I took my wife to Selanne Steak Tavern to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, the service was exceptional. The ambiance was good. It was a little louder that I would have liked but not to the point of being obnoxious. We ordered the King Charles cut ( i think that was what it was called) 38 oz bone in steak for two. It was a good steak and the Bordelaise sauce was amazing. The brussel sprouts and mac & cheese were the best I have had. The servers were prompt without being intrusive. Although on the pricey side, I will go back for other special events. Highly recommend Selanne Steak Tavern

This is a great restaurant. Really nice decor, high quality food and professional servers. Note. The noise level was quiet as we were in the upstairs which is a small space with a few tables and it wasn't full. We'll go here again if we are in the area!

Once we were seated, dinner was very nice. However, the maître d’ and the reservation process left the distinct impression that the restaurant was doing me a favor allowing me to eat there. When I made the reservation, I asked that we not be seated in the bar area. My request was accommodated but only after a lengthy disclaimer that they could not promise this. Moreover, when we arrived at 6 PM instead of 6:30 PM, our reservation time, the maître d’ was going to make us wait even though the restaurant was not full. It was offputting and I will not be back anytime soon.

This restaurant has been on my radar for quite some time now and I'm so glad to have finally tried it. I'm a big fan of the restaurant's namesake (despite being a Kings fan) so was pleased to have a positive experience here. I love the atmosphere, decor and aesthetic. We were seated at a prime table at the window in the wine room and it felt much more intimate and cozy than the rest of the restaurant. Our server, whose name I wish I had grabbed, was awesome from start to finish. The bread we started off with was delicious. Then we had the following: lobster pot pie, kumamoto and fanny bay oysters, foie gras, and rib eye (I elected to have the bordelaise on the side, which I did not regret) with mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts for sides. We finished off our meal with some coffee and monkey bread dessert. Couldn't complain about a single bite.

As my husband and I were leaving, we noticed the cute patio area with Moroccan style lanterns and cozy fireplace. I'd love to have dinner there next time around. It's much quieter than dining inside.

This was undoubtedly a very decadent meal and not one to be enjoyed regularly if you're watching your waistline (or pocketbook), but it certainly was enjoyable in every aspect (ambiance, food, service). Mr. Selanne has a fine establishment here! My hope is that I'll be able to tell him so in person at his restaurant some day. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Such a nice place to celebrate a special occasion!!! Superb service, our waiter Miguel gave us his suggestions and everything was so good !
Will definitely come back and recommend this place to my family and friends!

Group of 4 for Valentine's Day. Had a Valentine's Day dinner menu, however all 4 diners would have to order from it. My wife had some recent dental work that would not justify choosing the Valentine menu, therefore we all had to choose from the regular menu which we did reluctantly. We saw a promotion that stated there would be a wine pairing offer, however we were told when we ordered dinner that the wine pairing was not available. My wife ordered the one pound lobster. What she got was about 12 oz of shell, about 1 oz of Ritz cracker filler and about 3 oz of lobster meat. For $50 it was very disappointing.
We had tried this restaurant 2 years ago on Valentine's Day and had a nice meal, but this year was not nearly as good. Sorry!

We're visiting from chicago - the land of steakhouses. And I must say, this is probably among top 3 favs. The scallops were incredible. Steak with champagne reduction sauce on side. Anything with champagne. And the Brussel sprouts were top notch as well. Loved the atmosphere. Staff was extremely friendly and not pushy. Let us take our time. I hope to be back next visit!!

Excellent restaurant, great ambiance. The food was wonderful and staff knowledgeable and attentive. Great place for casual drinks at the bar or a special evening at a romantic table. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Laguna Beach.

This is a wonderful restaurant right across from the Sand and Sea hotel in Laguna beach. Great location, historic house, delicious food and great service. I definitely recommend it. Much more sophisticated than a 'tavern'. Not just a steak house - they have fish too.

Fish entrees very good not great. Made the mistake of ordering seafood at a steak house. However, the scallop appetizer was delicious.
