Loved every minute!
The atmosphere and vibe was very good . Loved the service we got and the food was delicious . The only issue was the limited menu and the portion of the food. Both of our plates were really small
Dinner was great. Unfortunately I don’t remember my servers name but he was outstanding!!
Great date night spot we always forget to go here but when we do we always wonder why we don’t go more because it is really good
The food was amazing there was party on the night we dined but it was still very nice.
Love the menu. Great place for a chatty lunch with a good friend. Service was terrific.
LOVED it. Scott took great care of us. Service was perfect, food was fabulous, and we LOVED the environment. Fun, classy, warm, delightful. I'll be back :)
Took advantage of Dine LA and had a fabulous 3-course meal. The shrimp appetizer, pork chop and chocolate cake was so good I can still taste it.
Great service and food. Will come back !
Had a very tasty, low key New Year’s Eve dinner - exactly what we wanted!
We love to support our local eateries. Plus, with it being New Year's Eve, we wanted to find a nice place that we could walk to to avoid the crazies. Well. Second City Bistro seemed to fit the bill. The ambiance and decorations are great. Look at some of the pictures of the hanging holiday balls and lights from the ceiling along with the over-sized "presents" hanging on the walls. Definitely looks the part.
We were greeted right away and our reservation for a specific table was fulfilled. Thank you.
Our waiter was very good but, you could tell almost immediately, that the wait-staff was stressed. After observing for a while, I believe that they could have used one more person to help out and that became evident over the course of our meal.
We brought our own wine as we have a New Year's Eve favorite and the waiter addressed that quickly. Brought us glasses and uncorked it right away. But when we asked for water as well, that took a little longer.
For the meal, they did offer both their main menu and three prix fixe meal options. We both decided for the $69 option which came with a soup AND salad, main course and a dessert.
Th Caesar salad had a nice flavor to it but could have used just a little more "zing" if you know what I mean. The lobster bisque was served with carrot slices on top which I thought was odd. But, what was worse was that it was served lukewarm. That was a sign we should have paid attention too.
This is where the wait-staff could have used one more person, a cleaner and/or fixer to pick up orders as soon as they were ready and to clean off dishes as soon as guests were done.
We finished our soups and salads (both brought at the exact same time) and then...waited...
It took quite a while for the main courses to arrive and, when they did, they were not hot. Prime rib, lamb, mac & cheese...all, not hot and some, like the mac & cheese was cool. Which tells me they were sitting for that extended period of time while we were waiting. Out of space.
Parking available in adjacent lot and garage; given choice of where to sit; server could have been more attentive as we had to flag her down to request bread, get drink refills and to get check even though there were only a few customers; ordered Caesar salad and the fish and chips and baby back ribs-food was very tasty and portions large enough for take home left-overs; good value for cost, taste and portion size.
Amazing service by Cesar and delicious food! The six of us all enjoyed the cheese boards and our meals immensely.
The food was was luck warm when bought out to us. Service was terrible took almost 3hrs for dinner!
Food was great and they were very accommodating with requests to modify menu items. Atmosphere was excellent as well...cozy seating and our group was able to talk easily.
The first couple of times here were good. The last three times has raised a flag for us. They do not seem to acknowledge we have made a reservation. We must wait, we ask for standard seating, the want us at the high. Then the worse, we liked their ribs from the first visit, last three visits, burnt ribs. We don't like sending food back, this last time we did let them know.
A really unmemorable experience. Won't repeat
Nice vibe. Service was friendly and well timed. Food was very average. When you can’t do a cheese plate well you know there are issues. Risotto and fish blah. I hoped for better.
Found this gem via the web, looking for some fresh fish to have for dinner traveling with a colleague. Food was outstanding, would definitely return in the future!!
This was not our first time at this hidden gem in El Segundo. The food is fabulous, drinks good and strong and it is so quiet and wonderful. We ate out on the patio- perfect place for lunch or dinner
Happened upon this place (via OT) while visiting LA
Nice selection of wine, both by the glass and bottle. Very casual fun vibe and the food is solid.
Would like to go back just for cocktails next time in town
Brought a group of 16 for a business dinner, such a great experience and fantastic food!!
Calamari salad only fair. Very bland calamari, need seasoning. The Cajun tilapia was excellent
Great food. I always enjoy the blue cheese burger.
From the minute we were seated until we paid our check, Second City Bistro was a disappointment. We arrived about 20 min early for our reservation on 9/27 and were told we could be seated. We then waited about 15-20 for someone to come over and greet us, bring water, anything. But nothing. We finally flagged down the host who sat us and said can he please get our waiter so we can place a drink order? He then said he would take the order because they are really backed up. Why seat us early then? We would have gladly come back at our reservation time if we knew we would have just been sitting at a table waiting. It then took another 15+ minutes to get our drinks. Our waiter came to deliver the drinks and gave no apology for the wait, didn’t introduce himself, or offer any info about daily specials, etc. Zero personality. We ordered the baked Brie as an appetizer. It was very basic, came with bland water crackers and hardly any of the compote on top. My husband suggested we leave after this and I should have listened. We then waited another 20 or so minutes for him to come back and take our order, which who knows if he ever would have done unless we flagged him down. I ordered the shrimp risotto and my husband ordered the fish special. Now, anyone who knows my husband knows he will eat ANYTHING, NEVER sends food back and rarely doesn’t finish his meal. His fish came, he took about 3 bites and pushed the plate away. Said it was terrible and way too salty. My risotto was also nothing special, somewhat clumpy and I didn’t finish it. Oh, we also ordered the Greek salad which wasn’t actually a salad, as there was no lettuce. Just chopped veggies with a vinaigrette. When the waiter came back to ask how everything was, my husband said it wasn’t good and he wasn’t going to eat his meal. He offered no replacement, no apology and didn’t remove it from the bill. $110 later and we won’t be back!!!
This is one of our favorite places. The first time we visited, we were upset. We stood waiting to be seated for a bit longer than expected. However we came to realize the staff are some busy people. We needed to exercise patience. I tell you it is well worth it. They are amazing. We have enjoyed each experience. They are the friendliest, the ambience is wonderful. The food is great. I particularly love the ribs! This place is one to mark as a favorite.
Great steaks for a reasonable price .
Will definitely be coming back
The cheese platter was our first indication that we had stopped at the wrong lunch spot. Our salads came and they were poor to fair. We left early and we left our food. The waiter was sweet and excellent. This was it’s redeeming quality. This is a beer bar. Maybe it is fine for french fries and a beer. I do not recommend it for food at all. There are many excellent restaurants nearby - go to them.
I have never written a bad review on here until now.
Just s great and relaxing meal!
Wonderful time celebrating our daughter’s birthday with a few friends. Love the atmosphere and our waiter was very good, attentive and professional. Looking forward to going back!!
A nice neighborhood joint. Super friendly with small sidewalk patio in front.
The food was of very poor quality. I had the Cobb salad and other than lettuce and tomatoes it hardly had anything much else in it. Very boring. I also had the tomato soup that was very cool, not enough as the tiny cup was full of croutons. Not apprecaited.
On a positive note my friend had the chicken sandwich and it was fantastic.
This is the first time we've eaten at Second City Bistro - we found it because of DineLA and it's a KEEPER. The pork chop was delicious - as was the short ribs, lobster bisque and chocolate creme brule. In fact - we are going to their wine dinner on August 1st. Looks like a fantastic menu and the desert is that creme brule.
Went for DineLA. Limited menu, but pretty good options. Been here many times and they have the best ribeye!
We found the place welcoming, our waiter very friendly and helpful. We were there midweek and did not have any problem getting seated and served quickly. We sat out on the patio which was very nice in the hot summer.
Food not great
We decided to take it vantage of dine LA. When we got there we had to wait 45 minutes just to to place our order. We had to flag down the hostess to get our server to come. Apparently they didn’t know we had been seated. The waiter was very nice and professional, he apologized for the delay and provided comp wne. I had the short ribs. They were just OK, a little bland and had that taste like they been cooked in a crockpot. My husband had the ribs. He said they were good. They ran out of the tiramisu dessert and offered the brownie. The brownie was nothing special. Luckily we got the waiter to add on vanilla ice cream which I would make it tastier. Really nice ambience, we did not feel rushed, and it was an overall good date night but the experience was just so-so.
Great place!!! Good portions
And their customer service response is great!
Tried the dinela dinner menu. All the food was fabulous! Especially enjoyed the mussels appetizer. Had the short rib entree and tiramisu dessert. The service was great and we didn't feel rushed to leave. Would definitely return and would recommend to everyone.
Loved our waiter. Lovely lunch. We enjoyed our Dine LA.
