Second City Bistro
Great steaks for a reasonable price .
Will definitely be coming back
The cheese platter was our first indication that we had stopped at the wrong lunch spot. Our salads came and they were poor to fair. We left early and we left our food. The waiter was sweet and excellent. This was it’s redeeming quality. This is a beer bar. Maybe it is fine for french fries and a beer. I do not recommend it for food at all. There are many excellent restaurants nearby - go to them.
I have never written a bad review on here until now.
Just s great and relaxing meal!
Wonderful time celebrating our daughter’s birthday with a few friends. Love the atmosphere and our waiter was very good, attentive and professional. Looking forward to going back!!
A nice neighborhood joint. Super friendly with small sidewalk patio in front.
The food was of very poor quality. I had the Cobb salad and other than lettuce and tomatoes it hardly had anything much else in it. Very boring. I also had the tomato soup that was very cool, not enough as the tiny cup was full of croutons. Not apprecaited.
On a positive note my friend had the chicken sandwich and it was fantastic.
This is the first time we've eaten at Second City Bistro - we found it because of DineLA and it's a KEEPER. The pork chop was delicious - as was the short ribs, lobster bisque and chocolate creme brule. In fact - we are going to their wine dinner on August 1st. Looks like a fantastic menu and the desert is that creme brule.
Went for DineLA. Limited menu, but pretty good options. Been here many times and they have the best ribeye!
We found the place welcoming, our waiter very friendly and helpful. We were there midweek and did not have any problem getting seated and served quickly. We sat out on the patio which was very nice in the hot summer.
Food not great
We decided to take it vantage of dine LA. When we got there we had to wait 45 minutes just to to place our order. We had to flag down the hostess to get our server to come. Apparently they didn’t know we had been seated. The waiter was very nice and professional, he apologized for the delay and provided comp wne. I had the short ribs. They were just OK, a little bland and had that taste like they been cooked in a crockpot. My husband had the ribs. He said they were good. They ran out of the tiramisu dessert and offered the brownie. The brownie was nothing special. Luckily we got the waiter to add on vanilla ice cream which I would make it tastier. Really nice ambience, we did not feel rushed, and it was an overall good date night but the experience was just so-so.
Great place!!! Good portions
And their customer service response is great!
Tried the dinela dinner menu. All the food was fabulous! Especially enjoyed the mussels appetizer. Had the short rib entree and tiramisu dessert. The service was great and we didn't feel rushed to leave. Would definitely return and would recommend to everyone.
Loved our waiter. Lovely lunch. We enjoyed our Dine LA.
Food was tasteless. Kale salad was not massaged, had an off taste.
Greek salad also no flavor in the dressing. Calamari was rubbery and too thickly sliced. Tilapia was old and not properly cooked. Will not eat here again.
Awesome food, the owner was so awesome!!! What a find this was!!!
I was very disappointed in the changes at the restaurant. I have been going there since it opened and for years was one of my favorite places. I even convinced my friends it was worth the drive to ElSegundo on a Saturday night . First , after waiting 10 mins for a server , we had to ask for a wine list. We were informed that though there were 30-40 red wines , there were only 2 white wines available, in LA? How can that be?. It took another 30 mins until they took our order and 45 mins longer to get our food. The pork chops were very over cooked, the fish was just ok and appeared to have been sitting for a while. There were very few customers in the restaurant, so there was no excuse for the slow service. We had to wait again for the bill, finally leaving at 9:45 from a 6:30 reservation.
Sometimes changes can be good, but these changes will keep me from returning.
The food was very tasty. I ordered a shrimp appetizer, knowing that shrimp can be hit or miss. The shrimp was extremely fresh. The rest of our meal was great too. Fresh warm bread was served with soft butter. Excellent service. Friendly atmosphere.
Was disappointed at lunch. Lots of things missing of the menu. No avocado, no bread. Used to be so much better.
We had a great time with wonderful food and drinks for lunch. It is a gem hidden in El Segundo. It is well worth it, we will be back
One of our favorite restaurants to enjoy a meal at. Just GO!
It wasn’t very crowded but it took over 30 min to get our food. Had to ask for things multiple times and they wouldn’t do exceptions like no lettuce on sandwich. Not something that could have easily been done.
Excellent service, good food!
The food was fabulous, the service was incredible and the ambience was perfect!
Great food, great service, and a quiet restaurant. Loved how awesome the steak was, prepared just right. I’ll definitely be going back here again.
Hidden gem near Main Street in El Segundo, squeezed in-between an Italian restaurant and tiki lounge, this cozy artsy place is very welcoming. The decor is simple but striking: dark wood, brightly lit, colorful abstract art, ceiling fans, iron chandeliers, glass globe hanging lighting, bottles of wine lining booth - it is wonderful place for meal. Dine on patio, in cozy booth, at a table or at the bar.
The draw here is the wine. There is a small cellar near the back of restaurant, and each booth has 5 bottles of Knute wine vintages showcased with complete wine list.
The service here is excellent, they are attentive and friendly. The food is fresh and tasty. I tried Seafood Penne Pasta, a nice blend of mushrooms, tomatoes, mussels and shrimp with vodka cream sauce. I paired it with a non-vintage "California champagne", which complimented meal quite well.
Street parking only. Recommend reservation during peak times, as it can get busy.
I look forward to my next visit.
The ribs are wonderful.
The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. It has a normal restaurant price but high-quality food and service.
I requested a booth. A booth was waiting when we arrived. We had the tempura shrimp, it was very tasty. The bread is delicious. Then we had the full rack of ribs, my husband and I ate from them and we still brought some home. Oh btw my husband also had another dish also. Cocktails were good also. We will return.
Wonderful food and decent ambiance. They need to work a little more on the customer service. We were one of only 2 tables occupied and I had to get up to ask for extra salad dressing and bread because our server was nowhere to be found. I will chalk it up to an odd circumstance, but customer satisfaction is not a high priority here (yet). Hoping to come back and to be pleasantly surprised.
A perfect spot for dinner with friends. Menu was reasonably priced and had some nice choices. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. It was a rainy Monday night so it wasn't busy and we appreciated the fact that we could hear each other and be heard. We will go back when in the area again.
Excellent braised short ribs, baby back ribs, and chocolate creme brûlée!!!!
Great local spot . Food and service were great . Regular spot for us .
Great place to eat. The food has wonderful flavors and the wine list is second to none.
Ribeye, halibut with risotto, baked brie all amazing
Casual atmosphere, food was good, wine list seemed very expensive relative to the feel of the food and restaurant. Would probably go back if I lived close by but wouldn't go out of my way.
There aren't enough RED wines on the menu! We were told that the owner is focusing on whites. We red wine drinkers want more red wine options!
I have been going to Second City Bistro since they opened. It is a consistently great place for dinner. The drinks are great, the food is outstanding and the service is personable and consistent. I cant think of a better place for a relaxing, pleasant outstanding dinner than at the Second City Bistro.
This had been one of my most favorite places but the last visit went below expectation. I had a burger. I ordered medium-rare but it was modicum to well done. Buns were not grilled, just acceptable to supermarket quality.
This was my first time at Second City I will go again.
