as good as tge entree's.
The food was outstanding! The service was extremely terrible. Would not recommend taking a group of people.
The Sequoia is my absolute favorite place for Sunday Brunch. It it's not too humid, sitting outside near the water, makes for a perfect outing. I take all of my out-of-town visitors to the Sequoia. They all love love love it. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. I can't decide which dish I like the best. Love the made-to-order omelets with crab meat, the freshly prepared crab cakes and the bloody mary bar!
The food was amazing as always, but the service was outstanding. Kudos to our waiter, who was very attentive and even inquired as to if we had a birthday among our party. It happened to be my mother's birthday and he brought out a treat for her. Excellent service!
This is a great Sunday brunch! Great location, incredible food, attentive staff, wow! An incredible selection of foods, typical breakfast foods, crab legs, oysters, clams, shrimp, sushi, paella, pasta station, smoked fish, bloody mary's, mimosas, waffle station, taco station, crab cakes and the desserts!! at least 15 different desserts, all delicious, but you have to try the burnt cream---too die for!
My wife’s birthday.
Service was great as usual along with the food. This is one of our favorite brunch spots.
We attended brunch last Sunday, 8/11/19, and had a great time. This is as good as brunch gets in DC, but understand that you'll pay for it: the food, the service, and the view are unbeatable.
The brunch offerings are in a large room with multiple stations: poke, sushi, seafood (shellfish, shrimp, crablegs, ceviche), carving (prime rib), salad, chartucherie or however that is spelled, breads, meats, etc. Drinks are included: mimosas, bellinis, and a bloody mary station as well. Various juices and coffee also come with the meal. The desert stations are incredible: chocolate fountain and cotton candy stations among others.
The new renovations create a crisp, clean 2 story setting. Lots of stairs involved in getting around though from the dining to the brunch bars to the bathrooms. The overhanging lights I think are artsy, not my style but I get it.
The view is unreal, right on the Potomac in Georgetown looking down to Watergate, the Kennedy Center, and Memorial Bridge. We had a sunny, calm Sunday and the river was active with boaters, paddleboarders, and kayakers.
The service was very attentive until about 1200 when the place filled up. At that point, there was a crowd but we could still get what we needed from the server team.
We saw locals and tourists, and dress varied from super casual to the post-church crowd. Amazing how many people spend that amount of money for brunch. It was a treat for us and I'm sure for others. We're fortunate to be able to enjoy it all, and plan to visit again in the future.
I was traveling with my 13 year old daughter and wanted to have a nice dinner in Georgetown on the water. I chose Sequoia because the menu had enough dishes that were less complicated that I was sure she’d find something familiar. Our server Patrick was fantastic. The calamari was excellent. My daughter thought the crab cakes were the best she’d ever had. I got the clam bake. It was ok. The lobster was burned and dry, as were the muscles. But the broth and clams and vegetables were outstanding. The view was wonderful, but the noise from the boats playing music did interfere somewhat with the splendor of the evening (we sat outside). I would definitely return to Sequoia, but I’d sit on the southern side of the terrace away from the central fountain... and I wouldn’t order the clam bake.
Great view and ambient. Highly recommendable for friends and couples; but also for family with children. Really an all-people place. I love the River view .
Service was amazing. Our server, Rebecca, made the experience even better! She had impeccable knowledge of the menu. As a military family, we don’t get the opportunity to have many date nights, with just the hubby and I. We enjoyed every moment, and the food was outstanding. This will not be our last visit.
Dining experience at Sequoia was absolutely phenomenal. The food was great, the view was great, the waiter was absolutely great, friendly and attentive. Overall dining was great
Mother-daughter dinner before the show!
Had a great time. Our server Ellie was fantastic and the view was great on the patio
First Rebecca was our waitress and she was fantastic. Grey Goose martinis for starters, expertly prepared. Appetizer was pate on toast and my date and I share and excellent salad. She had the pot of clams that contained mussels, shrimp, lobster, clams and other delectable seafood...it was cooked to perfection and in and excellent broth. I had the crab-cakes which were full of meat, minimal filler, expertly seasoned and French fries. Cognac and espresso topped off a perfect evening!
Great place for team event with wonderful service. The food is generally good but my risotto was a little salty.
Great outdoor patio, good food, poor service. Although we enjoyed the food when it came and timed it perfectly for a great sunset, it seemed as though we had annoyed our waiter who avoided us the whole time.
upscale, quiet, delicious restaurant. We stopped in before a show at the Kennedy center and it was perfect!
First time trying the lunch menu here. They had a good variety from nice summer salads to sandwiches and some heavier entrees. I had the shrimp cocktail as my starter and lobster roll for main. Shrimp cocktail was nice and fresh but the lobster roll could have used more lobster meat...maybe another side besides fries. Didn’t feel like the value was there. However the service was impeccable. Even it was a quiet lunch, servers were always there at the right moment. We had a few different gentlemen servers but all were great and worked well as a team. Overall, it was a good experience.
