Selkirk Grille - Heritage Park Historical Village Ratings and Reviews
Very good beef tenderloin, but waiter was very busy, so had no time to check to see if we needed anything. I had to grab him how stupid by to get some horseradish, and we are also not served bread with our mail. Beautiful place rather crowded and the table for two was quite small.
I would come back just because the food was so good. But more stuff is needed to look after that many people.
What a treat! Hard to find a restaurant that has it all! Great customer service , fabulous atmosphere, and great food! Well, we did! We decided to go early, 4 o'clock, after reserving, the restaurant called to see if we were ok with a lunch menu, which is more limited in choices. We were all fine with that. We were greeted by Rudy, who looked after us all for the rest of our meal. He was such a pleasure, and was very knowledgable about the menu items. The charcuterie tray was all local meats, cheeses and pates', the burger outstanding, and the wings certainly was a generous helping and very tasty. Since we had a very pregnant relative with us, Rudy made us both virgin drinks. What I also appreciated, was the fact we could hear each other when we were conversing, and didn't have to yell to be heard. Some of the new restaurants are just too loud! What a pleasure! We will definitely be back for supper some time. Check out tues dinner and a movie, it looks like it would be great! Thanks again Rudy! We want you next time too! Did not know this place was even here two days ago!
We eat at the Selkirk Grille all the time. If we want to go out and have a nice meal, the Selkirk Grille is our number one spot. It is a great atmosphere, fantastic service, and the food is so good. We go back time and time again and will so for a long time to come.
We love eating here! This time I had the Bison Schnitzel and it was very good. It had a lovely mushroom and bacon cream sauce. Others in my party had the Elk Striploin and it was the softest most flavorful cut of meat they had ever had. It was cooked to perfection! The menu is always creative and the staff is always a pleasure. We will be back again.
Went for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday on Sunday, only to find out that brunch continues till 2 pm. Already had an early breakfast, but at that point to rush out (1 pm) to find a venue with a lunch menu wasn't worth it, so we picked the least breakfasty items on the menu.
A pity their website didn't warn us about the extended brunch. On the whole everything was okay, but $100.00 for breakfast is a little too much.
We booked here for my wife’s birthday brunch, and for the most part it was fairly disappointing. The restaurant is nice inside, but we were sat close to the front door and next to the bar vs some of the nicer parts of the room - a larger group at 10 of us, so it might have been necessary.
The server was quite abrupt and at times bordered on rude. Wouldn’t provide any insight on the dishes, and was condescending to anyone who asked a question. Several of our party remarked that he had decided not to put forth any effort given we had exceeded their mandatory gratuity party size.
The food was bland overall, especially the three of us that tried their meat hash. The children’s pancakes were over cooked, and 2 of the six were actually burnt.
Speaking of the kids, we had to request colouring and all they had to offer were old menus and crayons.
The place wasn’t busy, so there wasn’t an excuse for poor service and weakly delivered food. I wouldn’t recommend Selkirk after this experience, and it’s particularly disappointing given we were there to celebrate my wife’s birthday - a fact that I confirmed twice with staff ahead of time and yet there was no mention of it from the Selkirk at any point.
We went to Selkirk Grille for my Grandmother's 78th birthday brunch, as we had planned to visit Heritage Park for the day. Other members of my party enjoyed their menu choices more than I personally did, so everyone's different, but I was not very impressed with my meal. I ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with Poached Egg and found it underwhelming. The salad consisted of mainly romaine lettuce and a single poached egg. For the price ($14) I was expecting something along the lines of the Kale Caesar at Ten Foot Henry, or possibly even two poached eggs instead of just one? The restaurant was nearly empty so service was pretty good, but our server wasn't very friendly. Overall a lacklustre experience for the price, but my grandma had a fun time which is what really counts!
The day before our anniversary, I tried booking an outdoor table for our anniversary. I was told there were no outdoor tables available so I chose an indoor table. When we arrived, to my surprise, we were seated on the patio and immediately greeted with a glass of prosecco in honor of our anniversary! Our appetizers and entrees were amazing and dessert was great. Loved the outdoor music, and our server, Raphael, was incredible - very attentive and made fantastic recommendations for wine and entrees. We would definitely dine here again - incredible value for our dollar and delicious food.
We enjoyed an anniversary dinner on the patio so that we could take in the musical performance out front. The food was excellent as was the entertainment. The waitress was very friendly and helpful as were the other servers who assisted us. This was our first time at the Selkirk Grille and I wouldn't hesitate to come again and bring friends along as well.
went there for lunch. lunch menu and the lunch special were excellent and fairly priced. the servers/staff were very friendly and made us enjoy or dining experience even more..
great location, nicely laid out dining room. recommend it to everybody for lunch, dinner or brunch on Sundays
We requested a patio table on a Wednesday night. None available. Make reservations 3 or4 days in advance on a Wed when there are performances in the Band Stand. We were told we could have a table by the door. When we arrived we weren't allowed to sit by the door and given a table along the wall. The table by the door and another by a window remained unoccupied the whole time we ate dinner. I mentioned it to the server when leaving and told the party didn't show. REALLY?
Despite that annoyance, the food was served in a friendly professional manner. The crab cakes were hot and delicious and the salmon was perfectly cooked. Overall it was a very good experience.
We have eaten at the Selkirk many years for our Anniversary or other special occasions. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our time this year. The service was poor - we consider Selkirk to be a more upscale restaurant and instead the staff were yelling across the restaurant at each other, we waited a long time for our dessert, tea and cutlery. The food was very good and artistically presented but for the price it is very slim. We had hoped for a more romantic special evening but did not find this to be the case this year. A disappointing experience.
This was a very pleasant experience and loved the patio for a pleasant brunch. Service was attentive and our food came quickly. I had the Pork Belly Hash and my common had the Eggs Benedict.
Afterwards we walked around the Heritage Park and marveled at the new development.
It was a pleasant afternoon and brunch.
