Excellent food, comfortable, upbeat environment
Very good experience, food and service was excellent.
My wife and I came on a Saturday, which turned out to be a very quiet time and enjoyable. Service was good and attentive and the food was also delicious.
The food and drinks at Sens were amazing, the view is incredible, however the service was awful. Our server was inattentive, rude, and arrogant. I would have expected the kind of treatment we received from a fast food chain, not an upscale restaurant.
Octopus appetizer is terrific. Lamb burger is one of the best burgers I’ve had.
Waited 45 minutes after ordering for a salad. Understaffed but the food was decent.
This place has a great menu, good service and good for big groups.
My work group has made it a habit of frequenting Sens for our birthday lunches. The pita/hummus appetizer and fattoush are my favs and are delicious. Friends enjoy the lamb burger and paella. Specialty drinks never fail as well. The wait staff is very attentive and can't do enough for you. All this paired with waterfront views of the ferry building make for a lovely dining experience! Thus the repeat customers!
My second time here. We are here for a party so we couldn't sit at the bar hence no happy hour menu for us. Our waiter is great, he offered me a new medium lamb burger when I didn't know my burger was cooked medium rare. The value isn't that great. Food portion is small for 7 of us and the cost was >$50 per person.
The wine menu is great, food is so-so, desert was super! Overall I think this place is slightly expensive, but I can understand the location is expensive.
The food and service was excellent.
The waitress seemed to want to rush us after we waited past our reservation time. She didn’t listen well and got our drinks wrong. The main meal was so so. Not what we expected as we have had better experiences at Sens.
We stopped in for a bite before the movies. I had the lamb burger, which was okay, and my friend had the burrata salad, which was very good. Wine was overpriced. View was great of the Ferry building. Restaurant was spacious and decor was nice.
Wonderful salad! Was packed at 12 - recommend reservations.
Great food and setting. We will be back!
Try the lamb burger! Best I’ve ever had. Also the service is great and they make you feel like a welcome guest.
We ordered the salad, lamb burger, and salmon. The salad was excellent. The lamb burger was bland and the fries were overpowered with rosemary. The salmon was a small portion, the grey tasting bloodline was left on it which detracted from the flavor, it wasn't seasoned well, and the vegetables accompanying it tasted like they were not fresh and were previously frozen. Overall, just average at best and poor when considering the price/value. Unfortunate for good serviced, ambiance, and view.
Great food. Too much attitude behind the bar.
We came here for a friend's birthday dinner and it was good, I would recommend the gnocchi and the rib eye, the salmon was so small and the rice was okay, the appetizers were good, we got the shrimp which were kind of small but ok.
Business lunch. Food was very good. Octopus was best I have had in a while and hummus lived up to the higher expectations one would have for a Mediterranean restaurant. Support wait staff were on the spot and attentive. Food was served promptly and well presented. All good. Would definitely go back and take others.
Had a business lunch here. The food was delicious, our waiter was very friendly and the view was great.
Love Sens! Always a great experience.
The view and atmosphere in the main room are great if you are looking for a casual restaurant by the water that is open to the outside. Food was very disappointing. My kale appetizer was loaded with salt and oil and was basically inedible.
The Cesar salad was okay but bland. My companion’s food wasn’t any better. After hearing rave reviews from co- workers this was a big disappointment.
The acoustics are horrific- we were seated at a four top, and it was nearly impossible to have a conversation.
"Energetic" is not how I'd describe it. I've been to quieter rock concerts.
We did like How the manager Irving came to our table
Personally and asked how everything was and to congratulate us on our wedding anniversary
The food was unique from the appetizer to the dessert
Why won’t you let vegetarians order from the full menu in the dining room? Makes no sense.
Took a while to get seated despite having a reservation. Food was good, the restaurant is beautiful.
An off night I guess, but hadn't been here in quite a while so took two friends. Two of us had the lamb burger, which we both thought was awful (the ground lamb was so overworked, the lamb patty was a dense, unpalatable ball). The fries were superb. The third in our party had the salmon, which she thought tasted good but was oily.
Great service and good food...please bring back traditional falafel!
The lamb burger and fries were to die for. I will definitely go back again when I'm in SF.
I was disappointed that the menu has gotten smaller since the renovation, otherwise it was good.
We have been here many times before, but were not made aware of the "soft menu" change as it was not posted or made aware to us via the website or host. Service was slow, hostess didn't even ask if we wanted water or drinks until 15minutes after we sat down. The food dishes were so salty, you took off all of the good items (menu did not need to be change so not sure why that was), olives, grilled octopus was not on lunch menu as that was the main reason for coming. It was brought to our attention by our waitress that you are trying to go with more Italian dishes, but forgive me if I am wrong, but aren't you a Mediterranean style restaurant lol? Seems so odd that you would change such a good thing that has been there for years. Doubtful I will come back to your restaurant.
New menu is very interesting and tasty. we enjoyed the selections and recommend sharing to get the benefit of all the dishes and flavors.
Thought we would give this restaurant a try after several recommendations. It was loud when we arrived at 6:15 on a Saturday evening, as there was a wedding reception being held. Nevertheless, we asked to be seated as far from the area as possible. View of the ferry building is great! Menu has changed recently, so we decided to try the salmon and the steak. Both were good. We also got the crispy kale as an appetizer, which was delicious, and the chocolate almond cake for dessert. Also very good. All in all, four stars.
Sens was one of our favorites! The move from Mediterranean to Italian was an unfortunate one. The new food options are limited. Even the waitstaff rolled their eyes and confided the new direction was confusing. At a table for six, one entree didn’t arrive until five others were eaten. What a mess. We are mourning the loss of a favorite lunch spot!
The new menu sucks. Not good for lunch anymore at all. Won’t be coming back to eat.
Big menu change. It’s ok but not what I came here for
I was really disappointed to see that the menu changed here. I’ve always counted on this place for business lunches because I enjoyed the fact that they had 2 to 3 salads with the option to add chicken or shrimp. That is now gone. The menu is way too heavy for lunch. There is one salad on the menu and if you ask they will add chicken or salmon. The salad was tasty enough but I don’t like having only 1 options. I also miss the tasty chicken lavash wrap.
To the restaurant, you need to know that people don’t like to eat pasta and pizza at lunch. I will need to find A new business lunch spot if you don’t add more salads with a protein option back to the menu. Sorry.
Went here about 2 months ago. The main drawing factor is certainly the view as it overlooks the Bay Bridge, Ferry Building, and Embarcadero. Even though it was a Friday evening it wasn't overly busy and the host was able to sit us indoors by the windows. We ordered a few smaller dishes to share. Since this was a few months ago now I don't recall the specifics but remember not being overall impressed by the food and actually disappointed in one dish based on how it was described on the menu and how it tasted in actuality. My biggest complaint was actually the lighting because it was so dark and we only had one small table candle and it was a challenge to even read the menu. I'd been here once before about a year prior for a birthday and we all sat at the high tables by the bar and I recall that being a better experience. I would go back but it has some room for improvement.
THe menu is very limited now. Please bring back the old lunch menu. There are not enough options now and miss what the place used to do best.
I used to take colleagues here at least once a week. I won’t do this anymore because I do not like the menu. I found it uninspiring and boring. How un-creative is pizza with salumi and sriracha? Very! A bowl of all fried foods including halibut and veggies-dull and tasteless. I work in the building and guess I’ll be taking folks to Osha. I’ve been there twice since the re-opening and don’t understand why they changed the menu. The only edible food was the dessert but even that used to be so much better (saffron pound cake with poached pears vs. chocolate cake, really?). Sens should go back to its Mediterranean roots as whatever this new menu is, does not seem successful.
