Took a while to get seated despite having a reservation. Food was good, the restaurant is beautiful.
An off night I guess, but hadn't been here in quite a while so took two friends. Two of us had the lamb burger, which we both thought was awful (the ground lamb was so overworked, the lamb patty was a dense, unpalatable ball). The fries were superb. The third in our party had the salmon, which she thought tasted good but was oily.
Great service and good food...please bring back traditional falafel!
The lamb burger and fries were to die for. I will definitely go back again when I'm in SF.
I was disappointed that the menu has gotten smaller since the renovation, otherwise it was good.
We have been here many times before, but were not made aware of the "soft menu" change as it was not posted or made aware to us via the website or host. Service was slow, hostess didn't even ask if we wanted water or drinks until 15minutes after we sat down. The food dishes were so salty, you took off all of the good items (menu did not need to be change so not sure why that was), olives, grilled octopus was not on lunch menu as that was the main reason for coming. It was brought to our attention by our waitress that you are trying to go with more Italian dishes, but forgive me if I am wrong, but aren't you a Mediterranean style restaurant lol? Seems so odd that you would change such a good thing that has been there for years. Doubtful I will come back to your restaurant.
New menu is very interesting and tasty. we enjoyed the selections and recommend sharing to get the benefit of all the dishes and flavors.
Thought we would give this restaurant a try after several recommendations. It was loud when we arrived at 6:15 on a Saturday evening, as there was a wedding reception being held. Nevertheless, we asked to be seated as far from the area as possible. View of the ferry building is great! Menu has changed recently, so we decided to try the salmon and the steak. Both were good. We also got the crispy kale as an appetizer, which was delicious, and the chocolate almond cake for dessert. Also very good. All in all, four stars.
Sens was one of our favorites! The move from Mediterranean to Italian was an unfortunate one. The new food options are limited. Even the waitstaff rolled their eyes and confided the new direction was confusing. At a table for six, one entree didn’t arrive until five others were eaten. What a mess. We are mourning the loss of a favorite lunch spot!
The new menu sucks. Not good for lunch anymore at all. Won’t be coming back to eat.
Big menu change. It’s ok but not what I came here for
I was really disappointed to see that the menu changed here. I’ve always counted on this place for business lunches because I enjoyed the fact that they had 2 to 3 salads with the option to add chicken or shrimp. That is now gone. The menu is way too heavy for lunch. There is one salad on the menu and if you ask they will add chicken or salmon. The salad was tasty enough but I don’t like having only 1 options. I also miss the tasty chicken lavash wrap.
To the restaurant, you need to know that people don’t like to eat pasta and pizza at lunch. I will need to find A new business lunch spot if you don’t add more salads with a protein option back to the menu. Sorry.
THe menu is very limited now. Please bring back the old lunch menu. There are not enough options now and miss what the place used to do best.
I used to take colleagues here at least once a week. I won’t do this anymore because I do not like the menu. I found it uninspiring and boring. How un-creative is pizza with salumi and sriracha? Very! A bowl of all fried foods including halibut and veggies-dull and tasteless. I work in the building and guess I’ll be taking folks to Osha. I’ve been there twice since the re-opening and don’t understand why they changed the menu. The only edible food was the dessert but even that used to be so much better (saffron pound cake with poached pears vs. chocolate cake, really?). Sens should go back to its Mediterranean roots as whatever this new menu is, does not seem successful.
It is not the old Sens since the reopening! No water offered while one diner waited 15 minutes at table, shortened menu very overpriced with only high-cost entrees, $13 "house" wine like jug wine, slow service. Perhaps it will get better with time.
The location, view and restaurant ambiance are wonderful and our server was good and attentive. However the restaurant apparently changed lunch menus from those posted on the website about a month ago but they haven't updated their website. The limited new menu is nothing like the website both in selection and price. The food was subpar. The chicken in the entrée ordered by my guests appeared to be pressed chicken meat cut into chunk strips with no seasoning. Both guests said the entire entrée was bland. The "dungeness crab salad" served with my chilled corn chowder (which was good) was a clump of crab with sprigs of what tasted like watercress, not even close to a salad. The menu was limited and overpriced and despite the ambiance, I will not dine there again. Very disappointing.
I am a regular here (at least once a week). I have business lunches and dinners here frequently and my company also has had many private events here for big promotions and retirements. After the remodel I brought business associates for lunch, not knowing about the new "menu." We sat down and then proceeded to wait 15 for WATER. All the while, the 2 vegans in our group looked at the restrictive menu with alarm; thinking "is this it?!" I was also shocked at the restrictive, confusing and more expensive menu (at least by 20%). After 20 minutes of waiting (we finally had some water but no server yet) we decided to leave. We were able to make a reservation at Kokkari and had a fantastic lunch. No one cared that we left, the whole experience was very disappointing. I totally understand that SF restaurants need to refresh sometimes to gain new market share/revive the business. However, I am super sad about this change and I will miss the old Sens.
Best thing about Sens is the view and the ambiance. Wait staff is attentive. This time the chicken salad was light on the amount of chicken — and they serve no bread with the meal — so I left hungry. But all and all a pleasant place.
Food and serihave always been excellent Great view too
Food was wonderful and the view was amazing
Great food and restaurant.
Always good to hangout here. It gets busy during dinner time. There is a quiet room and lively ambiance option where all the crowds are.
Service was attentive and first rate. The menu contained something of interest for everyone. The specials were enticing as well. Our food was well prepared and promptly presented. It was a beautiful day and a memorable lunch for old friends.
A favorite place with a creative menu and
Accommodation was great, lovely table with a view however the service was sub par. The server was absent minded and frazzled and our food / courses were so spaced out we even wondered if we were still ordering food.
Service was GREAT.
I love the Fatoush salad.
my friend had the ceasar salad - made with frizze(sp) lettuce - a little strange
wonderful complementary cake with candle for birthday desert.
Sens is a nice find in the FiDi. Great outdoor spaces to enjoy and the food was terrific. A definite keeper!
We had a nice experience. Views were lovely, service was attentive, and food was very good.
Service was superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
A bit noisy for a business lunch, but good ambience.
Really Good food. Atmosphere beautiful and conducive to business discussion. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Porchettq sandwich had too much mustard on it. Service was slow. Usually the restaurant is on point.
Great location, amazing atmosphere.
It's not often I spend $80 for lunch on a Tuesday. However, it was my husband's birthday and a special occasion. While hostesses made a comment to each other about a birthday at the table, there was no recognition from our server. I'm not expecting anything for free, but an acknowledgment would be nice when we're paying a high price for a casual lunch.
We went to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. They took excellent care of us and the whole experience was outstanding. The view and ambience are hard to beat.
Fabulous as always, however, my favorite dish- the fattoush with chicken breast, has been ruined!! The salad was soggy, and the beautiful huge white chicken breast is no longer! Instead the side of the salad dish was piled with tons of ugly chopped dark meat! Really a let down, as this is the dish I specifically come here for. Also, the spread dish is now reduced to two spreads instead of 3, and not enough bread, had to ask for more. Too bad. Will still come for ambiance and beautiful bar, but really sad about the salad!!
Fatoosh salad was particularly good & generous. 3 of us included add one (chicken, shrimp, falafel). Made for a great meal. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, & professional. Quiet enough that we could conduct business. Will definitely return.
Solid. Love the fattoush
Interesting menu and very good food.
Sens was quiet, but we were there at 2:30 pm - just after the lunch crowd, and before the bustling cocktail crowd (we returned at 6 pm for drink on the fabulous outdoor patio - what a crowd!). Elias our server was outstanding - thank you for your suggestions and bringing us additional spices that you thought would complement our meal. Food was fresh, wonderfully seasoned, and hit the spot after a very long day of traveling. Wish we were closer so that we could return more often!
