Sea Venture Ratings and Reviews
While we dine out for lunch almost daily...we are very selective when choosing dinner spots.
This is definitely one of the best spots for an occasion or romantic dining. The food, service, and atmosphere are great. NOT a fan of jazz and the band was extremely loud...but otherwise all made for a wonderful experience. Dessert was on the house (cream brûlée) and must add it was MARVALOUS! Will return again and again...as have for years!
Not sure if we just hit them on a bad night, but our food was average at best. Overpriced for the quality we received. And the dessert was just weird...we ordered the banana cream pie and it wasn’t creamy at all. It tasted like gelatin had been added to the filling making it rubbery. The view was spectacular, though, and we watched a beautiful sunset. We also saw whales feeding along the shore. Great location.
Tasty menu with good variety, killer sunset view right on the ocean, very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable serving staff, nice ambiance, all converge to offer my wife and me a memorable anniversary dinner.
The wine list featured good to excellent choices of wines from the region, which is rapidly rising to challenge Napa and Sonoma.
Your Hostess that night was wonderful. We've had her before. She is very professional and accommodating. She always gets us the table we request. The food was best we've had there. The server was professional but we felt like he was a bit in a hurry. We had a great evening as always.
Well, we've hit the Sea Venture bar before on a Jazz Jubilee Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed it. This year, we got around to having dinner there on a night when they had live music and it was great. The food was fantastic! Prices were inline with first class dining. My only nit was that it was loud. Did I mention that it was loud? That was the people talking at the tables. Not the live music.
We also hit F. McLintocks and Rosas (and a couple of less, expensive venues like Brads and Wooleys) while there this year and the Sea Venture is our new favorite for quality dining and ambiance.
I highly recommend this place for discriminating palates. Wonderful food and service.
poor service from waiter, had to get my own drink from the bar,
meal was not prepared as requested so there for did not eat dinner that night,
I am a returning customer to the restaurant and this was the worse experience I have had especially for a Anniversary date night!
The service and ambiance were excellent although when it got dark, we were unable to see the beautiful view. We had a 7:30 p.m. reservation which meant that the sun had already set. If you want a view of the water, go earlier. Kudos to Amanda our waitress for her great service. She was always bustling. The only negative was that the food was a little over salted but that might have been our tastebuds. We would go to the Sea Venture again if we are back in Pismo Beach.
The food was absolutely delicious, the service was very good as well. The restaurant is situated on the beach overlooking the ocean, a beautiful scenic view. Now get this, I don't think I have ever said this about any restaurant I have been too, they are UNDER-priced. The amazing food and views you would think justify an added expense, not here. Keep up the great work Sea Venture, we WILL definitely be back.
great food and scenic for relaxing dining. the crab and shrimp dish that i cannot pronounce the name of but in a flaky shell was about one of the best dishes i have ever had and i'm picky about seafood. really wonderful.
we had a steak as a side dish to the seafood and it was also wonderful. very tender and great sauce served with it. great drinks. just overall great experience. met lots of nice people at the bar while waiting for table. very fun place.
We've been coming to the Sea venture for years. Recently, the servers haven't been the best but the food is still fabulous. This time is also the second time in two weeks we've been there and both times they were out of the special prime rib for a 6:45pm sitting. I also saw a woman at another table complain that she ordered the prime rib medium rare and it came to her table as well done. Just an FYI.
First time,it was our anniversary so we went all out.My wife had the asparagus salad and loved it. And there was plenty of it,then she got a special prim rib 14 oz and it was ok some tender a lot a little tuffer but still good flavor.I got lobster tail And and extra one for my wife, they were ok and I understand it's hard to cook small tails just right but my wife thought hers was to dry.The vegetables on both dinners were to un cooked,Brussel sprouts were hard and could not eat them.our waiter Chris was great and waited on us and met our needs. They gave us our dessert which was a nice ending to our dinner. The view was great and all in all we had a nice time.
We had out of town guests that wanted to see sunset @ the ocean and have great meal. Everything was as we wished great views of ocean outside on patio , great food service was a little slow but they where busy. Server was sweet, very , accommodating. I would go back and I would recommend it to friends.
We chose this restaurant based on good reviews. The food we ordered was good but we struggled to make a choice due to the limited entrees. We basically ordered from the appetizers. The Vol-au-vent was very good and the views were spectacular. We even saw whales.
Check-in was great. The hostess saved us a good table while we enjoyed cocktails. We ordered beer and a top shelf martini. We saw several being poured and they looked good. When I got mine it was short on the pour. Otherwise dinner was very good. Great date night to celebrate a birthday.
