Seasons 52 - Costa Mesa Ratings and Reviews
We have had several dinners here, but the food this time around was below par. The seasoning on my filet was not there. It lacked basic elements that bring out natural flavor (salt). Even my Yukon mash was bland. Very disappointing. Our server was very pleasant though. I’m not sure we will be going back anytime soon.
I HAVE BEEN HERE MANY TIMES AND THIS LAST VISIT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. WHEN MY HUSBAND SAT DOWN THERE WAS SOMETHING STICKY ON THE SEAT AND MY UTENSILS WERE DIRTY. I EXPECT THIS TYPE OF RESTAURANT TO BE A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT AND THAT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. OUR WAITRESS WAS POLITE AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD. UNFORTUNATELY HOWEVER, THE AMBIANCE WAS MEDIOCRE AND RESTAURANT SEEMED DIRTY AND RUN DOWN. AGAIN NOT WHAT I WOULD EXPECT FROM SEASONS 52.
Seasons 52 is one of my favorite restaurants because of the healthy options especially the small desserts.
Our server was excellent and the ambiance was great, as always. My only disappointment was that on Open Table, I had mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday. Usually it is acknowledged without having to tell the server. This one was for the big 30, so it was a kinda special one.
Traveling the country, we've found Seasons 52 is a tough act to follow. The food is fresh seasonal choices prepared perfect to our taste. After a smooth pomegranate margarita I had caramelized scallops that were amazing along with broccolini that was hot and al dente. My wife loved the house tequila and had the golden beet salad with a roma tomato flatbread. Both are full of wonderful flavors without heavy calories. Our server, Brandon, was informative, didn't hover but was always around when we needed something. The live piano is in the bar but audible throughout inside seating. On this busy night, the surrounding table conversation became a bit strong as the evening progressed, so I'd suggest seating somewhere on the perimeter, maybe away from the bar area if you prefer a quieter conversation.
I've been dining at Seasons 52 since they opened in South Coast Plaza and have NEVER had a complaint about the food until this visit! We began with the shortrib flatbread ($12.40) with caramelized onions and horseradish crema; it had great flavor! We ordered a bottle of Elqui 2013 red blend wine ($46.00) from Chile, which was a nice complement to our entire meal. My friend enjoyed Thai steak salad ($19.30) which contained arugula, cabbage, avocado, tomatoes and was topped with a sesame peanut dressing. I ordered the Asian style Chilean sea bass ($32.50) which was accompanied by black rice, shitake mushrooms and snow peas. The sea bass was prepared to perfection! The snow peas should have been crisp, but mine were limp and had not been stringed. They were inedible! I should have mentioned it to our server, Kim, but neglected to do so. She was very attentive to our needs and I'm sure that she would have asked the kitchen to prepare the snow peas correctly. We ended our meals with the fantastic mini desserts for $3.00 each. They're served in a shot glass and contains just enough to satisfy your sugar craving! My friend loved the key lime pie and I gobbled up the pecan pie. The service has always been impeccable at Seasons 52 and today was no exception; aside from the minor snow pea issue today, the food also has been creative, presented nicely and sumptuous! It's a great place to savor wonderful cuisine!
Service was very professional and they honored our request for a quiet room at a very busy time of year. Ahi tartare was exceptional. The black rice under the fish entree detracted from the meal and had no flavor. I would ask for a substitute next time.
This is one of our most favorite places to dine. The food is excellent and consistent and the menu has many great selections. Expansive wine list from wine regions around the world. Try the flatbreads as an appetizer and don’t forget the reasonable delicious dessert selection. You can’t ask for better service. We’re there 2-4 times a month.
It's a BIG restaurant, broken into several parts. They sat us at a booth that was in the path of the waiters going to the outside patio, so lots of traffic by the table, and cool air blowing in from outdoors. We asked to be moved, but even that new spot was pretty cold, kept our sweaters on.
The food was good -- BBQ meatloaf was tasty.
The deserts (really perfect sized individual portions) were well presented, reasonably priced, and yummy.
The food here is always delicious - consistently served hot and to order. We come here pre-theater and they always get us seated, served and on our way in plenty of time. By far, our favorite restaurant - the food and service is always excellent. Big kudos to the manager, who seems to be everywhere; I've even seen him clearing and setting tables!
Asked to not be seated by the door to patio because outside it was cold and there was draft coming in that would bother my elderly mother(COPD). Host said it will very rarely if ever be opened and nobody is likely to sit outside tonight pushing off our request to be reseated. My Son and I counted that at least every minute the door opened..sometimes 2 times a minute. People did sit out there ....and there was a parade of people constantly coming in and out. It was drafty and uncomfortable for us. Nobody bothered to check if things were OK after our initial complaint .
The food was excellent except for the Sea Bass, which that night was not super fresh as we would expect but borderline fishy. My Son swapped the Fish with his grandma who didn't notice it but thought it was overcooked.
All in all not the best visit here... it has been better usually.
We had reservations for 1:15pm but we're not seated until 1:35pm. The service was good but one food order came out wrong. A steak was ordered medium and it came out rare. As we were already late, the dish wasn't sent back to re-fire and my staff member left most of the rare steak.
Arrived late due to traffic and parking so we took a seat in the bar, and ended up staying there. Live musician in the bar, a little hard to talk over, but the waitress, Heather was knowledgeable, quick with recommendations (which were perfect) and service was timed beautifully. We spit a flatbread appetizer, had wine and I enjoyed the lamb shank, delicious. Definitely will be back.
This was our 2nd time at Seasons 52 but had the BEST experience. It was so festive and cozy for Christmas with a great piano player in the bar, but the food was amazing and the service attentive and nice. They also offered the Happy Hour menu at the table, which is rare. We are putting this on our regular family meet-up list!
Waitress was not very attentive had to ask for water refills repeatedly. Also had several issues with a specialty drink. The bartender kept making the old fashioned with (maybe fireball?) it had cinnamon flavor I didn't like or want but after sending it back and asking for a traditional whiskey it was sent back the same again. Pretty disappointed with the bar, the salads and flat bread were amazing as usual the deserts seemed dry and maybe day old?
This restaurant offers more bang for the buck than anyplace I know. Outstanding healthy food, super service, beautiful. We drive 50 miles each way to dine here. The manager, Josh, is totally on top of it. Prices are astonishingly reasonable. Five stars
