Sel et Poivre Restaurant
Excellent traditional French food in a cozy atmosphere in a great location. Excellent service too!
The service was terrible. No waiter was assigned to us. We were told they don’t have stations. After at least half an hour I had to get up and track down a waiter. I’ve been there before and never encountered anything like this.
Dear Anon: Thank you for your review . we apologize for your experience. This review will help us reevaluate and improve for a better experience the next time. We do hope you give us an other try . Thank you Sel
Wonderful neighborhood stalwart with excellent food, super service and generous pours.
Sweet little neighborhood place near the Armory. Wide menu choices. Food good. Service a bit slow on drinks, but ok. A little pricey, but then it IS the East Side.
Soup that was cauliflower broth Mediocre salmon Tepid over cooked green beans Chose it as close to Armory No reason to return
The food here is excellent and it has an old school neighborhood vibe. Lots of regulars
This restaurant never disappoints. I am particularly fond of the liver and onions.
Wonderful family owned place.
Good food in a charming setting makes this place a favorite of ours. We especially like the Prix Fixe dinner.
We had a reservation for 6pm as we had theater tickets. When we arrived, there was no Maitre D' nor was there a bartender. People were lined up to get in - it's a small place. we found a waiter and explained we had a reservation and had some time constraints. We waited 15 minutes and decided to eat at tha bar. No tables were close to opening up. The food came out quickly however, and our meals were delicious. But it was disappointing to never get a table as I was with a friend I haven't seen for a long time and the bar noise made it difficult to talk. So would I recommend this restaurant- a maybe.
Its wonderful that this restaurant has maintained its standards...consistently providing excellent cuisine and great service at a fair price.
Our meal was quite disappointing. Not one of our party of four found our meal to be more than fair. The entrees were not well seasoned or particularly creative. We expected much more for the price.
I love the menu, with skate, veal kidneys and sweetbreads, and I love the ambience.
Excellent food and service. Quiet enough for conversations
great food, prompt service and charming restaurant
Sel et Poivre has been our long time place for special occasions as well as a simple romantic dinners with my husband and for get together meals with friends and family.
The food is consistently fantastic and the staff is amazingly attentive and friendly!
We will continue to go there for many more years to come😊
Quiet French bistro with standard fare--at least at lunchtime.
Sadly, one of a dying breed of small French bistros in Manhattan, Sel e Poivre provides a touch of Paris on the UES. The space is small and filled with neighbors who rely on a varied menu of French classics, pleasant service, and reasonable prices. All perfect when you're heading to the Park Avenue Armory for an event.
Had dinner before an evening performance at the Armory. Felt like we were in France. I had skate which was absolutely perfect. Only slight complaint the tart tartine was a little too mushiy.
High price, not worth
Our party totally enjoyed the evening . The food and service were outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant. We all commented on what a wonderful meal we had and the great service.
Excellent, reliable bistro French food.
Convenient neighborhood restaurant.
I can't understand the glowing reviews. Friendly service but average food -- basic bistro (which is often great) with B- execution.
This is a favorite of mine. I dine out lots, but when looking for a nice, relaxing, relatively quiet place, this is where I go!
And the trout is my favorite.
Just love this place. Excellent food, superb staff and fairly priced. Heavy pours. What else could anyone want?
not my first time. always a treat. wonderful value and terrific atmosphere.
Lovely setting, great service and terrific food. Sel et Poive is a little gem!
Best French Bistro in neighborhood. Service is attentive and pleasant
The service and ambiance made up for what the food lacked. Three for dinner and two ordered from fixed price meals. The vegetable soup was ok as was the pate. The salmon and the skate was good but the roast chicken was beyond dry and should have been sent back. Dessert was sorbet and ice cream.
Always a pleasure to go back to Sel et Poivre, home away from home. Excellent food ,great drinks, lovely authentic ambiance. Wonderful service.
Great French bistro food with a decent wine list. Nice place for an afternoon or rainy day.
Great restaurant! Good food and lively crowd. Fair prices. Staff friendly and helpful.
Delicious game menu!
An old stand by for a certain older Upper East side crowd. Prices have crept up a bit, though the price fix is still an attractive value, our food was good, service was confusing. We had 4 different servers, so never really clear who our waiter was. But an enjoyable evening overall.
excellent restaurant for relaxing, dating or even going with friends
This restaurant good for all occasions. It is a solid go to place for great bistro French cooking
My daughter was in town for a few days so we went for February Game Menu, absolutely delicious. The Osso Buoco was amazing and the deer medallions delicious. We enjoyed everything we had.
Quiet, charming little French bistro with a prix fixe lunch menu at $17.95 - great value!
This is a delightful bistro with really good food, pleasant service and an ambience the that allows calm conversation.
It also has 50% All wine on mondays which makes for a great $ deal.
