Selva Grill Ratings and Reviews
As always the food was excellent and service was impeccable. Our table was available at the exact time of our reservation and the entire staff was very focused on our needs. Our fish dishes, salmon and swordfish were top notch. One of the best restaurants in Sarasota and for that matter many other cities as well.
We had a slight problem and the response was truly exemplary. Our server and the manager could not have been more responsive and accommodating in their apology and attempt to make us feel important and valued. Quality and service are excellent. Highly recommend!
Fabulous, authentic Peruvian food--very creative offerings. Entrees were pricey but, also enormous. We could probably have shared but we didn't know that ahead of time. I have eaten paella all over the world and never had one like this--it was exceptional! All of the seafood was perfectly prepared--nothing was overcooked and all of the flavors blended together into an extraordinary taste sensation. Our waiter was quite attentive and mindful of our need to be at the Opera in a timely manner. In fact, it was apparent that there were many other early diners who were headed to the Opening Night of the Opera season and that the restaurant staff and the chef were well prepared for the onslaught--well done!
The Cesar salad is different and very good, but should have been chilled. The flavor was a little bland due to the room temperature of the dish.
Tuna and watermelon ceviche was outstanding, but the Mahi citrus ceviche was bland, as was the bouillabaisse. My dining partners very much liked the Ahi tuna and the scallops.
Overall, top price for mixed fare and extremely loud.
Food was excellent except skirt steak was only OK. Noise level was the worst I’ve ever experienced, even compared to previous 3 times at Selva Grill. Was it the table location (just to the right and behind the reservation podium)? It came close to ruining the evening. Even still, our guests left happy.
The artistic, trendy (and interestingly romantic) atmosphere is just the beginning. If you are looking for a dining adventure, Selva Grill should be your destination. We loved the various ceviches as appetizers, and then enjoyed wonderful selections from an array of seafood and unique entre`s. This is a great place for foodies.
Vibrant, bright flavors throughout the menu. The six of us enjoyed sitting outside on a cool night (with plenty of warm heaters around!) and we even had 2 dogs with us and they were treated well by the waitstaff. Great drinks, atmosphere and everyone enjoyed their meals! Try anything with Chimmichurri.....!
Food and service are always very good here. It was a special occasion and we brought our own wine from a boutique winery in Napa. The last time we were here for a birthday they waived the corkage fee on one bottle. This time we got charged the corkage on both bottles. We come here all the time so I had expected at least a comp on one bottle since we spent so much on the food. Oh well.... I guess it depends on your server.
Loved the restaurant on our first visit to Sarasota and hope to return. All the dishes were great; server was very helpful in making our choices. Unusual combinations of flavors. Scallops and salmon were incredible. Also loved patio seating on cool night with heaters nearby. This was our favorite restaurant out of many excellent ones.
Attractive, well-located restaurant, with excellent food. After 10 p.m., there's a smaller menu for after-theater dining--when it's also considerably quieter. Good cocktails, too. Altogether, this place should definitely be on your list if good food matters to you.
