Great marriage of traditional and modern elements in Japanese cuisine. Definitely not fusion. Chirashi highly recommended. Excellent, attentive service.

Great food, ambiance, service, lots of variety in the menu. The omakase may not be great if you are vegetarian; there was a wagyu beef roll that came out unexpectedly, but you should tell them if you do not eat meat when they ask about dietary restrictions.

The range of dishes is wider than at most NYC Japanese restaurants, with interesting combinations of custards, access, gelees and fish, both raw and cooked with pristine vegetable.s Sake selection is of higher quality and lower prices than most in NYC- more like in Japan where sake is prices reasonably rather than being a ripoff.
Servers are charming an knowledgeable. Nose level relatively low, with no background music- Thank you!!

Small place, but food is amazing. Very fresh sashimi and sushi, and a great selections of both authentic and creative Japanese dishes. Pricey but worth the money.

Absolutely worth it. Many restaurants have difficulty maintaining consist quality throughout their menu, but Senya does it perfectly. The individual sushi is prepared meticulously and seems to be engineered for maximum impact, which is almost a necessity given the steep price. The entrees were especially good in value, at just 20 per entree; yet, they still managed to impress. Finally, while the dessert may not be traditional Japanese, it is a wonderful finish to a delicious meal with the New York twist on traditional dessert. Overall, one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.

This is the second time I go to Senya. Chirashi bowl is my favorite. Everything is fresh and well prepared. Beautifully presented with the wooden bowl. I also love their appetizer. Tofu is soft and the tempura shrimp is so tasty. I will definitely go there again with my friends.

I wouldn't come back for this place - perhaps I had too high expectations being a sushi restaurant. The music was off - it was playing top 40 and EDM. Service was extremely slow - for a slow night we waited around 1h for food.

Food was quite decent, but similar to a $20 sushi place.

Great Yuzu hamachi roll. Probably my fav in the city with good value. Also love their rock shrimp appetizer and complementary daikon! The wait staff is so nice too, which is a plus.

Sushi and sashimi in Senya is abosulutly delicious and all the ingredients are so fresh. The Uni impressed me! And the waiters will introduce you every single piece of sushi and where the ingredients come from. Very fascinating experience.

We came here on a Saturday night. Late reservation = late dining time. We were a group of 3, and each of us ordered a sushi/sashimi omakase. Reasonably priced compared to most other Japanese restaurants in the city. We bookended our meal with shishito peppers and a trove of green-tea based desserts (on the house due to the long wait time for our entrees). Given the attentive service, the good value for money, and the sheer amazingness and quality of the food, this was easily one of the best meals I've had in New York City.

I ordered Crab Salad, Filet Mignon and Chirashi Zushi. Crab salad was okay. For Filet Mignon, meat was tender and nice but the sauce was too sweet. If I had known that I would have asked to put the sauce on the side. For Chirash Zushi, salmon roe and fluke were very good but eel was way hard and dry and they put a slice of lemon between yellow tail and tuna (it never happens in good quality Japanese restaurant.) They also sprinkled Hurikake on top of rice. Unfortunately it was quite a disaster. Wait staff were nice.
