Seaspice & Modern Garden Ratings and Reviews
Great for partying on a Sunday... not so good for a romantic dinner. Unfortunately, we had a bit of an odd overall experience. Our reservation was at 9:30. We didn’t get a table until 10:30. We had to wait at an extremely crowded bar (comparable to being in a club). Fortunately, the bartender, Maria, was amazing and improved the experience for us. Unfortunately, by the time we sat and our table to order dinner, the kitchen had sold out of all whole fish. We ordered appetizers and small plates. The yellowtail cocktail was excellent (not as sweet as most cocktails). Our server was impressive. He was attentive, informative and never left us waiting, despite the extremely chaotic surroundings. Finally, the worst aspect was that a very large black yacht was parked on the river directly outside. This kind of ruined the whole experience of dining beside the river. Welcome to Miami, I guess :D
NUNCA MAS !!!!
I made reservations last Friday evening for dinner. Parking is $15 valet. I had requested a table with a view and they obliged. I ordered two drinks (Yellow tail, Cloud 9). The first was very good, not the former. My wife ordered two drinks as well (Tequila Martini, Ginger Passion). She liked the Tequila not the Ginger. We ordered King Crab croquettes as an appetizer, very good. I ordered for my main course the Chilean Sea Bass and my wife ordered the Market Seafood. Both were good. The view was nice. Service was good. Special shout out to KC for setting me up with a nice table so that I could smoke a cigar. I rate this restaurant an overall (8).
My husband and I came to Sea Spice to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
The atmosphere was very nice however, we specifically stated on our Open Table Reservation that we would like the best table in the house. When arrived all the tables closest to the water were filled and we were sat in the aisle seat next to the people viewing the water. Secondly, our waiter was serving a few tables at once and he disappeared more than once before we could order drinks and dinner. By the time he came back he quickly scrambled off what was good on the menu. As first time Sea Spice customers, he didn't give any personal recommendations on the dishes. We ordered the Market Seafood and the Chilean Seabass. The Market Seafood was flavorful and tasty. The Seabass didn't have much flavor, but the finely cut potatoes made up for the lack for fish seasoning. Overall the food and wine was good. The service was medicore for such a high standing restaurant. We also noticed our server overcharged us 10$ that wasn't supposed to be on the bill.
Honestly, this was probably the absolute worst dining experience I have ever had in all of the places I have ever been to.
First, we had made reservations for 8:15 PM because we had another engagement at 9:50 PM that was nearby. We arrived on time and we were told that our table was not ready and we should wait at the bar. No problem. The table was not ready for 40 minutes from the time we arrived. We even started to look for other nearby places to grab a bite because this was taking so long. Luckily, while we were on the phone inquiring into a wait time, we were told our table was ready.
At that point, we were sat down. We immediately ordered all of our drinks and courses of food in one shot as soon as the waiter got to our table. Next to us, an older gentleman with his escort were sat. He got very upset because he was not immediately seen. He stood up, caused a scene, and yelled at one of the members of the staff. At that point, we overheard that staff member tell his waiter to make sure that he got his food immediately. He was then served his entrees before ours even though he had ordered them approximately 15 minutes after we did (mind you, my entree was the A5 Wagyu which comes rare for you to cook on the hot stone and my fiancé’s dish was a medium-rare filet). Regardless, the man proceeded to berate his waiter within earshot of our table for the remainder of the dinner. This, of course, ruined date night for us.
When we finally got our food, I gave our waiter my credit card to immediately charge me. My fiancé’s filet was severely over-cooked. It was so over-cooked that when she cut into it and the waiter noticed it, he immediately took it back without us asking him to. At the end we had to leave without eating.
We have emailed and called the restaurant per the manager’s request that night and have not gotten a response.
I can’t believe this is considered fine dining. Do yourself the favor and avoid at all costs. There are much better meals to be had.
