Sedgely Place is a mid-Maine morning nstitutiin that does not disappoint. Excellent menu choices, five yummy courses, and attentive and competent wait staff. I highly recommend
The upstairs dining room was lovely. We were seated on time. The potato choice (rositti) with the filet was tasteless and not a suitable choice with such a high price meal. Would have been nice to have another option. Quality of food, level of service not as high as in the past. Very expensive meal and service slow. Waitress very friendly and accommodating but not attentive to details. This is a yearly family event which left us disappointed this year.
was expecting a lot more creativity and interesting menu items....
Outstanding prime rib. Chef’s special seafood dish was small portion, although tasty. Very attentive service by young waitstaff. Very pleasantly decorated old house, cozy atmosphere. Good value for several courses of solidly prepared food.
We used to love going to Sedgley's but the last 3 times we went there, the food was just "ok". The meat was cooked to everyone's satisfaction (medium rare through medium well) but, there wasn't much flavor. The green beans, although cooked correctly, they were bland. Our potato selection (a type of hashbrown) was overdone, and dried out. I will say all the other courses, soup, salad, appetizers and desert were good. Our waitress was really friendly and did a great job in regards to service. For the price of the meal, we were disappointed in the main entree. Sedgley used to be a place that you went to treat yourself with a special evening of good food, friends and family. Sadly, the food has not been up to par as it was in the past. Sadly, we won't be going back again anytime soon.
Such a special place. They continue to do everything right. Staff is extraordinary. We arrived early and were offered a cocktail. I had a Seasonal Blueberry Martini and my husband a glass of wine. We were seated promptly. The new owners seem to have kept many of the wonderful touches as the previous owners. The cheese spread and crackers and the warm loaf of bread with whipped butter. Our appetizers and salads were spot on. I ordered duck breast, splendid. My husbands stuffed tenderloin did not disappoint. Servings size was ample. I had to bring my dessert home. Only difference was could have used a little more of homemade hot fudge on sundae and I think changed vanilla ice cream vendor. Overall SUPERB!
I hadn't been there for 10 years or more and it really hasn't changed. I had a pleasant evening with my friends and thought the experience was fine.
Great food, setting and service. Quiet, too, but we were dining early (pre-theater).
Best dining experience in Maine yet! Weren't rushed, portions perfect and drinks were yummy!
Sedgley Place has been around and growing for more than 30 years. It has fresh owners who are faithful to the original concept of a five course prix fixe meal with a limited and varied menu. The new folks have started adding farm to table and other locally sourced food. We had Scallops over penne with a red pepper pesto, salmon, and a beggar's purse vegetable ravioli. All were good and well-prepared. soups, salads, and desserts were creative and nicely presented.
Great food and service. My wife and I love this place. We'd recommend the brunch too when it's offered.
high noise level rating should not be taken as positive - it was hard to have table conversation on the 'porch' with loud guests. I will ask for quiet seating next time. Our entrees were delicious - as always. Nice variety of offerings. Dessert sizes have definitely 'skinnied down' (pun intended) since our last visit. I would encourage a return to a traditional dessert serving. Strawberry shortcakes were dry - 1 strawberry and little to no juice between the biscuit halves was not what I expected. We will come back as we've been enjoying Sedgley for nearly 40 years. that said, I would encourage a return to the offerings that have created a faithful following and don't make too many changes to what has made this a very special dining experience for years.
The food here is wonderfully prepared, served with friendliness and, for a fixed prize menu, a lovely variety of choices!
We had a nice dinner everything was great we come up on our vacation each year we have been coming to your place for at least 25 years. Now our family also makes it point to eat there as well . Judi
we were seated in the little room in back, sitting by the window it was very cold; the AC seemed to be blowing directly on us; would have been nice if we could have opened the blind & let in some warm sun.
We went here for our 5th anniversary. It was an amazing meal for not too much money. Highly recommend it. Menu changes regularly. A very delicious night!
We were celebrating our 39th annaversary and were surprised when the waitress offered complementary champagne for a toast. The waitress was friendly, polite and very effeciant. All parts of the meal were delicious and flavorfull.
Very pleased about the entire experiance at Sedgley Place and looking forward to future visits.
Awesome food and awesome service, couldn't ask for anything more.
This is my husbands and I's go-to spot - as its close to home. Food is always wonderful and we feel like its worth the money. My only complaint this time was the wait between waitress visits. We ran out of water and wine a few times and had to wait quite a bit for refills. But this wont deter us from going back.
Have been going there for years now we've become regulars always love the food and the staff especially Janet and Chelsea they have been are favorite waitresses for a long time keep up the good work 😁
This Place is exceptional, they really care about food Quality. Always perfectly cooked. Wait staff is always on top of everything, very smooth dining experience.
Sedgley Place in Greene is a solid, consistently great restaurant to visit. The meals are consistently superb. This is a place where you want to go for a quiet, quality meal that beats the good but noisy venues of the greater Portland area. We go here at least once every year and remains a favorite.
Awesome food and atmosphere! Waitress was great. It made for a great birthday celebration for my husband.
Food was great! Service was great, but never felt rushed.
Wonderful food and experience
It was not busy but the service was very slow. We waited 15 minutes before our server appeared with menus. Water, cheese and crackers were already on the table when we were seated, but not sure how long they had been there. Food was very good.
Food was delicious.
Servers seemed to be doing it all.
Serving, making drinks, clearing tables, etc...
They were doing a good job but couldn’t give patrons the attention they deserved and paid for.
Still wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
Our waitress was outstanding and very friendly. Our meals were great! Great experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. One vegetarian who was delighted with his meal. I do recommend checking menu on line ahead as it changes weekly and selections are limited . All courses included for the price.
This is a long -time family favorite - I still wonder how we found it years ago! Wonderful ambiance, good food, great service. Worth the drive to Greene.
Food was ok but the noise level from one of the tables did not make it a quiet dinner time for us
Excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere
Have enjoyed this place for years. I only wish that I had checked the bill before I left. I was charged for a shrimp cocktail that they were bringing around and offering to the tables. We politely declined as we usually need to be rolled out of this place by the end of the meal. My bad...I'll blame it on the cocktails.
Not as good as it was last time we went. Owe received good service but the food was not up to expectations.
A truly unique multi-course dining experience. We enjoyed a leisurely couple of hours enjoying great service and round after round of expertly prepared courses topped off by a gourmet dessert. Highly recommend!
Delicious food during a romantic dinner. It is in a perfect country location. Janet was a great waitress working by herself and made every customer feel welcome.
My absolute favorite restaurant. The food is always fabulous and prefer Sedgley’s over any place else
Great service in all areas. My seafood crepe was not all that tasty.
Food was amazing, Chelsea our waitress was very attentive and informative. We also had a scenic view out in the back room, we saw three deer walking around. We have been going to Sedgley Place for many years and have always enjoyed. We also enjoyed lunch at Easter this year.
The ham meal was so tender and flavorful!!
Would recommend for a special time out as a couple or with friends. New owners are very nice.
Took my wife for her birthday and it was more than expected as far as service and quality of food!!
Our server "Chelsea" was very nice and was very informative and was accurate on her descriptions of food and predictions of what we might like!
This is a restaurant where you go and are not in a hurry, the courses are timely and warm and the meats were cooked as requested.
