I was slightly disappointed that there was no acknowledgement of my birthday, which was indicated in the reservation notes. However, the food was exceptional. Some of the best fish I’ve ever had.
Catherine and the bartender were knowledgeable and so hospitable. We live dining with you. The seafood is so fresh.
We didn’t know that when u make a reservation you don’t get a private table
As people who know how Cerviche should be served with corn and it was not. Next, my mussels did not come with the proper fork but more importantly no spoon! How does one enjoy the broth without one. Lastly our bill included a 20% gratitude for only two people. I do not agree. Overall, not convinced to go back based on prices and service.
Absolutely the best seafood dishes in Boston! I could go for more oysters right now.
No better seafood anywhere in Boston. None. Boston Magazine was right.
... and the Oysters!
The best seafood in Back Bay. They offer a somewhat limited menu but do everything well.
Simply incredibly overpriced. Some of the food is excellent (the octopus with roasted green tomatoes is a must), the rest is just ok but at this price range, you expect a lot more. Despite very good service and a nice ambiance, we will not go back
Friendly staff, great food, good ambiance what more do you want!
A really nice find in the Back Bay. My go-to before a BSO or Berklee event.
We went to Select for New Year's Eve. I will start with a positive -- the food was good.
I called quite a while prior to making our reservation to make sure you could order from the regular menu and I was assured you could -- we have one very fussy eater in the group and two with food restrictions/allergies so that was a must. We got there and there was a fixed menu of three courses, no choices, for $75! One diner got up and spoke to our phenomenal waitress, Elizabeth T., and she was able to have them make concessions for us. If she had not been able to we would have had to leave.
The fussy diner was able to get a steak. The price, with no additional courses, was $67, $15 more than what that steak costs on the regular menu, so a large upcharge. I was able to substitute two medium-sized shrimp for the raw tuna in the first course, and the other diner was able to get artic char as a substitution for the scallops in the next course. Both of those courses were quite small. The wine list was very small with not a cabernet on it.
The entree was branzino. The food was all very good, but the first two courses were meager and the entree was small but adequate. There was nothing else included in the $75 charge - no dessert, not even coffee.
I forgot to make a reservation for New Year's until fairly late and there were few restaurants that still had openings. Now I know why this one did.
Bottom line, not bad for a regular evening if you like the "no atmosphere" type of place, which is why I said I would recommend it. Seating was not particularly comfortable, but at least the noise was not overwhelming. Definitely not for a person with any walking disability - the rest rooms are a stairway down.
Wow. Amazing. Fresh. Our food was flawless. Octopus, bream and oysters some of best we have had. Great service.
Nothing special, over priced, crowded, and loud. Recommend either Legal Seafood or Island Creek Oyster Bar - both have a better atmosphere, higher quality oysters, and superior service. I don’t recommend.
This place is awesome. Our go to place in Boston. So much better than the tourist traps on Boylston.
Really lovely. Back room/porch was warm and initiate and service impeccable.
I love Select for both lunch and dinner, but the fact that it is open for lunch is a huge plus for taking clients out. Everyone there really cares about delivering a fantastic experience, and food and service are always top notch.
The warm lobster roll and crudo special were delicious.
From Andrew and Gina’s warm greetings and exquisite, spot on recommendations thru some of the freshest seafood anywhere, Select Oysters is in our Hall of Fame.
Fantastic place, food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended!
Food was phenomenal. Server left a bit to be desired. He did not earn the automatic 20% gratuity that the restaurant adds to the bill.
This is the best dinner our I have had in a very long time. Everyone in our party was delighted with their meal. The service was excellent.
We haven't been to this restaurant in a while......always thought it was absolutely fantastic for past meals.
We met friends from Maine for lunch and we were a bit disappointed. The halibut was slightly overcooked even tho the waiter assured us that it was always cooked just right. We had to ask for bread and the first time it was warm and the next time it was cold and stale. We wanted to sit and "visit" for a while and were disappointed that there is no dessert, coffee or tea available at all. Should have chosen somewhere else.
We also were "warned" that we would pay $25 for a no show. There were four other people in the restauarant while we were there.
The crew were amazingly friendly and helpful, providing their recommendations and patiently waiting for us to decide on what to order. Oysters were so fresh and delicious! Appetizers and entrees were really delicious too. Meal was on the pricier side, but certainly well worth it! Great experience, would definitely be back if we are back in town.
Wow, what a great addition to the Boston restaurant scene. Absolutely fresh and delicious fish and seafood in a gorgeous and romantic setting.
Service was top notch, food was delicious. The Persimmons sauce on the Hamachi crudo is one of the best sauces I have ever tasted!
Great food and service. People are packed in pretty tightly so it’s fairly loud but that’s just part of the ambiance here.
Amazing entrees, oysters are yummy, excellent wine list...really enjoy Select...
Sat at the bar, halibut and swordfish were wonderful!!!
Superb! The food is outstanding!
Oysters are amazing
Mussels are great
Four other dishes were just average
Came here for a birthday dinner. Really fresh selection of seafood. Great service. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Good but they rushed us which was super annoying and rude.
Fantastic staff!! Friendly, great guidance, so welcoming!!!
Best meal of our visit to Boston!!
Cozy ambiance great service and delicious fish. Enjoyed our evening very much.
Excellent cocktails, and delicious, healthy meals. Highly recommend it.
Incredible evening. Our server, Michelle was absolutely top-flight. Attentive and super knowledgeable about all things alcohol and food. Can not wait to return. Michelle even had a little birthday cake for our friend. So great!
The food was really fantastic! Plus the place was quiet.
Food was great. It's awful though you have to wait 30min while you actually have a reservation...
Everything is always perfect.
