Seaspice & Modern Garden Ratings and Reviews
The only problem I had was that I called to reserve a table and nobody explained that there was a difference of spaces (lounge/vip and restaurant) and difference of values. When I arrived I thought I would sit outside but it cost $500 per person and no one informed me anything. I found a little flawed this part..
The hostess experience is poor. They do not greet and offer exceptional customer service. Made us wait for a while and had to go and ask what’s going on. They didn’t apologize for their mistake in forgetting about us. Also forgot that we asked for an indoor table and instead sat us outside. When we asked to change to indoors they said not possible. Finally the waiter helped us sit inside.
It was a very good place, but i saw 90% of free tables and i cannot choose wich one i can seat, the food was very nice but the service wen t too bad for a restaurant like that, i hope they can get better servers, hostess and manager and they should be more focus and have more attention with the customers
It great overall. They charge an optional service fee on top of an 18% fee included on the check, which is absurd. You almost feel obligated to contribute with a minimum 28% service fee. Not reasonable anywhere in the world.
Asked to be seated away from exceptionally loud speakers in the bar area, so they seated us in front of the live band..... ☹️ Hostesse did not speak English nor did she speak Spanish (predominant second language in the area). This is not a place for older folks! Had the in-laws with as we were celebrating a birthday. It was way too loud could not hear anyone at your table, the waiter could not hear you ordering, asking us to repeat our order more than twice for every person at our table (frustrating). Service was slow although the restaurant was not completely full. Prices were high for the food but most of the dishes we ordered were good. Example of pricing - Dover sole was 100.00 for the one dish terribly overpriced.
The river views were nice and boat watching was terrific. Overall this is a nice place for some drinks and maybe some small plates, food was good and service slow. If owners/managers read this Music is “obnoxiously” loud!!! People need to hear each other speak at the table.
Worst experience ever! Waited 45 mins for starters! Landline was disconnected when we tried to call to say we were late. Booked again through opentable only to arrive and wait 30 mins and hostess didn’t even speak proper English and wouldn’t understand what we were telling her about having had another booking, no heaters outside, no blankets, every time we would ask a waiter about our food they wouldn’t get back to us!
This is a very expensive resturant. We attended on a Sunday night. I would not recommend going there on a Sunday for an elegant quiet dinner. (Previous visits were not on Sunday night and the resturant was great. ) We were unaware that it was 'disco night' on Sunday. Where previous visits were quite and elegant, this time the sound system was oppressive and the bar was super crowded and featured disco smoke and sparklers. For a dinner of this cost and given the wonderful experiences on other nights, the Sunday night music and crowded bar scene was not acceptable. Before we were seated, we were told that we would be kicked out of the resturant after 2 hours but then told by our waiter that the food would be late due to the crowd. I questioned how both could work. But, it was hard to hear the response due to the disco music. OpenTable should warn customers at the time of reservation that disco night would interfere with the elegance and serenity of the evening.
I have been here before, and I actually came to the friends and family about 2 years ago. So that’s to say that I knew the place, the food and the ambient on Sunday afternoon/evening. No complaints for the loud music, people dancing while you are eating. I do have complaints though if I spend 300 dollars for a 2 people dinner and the entire serving staff, including the managers, don’t take care of my table at all and take my business for granted. Our unfinished dirty plates stayed on the table for about 15 minutes, when a bidder finally came he took away my plate but not my girlfriend’s. He then started bussing the table next to us. I left a message on open table to say that it was my GF graduation dinner and the dessert with candle, or a congratulation written was never offered and when I went to ask the server she didn’t even know. The manager saw me 2 times trying to get the server attention and completely ignored me. I asked for the drink list twice and never got it. I ordered an app, octopus, 2 mains, lobster risotto and filet minon plus foie gras and 3 glasses of veuve rose. I go to restaurant 3 to 4 times a week and I’ll never go back to Secret Garden at SeaSpice.
Food was great, service at the table was amazing
When checking in, they won't seat is as in person was still on her way... we were going to start our meal and they would have been able to turn the table quicker... but they had us wait at the bar. I'm not eating at a bar so ended up ordering less food and enjoying our meal less. Bartender ignored us asking for a menu if drinks, had to ask twice
