Sedgley Place Ratings and Reviews
Reservation was a gift from our children to celebrate our 45th anniversary. The romantic setting was perfect, the food was excellent, and the service was perfect. The new owner was very nice and friendly and it was a pleasure talking with her as she lead us to our table. A waitress passed by our table with a tray of shrimp cocktail and offered one to us, which my husband accepted. We assumed it was complimentary and commented on how nice that was. We were surprised, however, that a charge of $6.95 appeared on our check for the shrimp. We would not have taken one if we new we'd be charged for it. That was our only disappointment. The rest of the experience there and the superior taste of the food made up for it, though! We would definitely go back!
Wonderful ambiance with a country setting. It has been our "go to" for birthdays and anniversaries. (We have done Easter as well.) Great waitstaff. Fresh vegetables were wonderful. (Might suggest some lower carb options subbing mashed potatoes for mashed cauliflower...just so more options exist in that realm.)
First time here.. Food was amazing! Thought the soda should of came with meal.. No refill was offered. My husband and I didn't like the loud doors slamming that was over the top and consent slamming also thought the waitress staff should of been more classy
My husband and I decided to partake of the Thanksgiving offerings at Sedgley Place. After reading the available reviews it seemed a safe bet. Our first time there. We will celebrate Thanksgiving with family next week so the night out at Sedgley was kind of perfect for us.
I do not know what the dinner cost. Sorry. There were offerings for every taste I think. The portions were good. The nicely cooked local veg that was served right after the entrees were passed were nice. The wait staff was pleasant and as quick as they could be I suppose. I am never in that much of a hurry when I go out. To end this wordy review. We enjoyed it very much and were pleased to find such a place so nearby. Seems a bit of a well kept secret. Off the main road, what was an old house, all lit up with white lights. No fancy dressing, just nice. Casual.
Hope this helps. I had the seafood wellington and my husband had pretty traditional turkey dinner. Go to the website for particular info. Enjoy!
Went there for our Thanksgiving day meal. Made reservations online, was very easy.
Was seated within 10 minutes of arrival.
Everything was excellent, from the food to the wonderful wait staff. Would defiantly recommend to anyone. Great job done by All! Thank you Sedgleys Place!
Excellent meal as usual. Only negative was that the menu was not what was on website the night before. We went with other food choices in mind, and had to change gears with different menu. Due to noise level upstairs we had to ask for printed menu to contemplate, as waitress was very soft spoken and difficult to hear. Enjoyed what we ordered.
Great value for the price. The prix fixe menu makes selection of courses easy without being concerned about price. Limited selection of entrees, but should be accommodating for any taste. Menu not adventurous, but good, well-prepared and designed dishes. Highly recommend Sedgley Place for any occasion.
We planned this dinner for a girls night out/birthday dinner and were wholly satisfied! The mood was low key, drinks were tasty and the food was wonderful. My girlfriends got the tenderloin and I had the vegetarian option-a deep fried autumn vegetable risotto; so good! No one had room for dessert so our lovely server packaged cheesecake slices up for us to take home. The service was attentive and the courses were comfortably paced. I would recommend The Sedgley Place to anyone looking for something a bit fancy but not snooty!
This was our 6th consecutive year going to The Sedgely Place for our anniversary. We keep going back for many reasons. One being the traditional Anniversary dinner and the others being the excellent food and atmosphere. Our dinner on Saturday night was less than expected.
We sat upstairs in the dining room. We liked the table for two in the back. However, the service was very, very slow. At least 20+ min in between being waited on, getting our drinks and in between each course.
Our food was cold and bland. Definitely not the normal meal we are used to. Chicken for me. Prime rib for my husband.
We even overheard the other waitress tell about the dessert menu to another table so we could be prepared without the wait. We had a 6 pm seating and left at 8:30.
We are not sure at this point if we will return. We might have to find another anniversary dinner spot. We are very sad.
By far this is a great place to go for a fantastic meal! Service is always top notch! Highly recommend for a great date night! All of the meals they serve are fresh and cooked to perfection! This will always be on the top of my list of places to take my wife for dinner!
Fantastic food for reasonable price where can you have a cheese plate, soup salad main meal and dessert for less than 32 dollars. Food is phenomenal, service is stellar, food choices are divine, great portions not too much food, their seafood chowder is heavenly. Staff is polite attentive and the owners are just lovely people and once your main meal comes they bring to your table your vegetable choices. Wonderful place wonderful people great food.
My wife and I have come every year for our anniversary. Usually we can't say enough great things but this time unfortunately it was different. My salad was very bitter and my wife and I both didn't eat our meals. We both ordered the beef wellington and it was not good. I'm hoping it was just a bad night.
I was disappointed. The first table we were assigned to was tightly squeezed into a corner and wobbled badly. You couldn't even rest your hand on the table without spilling something. After asking to be moved, the hostess said she would place a shim under the table. When I asked to be moved if at all possible since it was so tight in the corner, she very begrudgingly gave us another table. We were upstairs and the noise was so bad that it made conversation difficult. The service was incredibly slow. The food was pretty good but not great. I'd been before and was looking forward to celebrating our anniversary there, but left regretting my choice. The overall experience did not merit the price. If I ever do return, I will be sure to request seating downstairs.
It was okay, but nothing special. There are so many places to celebrate that I wouldn't plan Sedgley Place again because: fixed time schedule, good food but staff information incorrect or unclear, no attention to detail- example removed silverware but didn't replace when food came that needed the knives. Asked for steak knife, never appeared. Charge for every refill of iced tea or coffee, no prices provided for extras like beautiful shrimp cocktail or lobster cocktail, not particular warm wait staff. No menus- have to remember what server rattles off.
Excellent fresh and organic items from the farm there.
As usual, the Sedgley Place lived up to its nearly 40 years of providing fine dining. It continues to be an exceptional experience. While maintaining some of its traditional
elements, such as its great miniloaf of wheat bread, the honey-glazed carrots, and
the creamy garlic noodles, the entrées change each week and are made with excellent ingredients. We have never been disappointed.
Loved it! Hubby and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary at Sedgley Place, and it did not disappoint. We had a cozy table, the food was wonderful, and the staff was attentive. We even got a complimentary glass of champagne for the occasion! We'll be back.
