Most Excellent - service, chef's specials and the overall food!
We love Seiya!
Outdoor dining could have used more heaters but otherwise I’m glad they had the option. Our server was lovely. The food was quite pricey and the taste was average.
Everybody ordered different items for themselves, which meant one of the party just ordered rolls… but the rolls didn’t come out until the very end and very slowly as well, which meant that person ended up waiting for their food while the rest of the table finished… otherwise food was good overall.
Mediocre food with horrible service. Sushi bar only as tables are spartan at best.
Excellent service with friendly knowledgeable staff. Food was great. My favorite was the hamachi carpaccio.
Good quality sushi! All the rolls my family ordered were fresh and tasty.
Server was welcoming, hospitable and attentive. Sushi was top notch with many selections flown in from Japan. Would high recommend.
Omakase is amazing and all the sushi is heavenly. Hiro san is unparalleled in the art of sushi.
Quality ingredients from Japan. Also love all the care the sushi chef puts into everything, including making his own soy sauce. Seiya is now my favorite go-to. I’m in San Jose, but they are worth the drive. It’s hard to eat anywhere else, once you’ve had high quality food and service like this. Love this place
Best sushi in San Carlos! Fresh fish, great preparation, lovely service.
Lovely intimate restaurant , great service. Knowledgeable server and good food.
The best sushi on the Peninsula!
Food was quite mediocre for the price. I had a great experience the first time but the second time around the food was just so.
Based on all the positive reviews, I expected much better. Nothing special about this restaurant. The outdoor seating area provides zero ambience and shows that very little effort was used to put it together on a street filled with beautiful parklets.
I won't be going back.
We love Seiya.. I had been waiting to come back as my husband loves sushi..but I do not eat anything that basically is in the water.. I love their Kobe beef rolls, vegetable tempura. and veggie skewers. Unfortunately they are not serving any of those. They did have one beef special that was very pretty and a vegetable roll, both were tasty. My husband had some of the specials which were just works of art as well as nummy. I totally get it... they said they are understaffed.. Hoping to return soon.
Seiya’s sushi, the best!!! I recently moved to So. Cal and can’t find anything eve close!!!
I came back for a weekend and HAD to visit Seiya!!!
Birthday celebration for my father. Food was good
Sushi was absolutely delicious. Disappointed that some menu items weren’t available. Timing to get food was mixed. Outdoor area not as quaint as indoor. Folks at next door’s restaurant’s patio were ver loud.
I love the foods and the service. Fish was so fresh and buttery. Fish tacos were yummy. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and on point about her recommendations. Price is a little high.
It seemed like they were understaffed. We had a reservation and they couldn’t empty the tables for 45 mins. Then they forgot multiple requests and orders took forever to arrive. Even the bill took forever. By the time we were done it had been a much longer dinner than we’d planned, and I started to understand why the previous patrons took longer to clear the table.
Seiya disappointed us. First, the menu was on an app and each item was not described. We had to order "blind". Second, there were no real waiters to ask questions or get descriptions of various dishes, wines, or sake. Last, it is very expensive. Two small pieces of fish were $15.
Excellent sushi! Try the seasonal fish, the Barracuda was fun to try.
I love this place. The food is amazing. My preferred sushi in the peninsula.
Consistently excellent sushi from a master. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented. Great service.
The fish taco is the must-have one! Shrimp Tempura was also great, crispy yet not oily! Nargiri and Sashimi is above average.
I was a little skeptical when I arrived as the posted pictures did not reflect what I saw live. That all was eliminated by the service and the food. The creativity and freshness of the cuisine were amazing and the servers understood what made Seiya unique. They were able to make excellent recommendations and made the experience far from ordinary. This will be a staple for any trip made to the Bay Area. Well done Seiya, you have a loyal follower.
Great sushi. Very fresh
Outstanding variety of seasonal fish directly from Japan. Expertly prepared by highly creative chef with Keen eye for detail. Some of the most authentic sushi I've had outside Japan.
The seafood was super fresh, and the service was excellent! We love Seiya!
Very disappointed, we were very excited to finally able to dine in, we were regular for years. But tonight was a disaster, not sure what happened but we would have spent $150 or more that night for two, but at the end half of our order was not ever served due to some mistakes (the why - not explained to us) and of course we also ended up skipping desert that we look forward too. At the end, we were so sick of waiting for our food. Too bad, food was still good but we only get half of our order. I will not be returning anytime soon, what a turn off.
Excellent rolls, great fish quality
My team went and I made the reservation for them. They absolutely loved it!
Only one waitress, one bus person and one cashier serve the whole dining room plus outdoor tables. Terrible service, waited more than 30mins. Try cancel the order, serve said already made, still need to wait another 10-15 mins to deliver.
Foods are over priced, 10 pieces sashimi cost $62. Uni sushi cost $11 each piece. Will not recommend.
Wonderful experience, great food
feels like home! fabulous stuff, off the chart fish quality, we keep coming back!
The quality of the dishes were excellent but I was still hungry after &65 Omacase 8 piece sushi...
If you enjoy the good stuff this is the place. A clear respect for tradition without being bound by it. It’s a beautiful space and arranged appropriately for covid times indoor dining. A friendly and knowledgeable staff that understands pacing a meal. It was our first time but won’t be out last. It was an excellent choice for our first meal out in a long time.
Quality food, sophisticated decor, excellent service, fair pricing. Will go back and strongly recommend.
