Seared - Petaluma Ratings and Reviews
The new owners have done some remodeling turning the place into an echo chamber. Good luck on trying to whisper something to your beloved across the table. Clatter and even noise from the street made it a place where I couldn't wait to get the entree so I could get out of there. The food is very tasty and very expensive for me. I was hoping for more. There are so few places to eat of quality in town that are quiet and consistently good food.
Four meals. Three were the flat iron steak which had good flavor but was too tough. I had wild caught king salmon which was perfectly prepared but then ruined by the addition of smoked bacon. The flavors fought with, rather than complemented, each other. Extraordinarily high noise level made it hard to converse.
We took my in-laws for their 55th wedding Anniversary. We were 5 minutes late and yet our table was ready. We sat down and Michael came over and was just a hit with the table. He was their when you needed him and yet not over doing it. We have not had service like this in a long time. We took our time and had a great meal from the Lamb Chops, to the King Cut of Prime Rib and the Fish Specials. but more important then that we had OUTSTANDING SERVICE. Old school. From the front desk till the time we left the staff was just outstanding. We will be back I still have a few more items on the menu I want to try.
First we were 1/2 hr. late due to traffic and Ken, was so kind to hold our table for us! The food was a wonderful find! My hanger steak was out of this world! tender and the sauce was to die for! My son had the gnocchi and it was delicious also. My husband enjoyed his rib eye but felt it was a little too "grisly" for his taste. The service was outstanding! We also tried the mac& cheese and it was creamy and delicious as well as the sauted mushrooms.
We will be back!
This was our second visit and we took what we learned and applied it on this visit. During our first visit, we listened to our stomachs and over ordered. The food was superb on that visit and again on this visit. The brussel sprouts are not to be missed. The beef is tender and flavorful. The wine list is fine and the range and depth of the menu means that there is something there for everyone. Our server was a little over the top on this visit which was OK. We'll be back for sure... A great addition to the wonderful Petaluma food scene.
My husband and I went to Seared to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. He was craving a steak, and our friend recommended Seared as the best steak in town "no question." We rarely get out, so this was a real treat, and it didn't disappoint. My filet with blue cheese butter and mashed potatoes was to die for. For an appetizer, two cocktails, two entrees, a side, and two desserts plus tip, we spent $140. Not an inexpensive meal, but worth it for a special occasion.
The decor is good, the food great, and the service is also very good. My only problem is that the noise level is high enough that it's challenging to converse. Seems to be in vogue to create restaurants with nothing to absorb sound - the noise level scale calls it energetic, not irritating. Guess I'm turning into an old fogey.
We had read about Seared and decided to try it even though my wife is not a meat-eater. We found the restaurant somewhat dark but had a warm friendly reception. The menu while focusing on steak and fish contrives to be complicated with details of provenance. I found the food excellent; a tuna tartare(special) to start which had an intriguing array of spices and a hanger steak (chosen for its smaller size) which was cooked to perfection with a wine sauce, spicy dip and outstandingly tasty fries. I would recommend this restaurant heartily with the caveat that the menu for vegetarians is quite limited.
We enjoyed eating at Seared in Petaluma again. The server, Michael was most gracious and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. Every evening there is a special selection besides the regular menu. The wine list is not extensive, but what we ordered was delicious.
Read great reviews about this restaurant and was hoping to find another good restaurant in Petaluma. This restaurant is in the same location that Graziano's occupied for many years. Were hoping Seared was an upgrade over Graziano's - unfortunately not. Ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer based on favorable reviews, but found it watery and less than appetizing. A bread plate accompanied the appetizer and this was a real shocker - the bread was chewy and doughy like it had not been fully baked. We were told the bread was from Healdsburg which makes no sense when you consider the excellent Della Fattoria bakery is right across the street from Seared. Didn't stick around for the entre - booked a reservation at another restaurant instead.
Opened now for a year, this restaurant is a great improvement over its predecessor. We started out with the wedge. We didn't find the fried onion topping very appealing. We weren't sure about what was to follow. My wife ordered the lamb. It was perfectly cooked, mouthwatering and flavorful. I ordered the prime rib expecting a run-of-the-mill experience, but was pleasantly surprised with one of the best presentations I've ever had. Combine that with the exceptional, pleasant service....we will definitely be back.
Food was amazing. The Manila clams were incredible as was the shrimp and the undecided dessert. That chocolate cake may have been the best I've ever eaten in my life! Service was attentive and friendly but not too much. Saw several large groups there and they seemed to be just as happy as the rest of us smaller parties. It was a little warm inside and a little loud, that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. Will definitely return!
We visited Seared for my mother in law's birthday this week. There were seven of us and we all love to eat and love good food. Our waitress used a baby voice and after the meal, I realized that none of us could stand her voice. (We didn't discuss it during the meal.) My flat iron steak was tough and too salty. The salad I ordered (beet salad) was flavorless. Our wine, even though it was ordered before we ordered our meal, didn't arrive until our salads and appetizers were on the table for about 5 minutes. We love to go out to eat, but all agreed it was our first AND last time for us at Seared.
Took advantage of a Groupon Coupon for 1/2 off, (BOGO), and had a delicious lunch of Fish & Chips, with slaw, fries, and ( an included glass of wine.) - All great! - (I will add that the cole slaw came in one of those tiny metal bowls, like some salad dressing comes in, (about 'shot glass' size), and wasn't nearly enough to go with the fish&chips.) - C'mon, - Cabbage is Cheep!
Otherwise, a great little place!
The food was terrific. Our party of 4 all had beef, each meal was cooked to perfection. Very flavorful. Great sides. Salads are noteworthy too! Our server was wonderful...very personable, attentive but did not hover. Entire staff was friendly and efficient.
