Always our "special occasion" place to enjoy delicious cusine
French food and wine tasting, food was outstanding, and the wine pairings were too!
We had decided to try the Sunday brunch as a late Valentines meal due to my fiance was having surgery the next day and we had decided to wait till he could walk again. I was very disappointed with the food. We have dined in for dinner before and the dinner had been awesome and assumed the Brunch would have the same quality of cooking and food; but the brunch was disappointing. There was supposed to be baked haddock with lobster sauce and when we went to get some it was just salty haddock in fish liquid, no creamy sauce to go on it, the beef stew tasted like a bouillon cube, the chicken Marsala was dry due to the rice being on the bottom of the pan and absorbed all the sauce, the Caesar salad was wilted and there pastry selection was very minimal, and they only offered 3 desserts. Also trying to lift covers and hold them while you tried to put food on your plate was annoying and my fiance had had knee replacement and was becoming frustrated trying to get his food. The egg station was good and cook friendly, waitress was friendly.
A nice old fashioned restaurant. Fun to get all 5 courses if you have the time. I was a little disappointed in the food. Salad wasn't great; My filet seemed like it was baked-not broiled. the vegetables were very well prepared and tasty as was the twice baked potato. My son said the fish special was very good and my husband was very happy with his prime rib.
It had been quite some time since I've been to Sedgley's Place and from what I had recalled it was a total experience and absolutely worth the price. I was disappointed to find the food to be standard, nothing notable for the atmosphere and the server had very little knowledge of the menu or wine options. The new owner met us at the door on the way out, which was nice, we absolutely wished her the best with the new business. We hope this is just a tough transition that they'll work through quickly. We do feel that in this day and age with new restaurants popping up everywhere there needs to be some work done on reinventing the menu, atmosphere and time training staff to be prepared for questions and recommendations. I would like to hear of a grand reopening of sorts so that we're able to give them another chance to reinvent what used to be a hidden gem!
Second time dining with Sedgley Place. Was well worth the drive of close to an hour. Went for a Birthday dinner this time. Champagne was requested. Champagne on the table and chilled when we arrived. No waiting. Reservations are suggested and encouraged. Menu varies from week to week with the Prime Rib always in attendance on the Menu. I had short ribs, could not finish so much on the plate. With went with the Prime Rib, took most of it home. Son and his Fiance' had the Filet Mignon. Both their first time there. Definitely would recommend this for special occasions.
The food was delicious, beautifully plated and there was a good selection. The service was fantastic! Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Great atmosphere, charming setting and delicious food. Can't wait until next time.
We loved the food - so much of it and so delicious! At the end of the meal we were told about the list of desserts that were offered. However, we were too full to even take one. What we didn't know was that the dessert was included as part of the price of the meal!! I only wish the waitress would have told us that we could have taken it home with us. When I got back to my parents house (we had been visiting from out of state), they asked me if we had the dessert and we said no. Then they asked us if we brought it home - we had no idea we could have done that. Needless to say I was disappointed that had not been relayed to us. Hopefully this does not happen to a lot of other guests.
Wonderful ambiance great food and good service. The venue is a nice quite place for a dinner with the one you love.
Excellant! Would highly recommend Sedgley Place. Wonderful food and service.
Always a great time, great food, and best peanut butter pie!!
We had the 5 course meal and went for the better meat options. The food, all of it, was phenomenal! It's a little out of the way, and expensive for the area, but it was a great time and we'd do it again. Service left much to be improved upon. The entree's starch options could have been better, but it was still 5 star.
Our favorite restaurant my whole family loves this place! Food is outstanding!
But it’s not a place if you’re in rush , plan for two hours for five course meals. Well worth it!
Excellent food and superb service, the farm to table menu is delicious and not overwhelming and our service was impeccable. Thanks again Sedgely for a wonderful dining experience.
Seating was right on time, food was excellent as usual, service was good. Not rushed to finished. If this was a bit less pricey, we would eat there more often.
Always a great meal with outstanding service.
I have never been disappointed when I go to Sedgely Inn. The place is beautiful, close to us, and the food is amazing. We had some noisy intoxicated people near us at first this time, but they soon left and then it was quiet. Our server was efficient and got everything perfect for our birthday celebration. :-)
We had such an amazing time. We hadn't ever been there before and found everyone so sweet. They all seemed to really enjoy their jobs. They graciously answered any questions we had. We would definitely come again!
Obe my all time favorite places. I have never been let down. Perfect relaxing dinner with family while my son and his girlfriend were home from college. A+++ on everything. Our waitress was excellent
The food was really good the people setting behind us were loud. The service was a little slow. But over all we had a nice evening and the food was excellent
Have previously enjoyed this lovely place once a year for a special dinner with family after the holidays. Found this visit a bit disappointing - found out half way through the meal that it is under new owner which may reflect the changes we experienced. There was a pre-dinner appetizer offered that we refused, later learning from hearing folks at the next table that this would have resulted in an undeclared up charge. Enjoyed the traditional courses although did not find the quality of the food presented to be as good as prior visits. Entrees were different prices which was not advertised. In the Lew-Aub area there are not very many lovely dining options - will still go back next year but with modified expectations.
enjoyed our meal here. It was a nice night out. The drinks took too long to receive them. They need to be faster in this area. We were not given menus when we first sat down and then they were on our table until almost the end of the service. I had to ask for a wine list. Not offered.
My only negative would be the stuffed mushroom appetizer. The mushrooms tasted old.
Beautiful place, very delicious food and great friendly staff/owner! Will definitely come back again!
Reservation was a gift from our children to celebrate our 45th anniversary. The romantic setting was perfect, the food was excellent, and the service was perfect. The new owner was very nice and friendly and it was a pleasure talking with her as she lead us to our table. A waitress passed by our table with a tray of shrimp cocktail and offered one to us, which my husband accepted. We assumed it was complimentary and commented on how nice that was. We were surprised, however, that a charge of $6.95 appeared on our check for the shrimp. We would not have taken one if we new we'd be charged for it. That was our only disappointment. The rest of the experience there and the superior taste of the food made up for it, though! We would definitely go back!
This is a very nice restaurant with creative entrees made with non processed ingredients. We look forward to coming here for special occasions and have never been disappointed.
The food was excellent. Our server was fantastic and made sure we were well cared for and had what we needed for a wonderful evening.
Wonderful ambiance with a country setting. It has been our "go to" for birthdays and anniversaries. (We have done Easter as well.) Great waitstaff. Fresh vegetables were wonderful. (Might suggest some lower carb options subbing mashed potatoes for mashed cauliflower...just so more options exist in that realm.)
Love this place. Food quality very good and a value considering 5 courses, good wait staff and classic country inn setting.
Always the best and most fancy but simple affordable place around.
The staff is always exceptional and friendly. Our waitress was extremely attentive. The food was amazing. Everything they make and cook is clearly done with expertise and a passion for food. It's worth the money and it's a perfect romantic evening.
Cannot find many places like this anymore. My 2nd time and both were around holidays. Given the quality, portions, and freshness of the selections, well worth the cost. Would really like if they did something like apps/drinks one night of the week.
Very disappointed overall. Food was average at best. Service was very slow.
Very expensive. Was a frequent guest, last three visits, unsatisfied. Will not be returning.
Have not been there for years but it was still the same delicious food and service. Highly recommend.
consider more creative vegetarian dishes as well would be good. did away with egg noodle side dish. big mistake
First time here.. Food was amazing! Thought the soda should of came with meal.. No refill was offered. My husband and I didn't like the loud doors slamming that was over the top and consent slamming also thought the waitress staff should of been more classy
Lived near it for 10 years and finally made it. I can assure you this will now happen at least monthly or when family or friends visit. The entire meal was not only great tasting but the courses were timed perfectly. Nice atmosphere also.
My husband and I decided to partake of the Thanksgiving offerings at Sedgley Place. After reading the available reviews it seemed a safe bet. Our first time there. We will celebrate Thanksgiving with family next week so the night out at Sedgley was kind of perfect for us.
I do not know what the dinner cost. Sorry. There were offerings for every taste I think. The portions were good. The nicely cooked local veg that was served right after the entrees were passed were nice. The wait staff was pleasant and as quick as they could be I suppose. I am never in that much of a hurry when I go out. To end this wordy review. We enjoyed it very much and were pleased to find such a place so nearby. Seems a bit of a well kept secret. Off the main road, what was an old house, all lit up with white lights. No fancy dressing, just nice. Casual.
Hope this helps. I had the seafood wellington and my husband had pretty traditional turkey dinner. Go to the website for particular info. Enjoy!
We drove 400 miles to celebrate Thanksgiving at Sedgley's. Worth every mile. Great food! Perfect service! Thank You. Looking forward to next Thanksgiving.
