This was our first time dining at Selannes and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend the beet ‘ravioli’ and scallops. The flat iron steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Our service was impeccable!

The location is quaint and we sat on the veranda. I don’t eat bread but my guest did and they had the most adorable fresh bread with three specialty butters, including a tapenade. They looked delectable. The oysters were fresh and delicious, the beet ravioli salad was phenomenal. We had the 45 dry aged bone in ribeye that was fantastic and the truffle butter and bordelaise was scrumptious. The Yukon mashed potatoes with Phoenician olive oil were so creamy and textured. Honestly, best mashed potatoes I have ever tasted in my life! The wild mushroom were amazing and the smokin old fashioned and spicy pear martini were spot on and very tasty! I would recommend this for any special event. If it’s a nice day, the veranda is delightful and fresh and open air. Miguel was a great waiter! Highly recommend! Great waitstaff!

the price in the last year have gone up more than expected. Exampe the skirt steak use to be in the 60's now it is up 20 dollars.

One of the best dinners we have enjoyed. Our server Vito was fantastic, the ambiance was perfect, and the food delicious. What a great spot; next time we are in the OC is a must “revisit”. Family from Suomi says hello. 🇫🇮

Went for dinner to celebrate birthday and daughters promotion. Seated promptly and immediately waited on. Ordered bread to start, which is a must because of the 3 dips. Waiter, Guillermo, walked us through the menu and made recommendations. We ordered a filet mignon and ribeye, along with Mac n cheese, carrots and mashed potatoes. Steak was requested cut, in order to facilitate sharing, which was great. Steak was as tender as butter. Chefs Kiss.

I loved the ambiance of this place as well as the service, however - for all I have heard about this place, I was a little disappointed in the food. I ordered the halibut and my husband ordered the steak... the halibut was definitely over cooked and tough and the ribeye did not have any flavor. I will probably try it again... just because I may have just come on an "off day" , but overall for the $ I spent I was underwhelmed.

We always enjoy the food and service at Selanne's Steak Tavern. Our team servers were friendly, attentive, and personable as always. We highly recommend the Crab and Corn Chowder, Pacific Diver Scallops, and generally any cut of beef. We had the Filets.

Usually Selannes is a 5 star but this visit was slightly off. The service was impeccable as always. Steak tartar and fresh oysters were perfect. Asparagus was undercooked and uneaten due to it. Wagu filet, although an excellent cut of beef, was more rare than medium rare for one of the orders. For the prices and reviews, we expect perfection, and usually it delivers. Not this time. Please don't get me wrong, we will return, we were just slightly disappointed this time.

Selanne's Steak Tavern is an excellent place. We attended on our wedding anniversary. We were treated like royalty. Our server, Mariano, was excellent. He anticipated our every need. We will continue to visit on our anniversary and certainly more often.

Made reservation 3 weeks in advance and explained it was a special occasion. Taken to the upstairs room and felt isolated from everyone else. Service was great, but my $90 steak was a dud. Overcooked more than server promised and 3/4 of the steak was fat and gristle that was uneatable. Baked potato was undercooked and hard. I expect a lot more from a high end steak house.

Service is outstanding! All the side dishes were excellent. Steak temperature/cook was spot-on. However, once again we were disappointed in the quality of the beef. The New York was tough and grisly. Rib Eye was just average. Not likely to return for a fifth visit. Will choose another premier steakhouse that has more consistent quality.

Our excellent server, Jay, took care of all our requests. We had a delicious and delightful anniversary dinner. Our steaks were done to perfection, the Cesar salad, baked potato and Carmel torte dessert were outstanding!

We ordered the 38oz chef signature LORD STANLEY CUT steak and it was quite literally the most fantastic steak I have ever eaten in my life. I have eaten quite a few steaks at various price points and levels of quality at numerous establishments over the years, and this one trumped them all. It was expensive, but definitely worth the price. It truly tasted like a $220 steak which is not the same that I can say for other steaks that I have ordered at a similar price point. There were so many deep and complex flavors packed into this one cut of perfectly seasoned meat. It was served with a light but rich and glistening darling downs aus, and compound butter for extra luxuriousness, that went perfectly together with a strong but not overwhelming punch of fresh thyme on top that left a lasting impression on the palette in between each bite, and hours after the meal as well. It was cooked to a perfect rare with a crusty sear that was presented evenly sliced with the massive bone on the side. The cocktails were fantastic, the mashed potatoes were velvety and luscious, and the corn and crab chowder was out of this world as well. It was incredibly smooth with a heavily extracted and concentrated corn flavor that could be smelled from across the restaurant. Selanne Steak Tavern used to be a home, so all of the dining areas are very intimate and welcoming. There are also some nice private areas if you are looking to have a more secluded dining experience, although to some it may feel a bit on the claustrophobic side. They also have every wine imaginable in house. We met executive chef Vincent Terusa as well. He is an incredible guy and a true master of his craft. We gave him our sincerest complements for the outstanding meal. It is a special occasion, once in a blue moon kind of place at the price point for me (since I will likely always be ordering the signature steak), but the price isn’t too steep for the other items on the menu. I will definitely be back without a doubt!

Our 2nd time at Selanne’s. Had a reservation at 5:00 pm. At first was directed to outside. I asked if we could sit inside. We went back to front desk. We were then seated at the smallest table in the library. No one else in the room. Felt isolated and demeaned. Dimitri was a great waiter, food was delicious! Ambiance was awful, sitting alone in that room. Will not be back. Sadly.
