Seasons 52 San Diego - Seaport District Ratings and Reviews
I am a major foodie and I was pretty disappointed at how bland the food was after seeing the reviews for this restaurant. The lobster bisque was bland and watered down with minimal lobster, the shrimp scampi flavor was different (in a bad way) and probably one of the worst I have ever had, the truffle Mac and cheese had no truffle taste and the cheese flavor was very odd (watery tasting almost), and lastly the flat bread was super crunchy (which was fine) but the toppings again were so bland! Berry disappointed as we were so excited to eat here and the ambiance led us to thing the food would be amazing.
Side note: we only sampled appetizers, sides, and flat bread. No main entrees
I really love this restaurant! It never disappoints. The menu changes with the seasons, the wine list is extensive and the service is always point on it! I often go there before seen a show and it always surprises me how efficiently they serve such great food on the quick timeline. This time we have the mini desserts, ordered one of each It was the perfect amount for tasting.
Normally I love Seasons 52....but having reservations then being sat at a makeshift table in the bar on lawn chairs was not great. The bar crowd was on top of our table, bumping chairs and loud. I had requested a business dinner---this was anything but. Staff was pleasant but inattentive. Really just over crowded and the makeshift table didn't meet prior experiences with this restaurant.
Was disappointed in the size of the Nantucket Scallops. I was excepting larger scallops as opposed to several little ones. They were delicious however. One more ravioli in the dish with the scallops would have been nice. Josh was our waiter - he is a keeper. Please convey to him our appreciation for his fine service.
It was only my second time dining at Seasons 52 and it was even better than the first time. Service was attentive and prompt - except that one person in our party had to wait several minutes for her food after my friend and I got ours. Otherwise - Everything was superb! The restaurant was noisy with people talking but we were in a booth off to the side and had no problem conversing with and hearing each other. We will definitely go back!
While the food was great like always I was disappointed that my reservation was for 8:30 and they were over 1 hr behind on seating people. Yes, it is as thanksgiving but they should have planned better. They had lots of people waiting and the manger didn’t even offer a discount or a free anything.
We were seated 60 minutes after our reservation time; the bar area was cluttered and messy looking; there were several items on the menu that were unavailable (chicken?).
The service saved the day, the staff was very nice just grossly understaffed for the crowd.
As usual they were heavily overbooked and an hour late seating people and yet on line you could still make a reservation for a time slot they had no hope of meeting. It is a chronic problem with most season 52 locations across the country. Not a new problem and probably the reason going to cross them off our list of restaurants even though the menu and food is very good and healthy - the extreme wait time takes the enjoyment out of the evening.
My family was out of town for Thanksgiving (in San Diego) and we made reservations for Thanksgiving Dinner weeks in advance. The reservation was for 6:45....but it was so busy, we didn't get seated until 8:00PM - an hour & half late even with a reservation. Food was great, but if they need to limit their reservation slots!
We made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner this year. It started out a bit hectic since they were 30 minutes behind on reservations. We endured the wait since we got there 1/2 hour early. It was a total of 60 min of waiting time. They passed out free champagne to the people waiting and flatbread. When we finally sat down it was amazing! I loved my special turkey dinner plate. Turkey was juicy, the stuffing was delicious, the mashed potatoes were so creamy, the cranberry sauce was so so good! It was worth the wait! I'm so glad we waited. We would come back again!
The Turkey Dinner was excellent! I got there at 4:00 and there were plenty of seats at the bar. I didn't put in my dinner order for about an hour as I saw how busy they were getting. The Turkey Dinner came on a fairly timely basis. But then service fell apart and I felt very sorry for all the servers. The were hustling and didn't stop for a second. They were overwhelmed. I don't blame them they were doing the best they could. They were running out of glasses, menus, dessert (pumpkin). I had the raspberry cannoli and it was very good! I was in no hurry so I waited 1/2 hr before I flagged down someone (Mgr I think) to pay. He only charged me for 2 of the 3 glasses of wine. I'm glad I went! Good food and friendly service before they got slammed. On my way out I could barely make it through the lobby.
Thanksgiving dinner was ok. Presentation was a little disappointing, diner-style: blobs of familiar holiday dishes piled upon each other, lukewarm. But it tasted good, especially the dollop of piquant cranberry sauce. The regular menu looked good. We might try it sometime.
We've been to Seasons 52 many times. This visit was on Thanksgiving Day and the staff did a wonderful job. The restaurant was very busy but we never felt rushed and we got great service. Everyone on the staff clearly pitched in to make a fine dining experience for all the guests. We were very, very pleased.
The first time I went to Seasons 52, I did not have a good experience. I decided to give it a second chance and unfortunately it wasn't any different. We waited too long for our food. The server would forget to bring things we would ask her for. We would have to scope out the restaurant to try to get someone's attention. Basically, customer service is horrible. Food is fair, not much more to say on that.
Food was good. We had salmon and chicken Harvest Menu. Salmon was cooked to perfection although the side dish carrots were undercooked and I could not eat them. My husband liked his chicken leg with mashed potatoes although I thought it was a bit dry when I tasted it. The spinach salad as a starter was plenty and delicious. We ordered a chicken pesto flatbread for an appetizer and it was delicious and good appetizer size to share with drinks. Overall food was delicious but the menu seems to be somewhat limited. The service was very mediocre for a relatively expensive place like this. Our waitress was not attentive. She forgot my wine order and it took forever to get a glass of wine and I did not have anything to drink while we were munching on the appetizer. That was disappointing. She did not come back to fill our drinks, but we could ask someone else. She came back to ask how our food was, but she sounded so cookie cutter and did not feel friendly. Overall, the rating for this place is more about their service, but service is a big part of dining experience, so we left saying that we might not come back to this place. We felt the quality of their service did not match the close to $100 check. I had some not so great waiters at their other location in UTC, so this may be an issue of their service training.
We were in San Diego celebrating our anniversary. Seasons 52 was recommended to us by our son. We were promptly and courteously seated by the very hardworking hostess. Our waitress greeted, took our order and served our food in a very timely manner. Food was really good and atmosphere was incredible except for the screaming kid a few tables away. I guess some parents just don’t have a clue. Very well runned restaurant. Managers were in top of it. We ll be back.
