Loved the combinations of flavors and the fish was fresh and delicious. We look forward to going back! Service was friendly and knowledgeable as well.
High-quality ingredients and many you won’t find at most izakaya/sushi bars. A very diverse menu with many surprises. Some of the best sushi I’ve had on the peninsula. Nice dark ambiance.
We had the most wonderful meal at Seiya. We had the Omakase and also enjoyed a variety of skewers and appetizers. Service was attentive and the food came out promptly. Overall, a great dining experience.
For a restaurant with these type of reviews and accolades, I was extremely underwhelmed by my experience. The service was great, the ambiance was fine. However, the quality of the fish was below the standards I would expect for a top notch sushi restaurant. I'd say if you're looking to splurge on sushi, you're better off taking your money elsewhere.
Food and Sake and ambiance were all absolutely Divine!
Their daikon salad is delicious and the grilled Hamachi collar was rich and cooked to perfection. Loved the softshell crab. They have very interesting sashimi offerings of specialty fish. They serve frothy beer in a cool ceramic mug... (all I could see was the foam and I thought everyone was drinking cappuccinos in a Japanese restaurant until I settled it with the waitress.) Highly recommend. Dark atmosphere but very pleasant.
I come from Europe to Silicon Valley and every time I’m here I take the opportunity for a dinner at Seya. Great sushi and sashimi, good saké selection and reasonable prices. Always perfect dining at Seya.
Excellent service ! The hamachi Kama was outstanding ! The best I’ve ever had. Fish is fresh. Sake also amazing
It was a family gathering and we were seated at a nice corner table which could fit more people. I loved the fish tacos especially! Can’t wait for the next gathering here!
My husband and I come to Seiya regularly. The sushi is consistently delicious and fantastic, and the service is excellent!
The food is always amazing! The fish is so fresh. The service is on point!
Lovely sushi resto. Their private dining room for a party of 6-7 was awesome! Would definitely return for any occasion.
My husband and I visit Seiya multiple times a month. The service is consistently fantastic, the sushi is always fresh and delicious, and we love that it’s a relatively smaller, cozier place.
The food was delicious and the fish was very fresh. The hostess and waitress were very sweet. The only bad experience was that our order of omakase nigiri took 45 minutes to be served. The sushi chef probably had a really important customer who was sitting next to us, because the chef was focusing on those customers and paying no attention to us, even though we were sitting right in front of him. When their important customers left and our omakase order was finally ready, the sushi chef angrily told the hostess that we have been waiting for a long time. It was very awkward to be in that situation between the restaurant staff. We're probably not coming back.
Fabulous as always!
Took 30 to get table and server was not friendly or helpful. It was during a week lunch and just unacceptable
Nothing special about the food, very pricey. Many other sushi places around are equal or better for less than half the price
This was our second time there. The staff is friendly and attentive and the sushi is great.
Menu items were hit or miss. Some of the rolls were quite good. Fatty tuna was absolutely delicious, but the mackerel was just too chewy to enjoy - textures were way off. They have a small robata grill selection - we tried the bacon wrapped prawn. Prawn was seriously overcooked and rubbery (probably left it on the grill long enough to cook the bacon, which meant that the prawn was overcooked by the time the bacon was done). Despite other people's complaints, service was good. Wine selection is poor.
Good service & good sushi
Authentic and high quality sushi. Good value for price. Atmosphere is modern and good both for business and private. We were served complementary kanpachi carpaccio for my wife's birthday occasion.
Very nice place with great small plates to share. Did not have much of the sushi/sashimi so will have to return to fully evaluate, but it warrants a second visit.
This place has the best sushi we have found on the peninsula. Great food, great service.
We came here and got a variety of things, like seaweed salad, miso soup, an assortment of sashimi, and 2 rolls. Also got a sampler of sake and a coooooold Asahi for me. The Kobe beef roll was really something different and we both loved it - could've easily eaten 2 rolls each! The spider roll was also very good. Delicious sashimi. The service was the best part, as we got good attention from the wait staff to explain the different kinds of sake and sashimi. A bit pricey, but we'd come back.
Awesome as usual! The food is always fresh and tastes amazing! Thank you, Helen, for a wonderful dining experience!
Always very fresh, very tasty sushi and saki! Highly recommended
We were not impressed with the omakase sashimi. The fish was tough and had bones!
For Japanese taste no good.
No enough selection in the menu.
Omakace very poor
The Sushi chef wasn’t friendly at all. It’s important to make the clients feel welcome but that’s no the case in this place.
We don’t recommend this restaurant and we’re not coming back again here.
It was a date night with my husband of 30 years but sadly we didn’t enjoy.
Great food, awesome specials and beautiful ambience. Great place for a date if sushi is your thing.
Wonderful food but portions are very small and the prices are very expensive for what you get.
Birthday celebration but the restaurant didn’t do anything special. Food was decent but service needs improvement.
My reservation was for 8p. A call to confirm was received that day also stating I could not have a table only seating at the bar? I also wasn't seated until almost 830p.
I had forgotten how delicious sashimi could taste.
Overall good. Menu is quite authentic and good quality Japanese food. I wish they have more alcohol selection to match its food offerings however.
First time I go to Seiya for diner... I was asked to confirm the type of table for the reservation, individual table, but was told on arrival that there were no more of those individual table and ended up seating at the bar... ok but not sure what's going on with reservation. Likely overbooking.
Food was ok. I've had better dishes at Seiya.
The really bad point was service, we didn't have a minute without the waitress asking us if we wanted something, to the point where it was very annoying. Another waitress' han just showed up picking plates without asking or even looking.
Fairly disappointed by Seiya this time.
Seiya's menus steps beyond the conventional Japanese sushi and bistro experience. Fortunately most of the dishes work. We order a wide variety of appetizers to get a broad sampling of the kitchen's capability. With the exception of the Kushiage Trio, which was just average, everything else we sampled (Hamachi Carpaccio, Fish Tacos, Agedashi Tofu, Sashimi Salad, and Great Balls of Fire) was excellent. Service was attentive, without being intrusive, and our waitress paced out the dishes just right. Overall a good experience and we'd go back.
Creative, food and ambiance!
What a wonderful restaurant, the Hawaiian Style Poke was one of my favorite dishes.
The atmosphere was very inviting, the staff was so accommodating, and the food was outstanding.
Seiya has enough classic Sushi options mixed with their innovative cuisine to sate the broad set of tastes and appetites. Classic nigiri, got that. A few common Americanized rolls? Yup. Seafood Cigar or Risotto? What - amazing! Great mix of flavors from nuanced to intense. Price is a typical trendy Bay Area Peninsula restaurant, but it's worth every penny.
Very high quality sushi in a great environment.
