Everything is delicious and old French school. We had fish soup and French onion soup, both as good as it gets. Cassoulet was huge abd well prepared. The crepes with chocolate are to die for. Sevice perfect and seating very comfortable. What else can you say!

We were there early (before a 7:00 performance at the Armory ) so can’t evaluate noise level during regular evening dinner. But the food was delicious, service professional, menu varied and reasonable prices

Nice cozy neighborhood place. Service was spotty until the restaurant cleared out a bit. Wonderful Fois Gras terrine and Venison. Huge portions, big enough to share. Profitoroles for dessert were stale.

Yesterday - Saturday - I dined TWICE at Sel et Poivre. At lunch I was joined by two good friends of long-standing, while at dinner my wife and I and another close friend enjoyed a pleasant evening. The fare at lunch included skate wings, Tarte Royale, and an omelette. For dinner we had cold poached salmon, liver with onions and medallions of venison. If you like profiteroles, come here to have them. Both the pastry and the chocolate sauce are addictive. The staff is first rate and the ambiance is French. Vintage photographs taken in Paris and in other French towns adorn the walls. Sel et Poivre is THE best bistro in NYC.

Sel et Poivre, my favorite NYC bistro, has retained a strong following. On Valentine's night, there were customers waiting for tables. Thereafter, the restaurant has been extremely well attended. Sel et Poivre has all the characteristics of a superior French bistro, especially the old world style in which vintage photographs of Paris and France line the walls. The staff is excellent - accommodating, cordial, helpful and professional. Last night I had a French classic - kidneys in mustard sauce - not every one's idea of gourmet fare but available at Sel et Poivre. My wife had superb cold salmon. Our friends shared a good and well-seasoned steak cooked to perfection. There are specials every night such as coq au vin. Book now. What is better than profiteroles doe dessert?
