Food was good but not outstanding. Very overpriced. Although it does have a great atmosphere and vibe.
Love this place. Great service and inventive food.
The octopus, sea bream and sword fish were all very good. The wines are rather expensive, but at the lower end the Bourgogne Pinot noire was quite nice.
I like the quality of the food and the service but it is becoming a little stale. The menu has not changed in years although they generally offer a couple of daily specials (one app and one entrée). For an expensive restaurant, one should expect a little more. Perhaps the owners have a short time horizon and are simply milking the (successful) formula.
Convenient location in Boston. Oysters were outstanding with a great selection. Dinner was great but the lobster salad was a major disappointment. Attentive service. Expensive but worth it!
Outstanding food and service! The best seafood ever!
Simply put, the team at Select Oyster nailed it. Every part of our experience for our party of 10 was fantastic.
Standout from the experience:
-The chef/owner himself greeted us, introduced some menu items, and check in on us frequently.
-Every bit of food we ordered was fantastic, the tuna tartare, oysters, and the hake dish on special were all exceptional.
-The Service was friendly and efficient from start to finish (which can be challenging for a large group)
-Our 8 guests, all from out of town, had a unique, fun, and memorable dining experience in Boston which was exactly what we were hoping for.
Excellent meal all around. We thought it odd that they did not serve dessert or coffee.
Great oysters, great food, great wine, great service and atmosphere.
Some of the freshest seafood I have ever tasted. Excellent service too. My only complaint is the excessive noise level, which seems to be par for the course these days.
Awesome food and service!
Excellent seafood in a fun, albeit bustling, atmosphere. No dessert, no coffee. Just "seafood and booze" as the waiter put it. Highly recommend.
I thought this restaurant was overpriced. While the fish was tasty, mine was cold when it arrived and needed to be returned. In addition, they do not serve coffee or dessert. Diners should know that they automatically charge 20 percent service fee.
Server was wonder. Food was great. Awesome!
Awesome as always!
As a party of 2 we were seated at the bar which was fine. Service was great as was the selection of oysters. The other raw/shellfish options were great - got the tuna crudo, hamachi and crab. Wine list was solid as well. No coffee or desserts, but the prudential mall is right across the street so you can grab something there to finish the night.
Fabulous food, ambience and staff
Always perfection. Food is some of the best anywhere!!!!
Great food and plentiful. Pricy. Don’t know why we got the far back table in the back room with no wiggle room and one chair facing the wall. Very, very loud in the back.
Service was incredible and I loved the environment there! Highly recommend
A lil pricey but food is always on point! A must whenever I visit Beantown!
Best fish and oysters I can remember. Fresh and perfectly prepared. The server was excellent with a great sense of dry humor.
As always - we’ll taken care of!
It was our first visit to Boston and this was the first restaurant we tried and Oyster Bar did not disappoint—it was amazing!! Delicious food, excellent service, and the perfectly crafted Old Fashion👌🏻 Andrew was our server, and he was fun, engaging and took excellent care of us! With SO many places to eat in this great city-we all want to come back here for more!
Great place! The food was delicious and fairly priced. The staff were really wonderful. Definitely will go back next time I am in Boston.
Everything was okay overall but the servers were definitely on the rude side and the food not nearly worth the price. We were not given a seat our reservation time, while several other parties were seated. After that, the food was of good quality but the presentation and flavor was lacking. Combine that with indifferent and rude service and you have quite the overrated establishment. Look elsewhere!
We had an excellent dinner of three small plates -- a crab salad that was actually crab-dominated; scallop ceviche; and an 18-piece selection of three types of oysters. All of it was first-rate. Not inexpensive, but we knew that going in. We ate at the bar on a Friday night, and reservations were necessary. This being early-to-bed Boston, the crowd thinned out considerably after 9:30 or so. Bottom line: highly recommended.
Great spot of those who like Oysters. Our server was very helpful and pointed out those he thought were the best including the oysters someone who had not tried raw oysters previously would enjoy.
He was on the market. We ordered a selection for the table and they were really good. Our novice liked them well enough to have 3 or 4.
The entrees were just as good. We had halibut, Swordfish and a lobster salad. The halibut and swordfish were cooked perfectly. The cuts were thick but the preparation did not dry them out. The lobster salad was good but the one negative was that the lobster was cut into tiny pieces that was almost lost in the lettuces and other greens.
The beer and wine we had was good and the pre-dinner cocktails ere expertly crafted.
The place is not large. We had a large table right in front.
Overall, Select Oyster is 5-star worthy. Nice ambiance. Great service and Outstanding seafood. And drink.
Everything was superb! Friendly service, a casual but classy atmosphere, and an interesting array of dishes. Presentation and flavors were both delivered well!
Friends had suggested for us to go to Select so we did. Sat in the back room felt like we were in the cellar. Noise level was off the charts. Food was good maybe too much sauce. The waitresses were nice and helpful but wasn’t enough for us to go back.
Extremely fresh fish, full of flavor. Service was excellent! Love the wine!
Excellent food and service. We had the Hemingway and it was terrific. Will definitely be back when we next visit Boston.
Food and Service were wonderful. Not conducive to a large group. Seating choices limited and very loud
Fresh, creative cuisine. Absolutely delicious! Will return again and again. Service was outstanding. Make a reservation to avoid lines!
The food was delicious, but incredibly overpriced for the quality. Also, when making a reservation, you will likely be seated at the bar. With each chair on the corner, and intimately close to your neighbors. The restaurant adds a 20% service charge regardless of size. Our $168 bill for 2 people was just not worth it.
Food was meh. Excellent waitress. Beautiful place. Needed to share a table with two other groups- which is fine if they weren’t yelling! Overall 4/5.
Small place matched by small menu. My waitress was artsy, condescending and not very interested in helping us. Left after appetizers. Oysters were extremely good, but very costly. I'm not opposed to paying high prices for food, but $40 - $50 per dozen oysters is hard to justify in my opinion.
Food was excellent and service prompt, possibly even a bit fast, as if they were eager to turn the table, and we did notice a continual stream of changing guests. We did not feel pressed or rushed, but there was little down time. The noise level was so high that I am unlikely to return. It was very difficult to hear one another across the table. Disappointing.
Great seafood. Do not get the steak!! Poorest cut I’ve ever seen. No reason with all the seafood.
